    When I had my boat I put two poles on the back of the trailer. The advantages were great to see when reversing the trailer, great for loading the boat and protecting the boat on the trailer.

    I put my hand on the bottom of the steering wheel, twist around and look out the back window.
    It also helps to lower the tailgate so you can see the entire trailer.

    I can never understand why other jetskiers never have any dock lines. Usually this happens at the river where someone will ask if I can hold their ski while they get their trailer. If I'm feeling charitable I will help, but one time I was holding a ski for almost 15 minutes. I finally let it go and went to get my truck when I passed the guy who was mad at me, he said he was talking with a friend. Just because I am holding your skit for you doesn't mean you can talk to your buddy for 15 minutes. Load first, talk later.

    Love your videos. The first time I ever backed my boat was when I got it home and had to back into my driveway. Major challenge. A couple of weeks later I went to the ramp. It was raining so I decided to practice backing since the lot was empty. I'm a lot better at it now. I had a boater one day talk me through backing. It has made a huge difference. The key is take it slow and only turn the wheel a quarter to half a turn and you'll be fine.

    • @americantaxpayer4551
      @americantaxpayer4551 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct. the main problem people have, beside turning the wrong way, is that they over steer. And when they have the trailer in a straight line, they think they HAVE to turn the wheel.

    • @Chris-fo8wp
      @Chris-fo8wp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My Dad taught me in a huge K Mart parking lot before they opened on a Sunday.
      Put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel, where you move your hand is where the back of the trailer goes...
      The other thing is people putting their trailer in too deep, and no dock lines!!!

    • @dassix1636

    • @Devo491
      @Devo491 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chris-fo8wp That's a really good tip! Beginners have trouble mastering the process, cause you have to reverse the actions used to back a vehicle without a trailer. And using the bottom of the wheel sort of limits the amount of turn you apply.

    #1 thing that helped me back a trailer.
    Put your hand 9 and 3 o clock, find your trailer, if you want it to go left, left hand turns wheel up…if you want the trailer to go right, right hand steers wheel up. Maybe the words don’t make sense too good but my word it made it so easy once I tried it

    • @rathkopf

    I park my utility trailer in my back yard. I use my ZTR mower to back it in. Now that is interesting to do, since you have no steering wheel, and the mower makes immediate steering corrections, with a slight movement of my hands.

    Small inputs for steering , and straiten the friggin' wheels just BEFORE you are lined up (not AFTER ), less work when you don't over-correct , and for the #1 tip........ go slower until you "get-it " . people will appreciate that you are really trying if you can keep going backwards slowly , rather than trying for a speed record back and forewards and back and oops....and repeat untill you see all the cameras pointed at you and people laughing

Turn towards the problem Small changes of the wheel when traveling long distances. Driver can turn the vehicle faster than the trailer. As we all know. Long Trailer needs time to react.
