The back would be your preferred length. As for the front when you slash and spread the length would increase depending on how much you spread it. When you gather it back make sure the length matches with that of the back.. Hope this was helpful?

I used four yards of by 60 fabric. Although there was small remaining not up to half yards. Size also matters. Hope this was helpful

The curve depends on the amount of spread, you know I did 2" if yours is 1" it wouldn't be as curvy as mine but I don't know if it will be straight
