Intentional Idle isn't super common from my experience (maybe 1/50-1/100 games). Also, if one of your enemies goes afk or leaves, don't turn it into a 2v2 or 1v1, they came to play as a team of 3's. If that goes against your conscience so much, at the very least don't be like, oh I'm going to turn this into a 2v2 by sitting in my own goal, your team will think they have a goalie and won't try as hard to prevent shots. I can handle my teammates rage quitting on me when we're losing by like 3 because, hey, we'd probs have lost anyway, when my teammate goes idle in a game when we're barely losing, or God forbid, we're winning, I might hop off Rocket League for the night after that game.
Pin this. I preach no mercy rules all the time. But Leth is Canadian. AFK is unacceptable behavior and shows disrespect to the very concept of time and competition.
Being the arbiter of whether it's a 2v2 or if an own goal should happen is bad manners, imo. It's not common in your experience? Are we playing the same game? US-E is full of intentional idlers. I nearly can't play a single session without finding one on one of the teams - or people surrendering while winning at the very least.
@@steelerfaninperu I do it if a guy loses connection cause that's not on them and usually do it until another person comes. If its a rage quit or afk and we're up I still do it to a degree cause running up the score just makes it take longer since it stops the clock. Do it enough to make sure we're up a goal and then just mess around.
@@ImThe5thKing bro, actually the first season 3 with the golden letters was ACTUALLY the scuffed season where many people managed to get the gc title, get your facts straight
I've learned that trying to control the ball below gc is almost impossible. Start a dribble and your teammate comes flying in like an ICBM to hit the ball off your car. Bounce dribble to start an air dribble and your teammate will bang it into the sidewall. I don't get mad when people try and make a play and fail, I get mad when people hit the ball just to hit it, with no real plan other than making contact. It annoys the fuck out of me.
@@demiseduke8000 In diamond it's so rare to get both teammates that understand what possession and control is. But when I do get paired with two players that respect each other's play style and pacing, we almost always win via a FF from the other team because we're just blowing them out of the water. It's so easy to tell when a game is flowing vs. when you get a chaser that's just causing confusion and chaos for everybody on the field.
@@demiseduke8000 I've noticed that if a ballchaser teammate rage quits, often the game becomes easier to play as a 2v3 because the bad teammate doesn't make terrible touches, like bang the ball to bad positions so the opponent can score. Also, taking control and possession of the ball often becomes easier. And maybe the enemy team relaxes thinking it should be an easy win and they're not used to playing against controlled plays. Talking about C1 though
I saw that many times, from people taping down accel and turn, to software/automated methods to farm event crates or rank rewards... For that type of behaviour mark the "Intentionally idle" and the "XP farming". Maybe even the "Cheating" since it may involve anti-afk software?
The guy afk at 13:20 would’ve been deliberately deranking, I’ve had games where I’ve had ssl players on my team or opponents and they stay still and just type in chat or just move slightly when idle comes
i’m pumped for next episode. despite hitting gc 2 in previous seasons, ive found my washed self back in mid c3 fighting for gc back. im hoping to see what mistakes ive been making without even realizing. Keep up the fire content mate!
The dude idling in that 3s game was probably smurfing his rank down. You don't get experience or level ups when you get less than 20~ points, so hes def not going for rewards.
The ranks are messy because people always want to learn new mechanics before getting their fundamentals down. I've seen golds and platinums who position way better but fall short cause they're inconsistent in being able to hit the ball. In champ, it's the complete opposite, they have better mechanics but don't position at all, Instead relying on recovering in time to boost back for a save
See, that’s what I focus on more than mechs. The MAIN fundamentals REQUIRED for you to rank up. If my team8 pushes with me I back off. I’d rather be back for a save than get scored on with an open net. I’d rather rotate and be consistent in my shot taking than be able to hit a double flip reset.
@@SxvxgeDxddy Lethamyr showcases this perfectly. Not to say he isn't mechanical but in majority of his videos, he's playing off his teammate and just making smart touches, putting the ball in places where he or his teammate can follow. He isn't constantly trying to ceiling shot or musty every single shot attempt. and then you see champs and diamonds who constantly trying to play faster than is even needed for the rank and when they miss or fall short, they get scored on by someone who just sat back and waited. It's the reason that it's a lot harder to play in lower ranks these days because you constantly get teammates who are holding boost 24/7 and cutting you off for awkward touches just because they think you're too slow, and it usually concedes a goal.
@@TheVibe671 and that’s the main issue I have with most of the playerbase. If you can’t trust me to make a play, then don’t play with randoms. My friends and I all trust each other. Not saying I don’t solo q nor am I not to blame for half of my losses, but still. Patience is a virtue. 72% of my goals, come from my team8 taking the ball and me following up with their bad touch and bad play
@@SxvxgeDxddy Based off this I can already tell you cut your teammate off a lot Lol. It's not about trusting your teammate to make a play. People constantly think that just because they CAN touch the ball then they SHOULD, and thats not how it works. Sure you can get to the ball faster than your teammate can but you're not gonna be able to touch the ball into a place that is advantageous to you or your teamate in any way and will mostly likely just spill back to the enemy team. So many people will make a bad touch and blame their teammate for not following up when they literally can't, and they think that they were making a play when they were really just putting their teammate in a "Save it or get scored on" situation. Even in champ, people still don't think about making good touches and only about making fast touches. Almost everyone in these ranks thinks that getting somewhere fast by using all their boost and winning a 50 that they're the better player, and that is defnintely not the case. It's the same reason using the scoreboard as a way to measure skill should not be a thing. Someone who is constantly on the ball will obviously have more poins than their teammate but that same person is also making multiple bad touches that slowly put your team in more and more awkward situations only to inevitably lead to a goal for the opponent. That same person is then gonna call his teammate bad for having less points and not being able to save an incredibly awkward shot that was probably given to them by the person who is constantly chasing the ball instead of playing patient. Lethamyr also demonstrates this perfectly at 19:19 . He is in a better position to put the ball in a good place for a follow up, but instead his teeammates cuts it into the side wall even though there is so much space downfield that he can use to control the ball.
Theres a common misunderstanding in these ranks that patience = Slow. Speed = Skill level and a fear that if 1 mistake = cant trust. I get all of them, but champ players fail to work with there teammates playstyle. This applies heavily for previous higher ranked players where they end up trying to do way to much. They have to take the game into their own hands, etc. Mindset is what beats alot of people in this game
Exactly, the egotrip of some people is actually insane. Once you start using your brain and wait for the weak spot in the opponents play its the moment it clicks in your teammates brain to have to backpack you unnecessarily making the game hard for no reason. Then blaming it obviously on you.
Stuff like that guy sitting idle for an entire match is extremely common in the lower ranks. Not for nothing but I'm glad you're seeing it at your rank because somebody might actually do something about it if you're the one that points it out. Then again, we're talking about Psyonix, and they aren't motivated to do anything about anything unless it affects the Pro tournaments
I think that's how and why my teammate and me end up playing against champs in plat every 3rd game or so. Not even kidding, I'm always looking up their profiles with RLTracker when I get the feeling they're sus. I should screenshot them all and compile them lmao
Maybe, but I think it’s more that ranked is broken. A lot of players are well under their normal ranks from previous seasons. So many GCs are in champ right now still.
You get the ones that paid for the boost and went back down and you get the ones boosting someone (probably what that guy is preparing that account for).
@@jbone6979 I also think a lot of people got carried to champ and start solo-qing and go down. and then the season reset puts them down into P3/D1. Even with the big rank resets, i've still maintained D3 in 2s through the last few seasons without any trouble.
@@Kaaarrrrlllll they for sure have. I play late at night and it’s nothing but GC1+ and diamond 1-. I’m talking like 95% of the games, every single night. It’s so infuriating having to find something that works against both at the same time. I’d rather play against two higher ranks than this crap.
Unfortunately the layoffs at epic mean they probably won't be banned. I've tried to be an evangelist of keeping this community 'clean' reporting bad actors whenever i see them. Most days I used to get the message " thanking me for my report and saying "action has been taken". I've not seen that message siince the layoffs, I think the support staff that would handle that were the first to go.
Dude, I was telling myself that first game was a gold game then it’s ssl. Your patience is amazing and I feel like a clown for thinking this game changes for ranks.
Oh, Leth, I run into at least one AFK farmer/smurf a week, sometimes more. Some more fun statistics: During some play sessions, 50%-80% of the games include players being toxic, I have to report at least one player every hour or so of play, I filled my blocked players list in a few short months, and this past Tuesday was so bad that in three out of a stretch of five games, a toxic player started playing for the other team. It's a shame I love this game so much because the people who play it are the cruelest, pettiest bunch of people I've ever met.
LETH ARE YOU PROUD OF ME? This week, I [got carried to -.-] my first ever CHAMP RL tourney win, and after saying I would stop at Elite rank in RR, I made CHAMP THERE TOO! :D I'm still Diamond [forever] in normal ranked 3v3 RL though 😂
Leth the knight in shinning armor trying to do the right thing but no mercy in comp. Always go for the throat. Then the kick between the legs for good measure.
Oh wow... I'm today years old when I realized those two center white lines are the exact inside width of the goal... I'm like.. how do you know that ball is about to go in your net... And then I seen those white lines are perfectly lined up with the corners
In Ranked 3s around the Champ 2 & 3 rank, I've seen a LOT of bots. It's so obvious they're bots too. If you watch a replay, they rotate their camera to show they're 'human'. They play for about 20 seconds then realize they're in way over there head at this rank and enable the bot. They go from looking like a Diamond player who can barely read the ball to perfect flicks and flip reset aerial goals. Their car is twitchy, like it's calculating angles and constantly moving/breaking... perfect kickoffs that snap their car's angle to the boost, then ball within a few milliseconds lol. It's a good challenge to compete with nearly perfect bots, but dude...it's getting old.
Mystic reminded me of a guy I played this morning in a 3s game. Before kickoff, he types "1v1?" After a goal I ask him why he isn't playing 1s then, and he says, "1s players are boring, I want to shit on 3s mains." Long story short, he wanted FOUR PLAYERS to just sit around for 7 minutes so him and one other person could 1v1 and cost them rank if they lost. Just a selfish player. Like Mystic was in that game.
Just wondering if having air roll left as the same button as reverse is good or bad, because im sure if it influences the way your car would move through the air, so should I keep or change it? I have it set as l2
Champ is a wide variety of skill. I’m C2 and not super mechy, sometimes play with teammates who are even worse, and today had a teammate who double flip reset musty 🤣
lots of idle people in the diamond-champ ranks. Most people that need a smurf to rank them up are plat-champ from what ive seen so it's very common in those ranks to see someone losing on purpose.
Yes he was farming. It's very common when I play in cas and just like you witnessed they never get kicked due to that slight movement so they can stay in the full game!!!! Of course epic games never dish out disaplanary actions cause you would get a notification if your report got them a ban.........
That dude idle is pretty common for me when I’m like playing and getting the same guy each time or something like that…he’s probably just tanking to clip on some plats tho based on the opponents reaction to it
I’m sorry, but there’s no way that Mystic guy is gc. I’m a diamond 2 and I think I could do a better job in that lobby. I’m not a cocky player and wouldn’t normally make statements like that, but half the touches he made were touches that negatively affected his team.
people say overestimating and under, but in reality, each rank is filled with people that are good in that rank, and people that arnt as good at the others, like if you look at plat, is a really good exsaple
Ppl be like "I report players at least once per day" and try not to sound like apslayz while explaining themselves. We all suck, no way yall got the worst teammates of all time every time.
i hate to say it leth, but you scored a purpose own goal in the same game, another thing thats reportable. i get you want to make the game fair by offering a 2v2 instead, but thats just not how the lobbies go and you'll justa nnoy your teammates even further.
im D3/C1, peaked C2 in 2s. intentionally idle or early quits happen a few times per session for me. i trolled my placement matches for 3s this season and dropped to D2, and it felt every other game there was a smurf. (I'm not saying that bc I lost games, I'm saying that bc half the time I play I'm teaming with my GC friend in hoops, so I know what high champ/GC looks like when they're trying to be lowkey about it- certain controlled touches that low champs/diamonds just can't get)
The smurf issue goes away as you climb into D3 and champ; toxicity peaks in low champ 2; and tbh the most fun i have playing is in champ 1. it feels like enough C1s know they suck compared to higher ranks that people get a little less toxic when you troll lol
you didn't troll, the MMR system is absolutely broken and busted. i dropped 6 ranks from my usual placement this season because i lost 2 games. that is not normal. it feels like there's smurfs in the lower rank lobbies because all of the SSLs are in GC, which makes the hardstuck GCs in champ, which makes the hardstuck champs in diamond, etc. currently in the plat trenches trying to get back to where i was last season in diamond and it's so hard trying to pick up the slack in my 2v2 matches, plat games are so much harder this season and it's blatantly obvious why.
I’m right there with you man. Played the game long enough to know what the ranks should be and none of what’s going on is it lately. It’s like almost every game im not actually playing the rank we’re in +/-
@@ultimus_ no, it absolutely does not. It’s never been this bad in terms of smurfs from D2-C2. This is why ranked is broken. We should be experiencing something similar, not completely opposite.
so probably 20-30 % of my games end up being 5 person games because people suck. on teh odd occasion that its someone on the other team(maybe 2% of the time) Ill take that win because the other 28% of the time I get smashed, I would absolutly report you for that clearly intentional own goal. and I like you. and yes that is a farming program that just boost a touch of "go" every 11 seconds or so.
I know it isn't related, but I think more RL content creators should outline what it looks like when someone is smurfing. Some players are lost in the sauce and just can't recognize when it's happening to them causing them to lose the drive to try and progress in the game. It's getting out of control and I think people should be informed about what to look for in the other player's gameplay. Accept the L and just re-queue instead of wasting time against a 5 pass play past you and your gold teammate can't defend against. It's so obnoxious having to flip the mental switch between "Here I am expecting to competitively play against another team near my rank." and "Oh, suddenly I need to be looking out for aerial set ups/wall plays/shots to attempt to interrupt/read/save because someone needs 2 extra accounts to keep playing forever instead of just logging off and doing something else if they can't get a game in their region/rank". Variety, guys.
Farming rewards? Sorry, Epic took out drops after games. Can only get drops from challenges and rocket pass now I think that player was just trying to drop rank for smurfing purposes 🤷♂️
I think why people are confused is because while you position better than most people in the lower ranks, you play slower than people in those ranks and still contribute. I myself am sometimes annoyed by you not taking shots i would consider free

3 minutes in the video and my question is, How in the hell did Mystic got the GC title
S3 GC was notorious for smurfs and people buying accounts at that rank
@@MikeBeardythat was the first season 3.
thats clearly red not yellow/orange
@@alexdavis9324
@@alexdavis9324 Nope, pre-Epic GC tags are gold, after Epic bought Psyonics they made GC tags red. So it's the second season 3
@@ImThe5thKing bro, actually the first season 3 with the golden letters was ACTUALLY the scuffed season where many people managed to get the gc title, get your facts straight
the cutting is so annoying. Everyone at this rank sees you take a touch and take some time, and they assume you don't want the ball for some reason
@@demiseduke8000 exactly. You'd think by this rank they'd be over just chasing the shiney shiney.
How DARE you try to play intelligently while on my team! Surrender vote. Noob can't even boom the ball to the opponent.
I was sad at the start that I didn't get to see you make the meme of the day, then it made it to the end and my day was made better xD

The “uh-oh!” at 21:26 is amazing.
I get aggravated when leth plays passively knowing he could dust them 🤣
Right I’m like why didn’t he go for that, playing passive asf😂
I saw that many times, from people taping down accel and turn, to software/automated methods to farm event crates or rank rewards...
For that type of behaviour mark the "Intentionally idle" and the "XP farming". Maybe even the "Cheating" since it may involve anti-afk software?
The guy afk at 13:20 would’ve been deliberately deranking, I’ve had games where I’ve had ssl players on my team or opponents and they stay still and just type in chat or just move slightly when idle comes
it's so funny to see leth try to make a match fair when an opponent idles when I just say "it's free real estate"
Thanks for reminding me. I bought a giant chocolate chip from a coffee shop earlier today and I completely forgot all about it.

i’m pumped for next episode. despite hitting gc 2 in previous seasons, ive found my washed self back in mid c3 fighting for gc back. im hoping to see what mistakes ive been making without even realizing. Keep up the fire content mate!
The dude idling in that 3s game was probably smurfing his rank down. You don't get experience or level ups when you get less than 20~ points, so hes def not going for rewards.
Why go through the trouble deranking so many games from GC than just making a new account and playing a few?
The ranks are messy because people always want to learn new mechanics before getting their fundamentals down. I've seen golds and platinums who position way better but fall short cause they're inconsistent in being able to hit the ball. In champ, it's the complete opposite, they have better mechanics but don't position at all, Instead relying on recovering in time to boost back for a save
See, that’s what I focus on more than mechs. The MAIN fundamentals REQUIRED for you to rank up. If my team8 pushes with me I back off. I’d rather be back for a save than get scored on with an open net. I’d rather rotate and be consistent in my shot taking than be able to hit a double flip reset.
im a diamond 2v2 player and i cant do anything in the air but i always try and have my fundamentals down first in every game
*leth gets 114 ball touches in a match* says, "i didnt feel very involved." certified chaser lol
People intentionally afk a lot in lower ranks. Probably for XP? DeRank? 🤷♂️
They also like to grief people.
Leth is such a teacher at heart. very much appreciate this.
Mystic is the perfect example of what Platinum in current-day Rocket League consists of.
Sometimes, internet problems I have had in the past caused me to not move in the game
You should do Lethamare, with your head on a horse body 😂

Stuff like that guy sitting idle for an entire match is extremely common in the lower ranks. Not for nothing but I'm glad you're seeing it at your rank because somebody might actually do something about it if you're the one that points it out. Then again, we're talking about Psyonix, and they aren't motivated to do anything about anything unless it affects the Pro tournaments
You should do “juisiuuu”

Oh wow... I'm today years old when I realized those two center white lines are the exact inside width of the goal... I'm like.. how do you know that ball is about to go in your net... And then I seen those white lines are perfectly lined up with the corners
LETS ALL TAKE A BLINKER WITH LETH AT 8:35
In Ranked 3s around the Champ 2 & 3 rank, I've seen a LOT of bots.
Mystic one of those ballchasers that only leaves the ball to get boost, I know those players well.

Mystic reminded me of a guy I played this morning in a 3s game. Before kickoff, he types "1v1?" After a goal I ask him why he isn't playing 1s then, and he says, "1s players are boring, I want to shit on 3s mains."
Long story short, he wanted FOUR PLAYERS to just sit around for 7 minutes so him and one other person could 1v1 and cost them rank if they lost.
Just a selfish player. Like Mystic was in that game.
Just wondering if having air roll left as the same button as reverse is good or bad, because im sure if it influences the way your car would move through the air, so should I keep or change it? I have it set as l2

lots of idle people in the diamond-champ ranks. Most people that need a smurf to rank them up are plat-champ from what ive seen so it's very common in those ranks to see someone losing on purpose.
Reporting people in RL don't do shit. Even they are own goaling, purposely losing multiple games in a row.

ive seen this happen a couple times before in diamond poeple just afk but not getting kicked just moving a tiny bit eather a bot or someone deranking
Yes he was farming. It's very common when I play in cas and just like you witnessed they never get kicked due to that slight movement so they can stay in the full game!!!! people say overestimating and under, but in reality, each rank is filled with people that are good in that rank, and people that arnt as good at the others, like if you look at plat, is a really good exsaple

i hate to say it leth, but you scored a purpose own goal in the same game, another thing thats reportable.
i get you want to make the game fair by offering a 2v2 instead, but thats just not how the lobbies go and you'll justa nnoy your teammates even further.

I’m stuck in diamond and it’s insanely common. The amount of Smurfing in diamond and champ 1 is crazy lol.
when people sit still like that its because yes they are being idle on purpose but its also xp farming cause hes just letting his team do everything
that afk game was hilarious
im D3/C1, peaked C2 in 2s. intentionally idle or early quits happen a few times per session for me. i trolled my placement matches for 3s this season and dropped to D2, and it felt every other game there was a smurf.
It's ok, I'm a deranker too. I don't sit idle like that, but I do lose all the time... and I don't do it purposely, but I do lose all the time.

21:47 Leth went from 48 boost to 59 then picked up another pad and got to 72 😭 why can’t epic just make it exactly 12
Welcome to the Champ experience lmao. Idle players and kids who go afk after one goal against.
Leth is way too nice. My teammate is afk, no mercy from the other team. Vice versa, no mercy from me
I report at least 2 people Intentionally idle per session. quite common in my experience. (plat III, Diamond I)
I run into farming players about 1 out of 7 games. Just another reason why ranking can be a pain in the ass.
so probably 20-30 % of my games end up being 5 person games because people suck. on teh odd occasion that its someone on the other team(maybe 2% of the time) Ill take that win because the other 28% of the time I get smashed, I would absolutly report you for that clearly intentional own goal. and I like you. and yes that is a farming program that just boost a touch of "go" every 11 seconds or so.
Can only get drops from challenges and rocket pass now
I think that player was just trying to drop rank for smurfing purposes 🤷♂️
When people are "AFK" PLAY ON leth... Holy cow.
Yeah, Leth also intentionally own-goaled during that match which is griefing/match-throwing. Unacceptable during competitive play.
I think why people are confused is because while you position better than most people in the lower ranks, you play slower than people in those ranks and still contribute.
I myself am sometimes annoyed by you not taking shots i would consider free
Leth now has the jstn cough!
That’s kinda insane to report someone for deranking to Smurf while you’re in essence smurfing.
