It's a terrific set. My fave era is Bare Trees but the chemistry of this lineup is insane. I appreciate them releasing it on its own too and not as a thousandth special edition of Rumours.
My fave lineup is with Bob Welch too but more Mystery To Me
bare trees is my #2 album behind future games
We're simpatico with 'Bare Trees' Davy. I like alot of the pre Buckingham Nicks music, but that's the one in my collection.

August 29th, 1977 would’ve been the first night of the three night Fleetwood Mac run at the Forum August 29-31 which was the night after KISS’s three nite run at the Forum August 26-28 which are the shows Alive ll was recorded at, I went the first two nites w/ Cheap Trick opening and they practically blew KISS off their own stage, touring ‘In Color’ themselves so just a plethora of great tunes, better than the songs in KISS’s set list at that point and I was a massive KISS fan at that point as a ten year old kid. Even with KISS’s biggest stage production they ever used Cheap Trick just brought it that aggressively early on with a real kinda punky energy that sounded amazing that weekend on that stage.
But I digress…I am interested in hearing this Fleetwood set from there though being as it’s a great set list from those first two Buckingham/Nicks era Lps which are still magical. That was quite the week at the Fabulous Forum…it’d be interesting to listen to this directly after Alive ll to hear the sonic differences between artists, PA and recording quality in the same space the same week
In ‘77 Fleetwood Mac did end their show with ‘Songbird’. It is ironic that Christine was to pass away & They released this live tour at around the same time. But maybe it was their tribute to her like you said. Yes great way to end this incredible band after all their years together.
Wow, this show was right after the three-night stay at the Forum that Kiss did for Alive II!
I've had it for quite a while. Live Mac is always great cuz you get extra Lindsey, but I think the standout for me was how incredible Christine and Stevie harmonize together on the album.
When I saw them in 1997 they played three single song encores. The second was "Songbird". I remember thinking (cuz I didn't know there was going to be a third encore), what an odd choice to close the concert with, especially since Christine was the only one on the stage. Then they came out and did the Beach Boys "Farmer's Daughter" and I wished that they just ended with "Songbird". Not that "Farmer's Daughter" wasn't cool...
When I saw them in 2014 the second and final encore was only "Songbird".
Wow ! Thank you for this review . I had no idea this existed .
I saw them at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto in July of 1977 , about 6 weeks before this show was recorded.
It was a great concert , and I've always wished that it would be available on CD .
It appears that Christmas comes early this year !
Cheers !!!!
Haven't had the chance to hear this yet but your review moves it up on the listening list. A big fan of Fleetwood Mac. My favorite album is from the Bob Welch era but the Buckingham Nicks era is great, too. Even saw the band in concert once and it was outstanding. With the comments elsewhere about Christine and Stevie and the set list puts it on the must hear list. Thanks for including this live album in this week's new product episodes, Pete.
Good heads up, Pete. Didn't know this existed. Gonna find it now. Saw them here at Cleveland stadium in 78, and would have loved to see this one in Cali
This looks fantastic. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks.
Wow. 5.0. Ok. Thx Pete for all your hard work 👍💯
it's stellar, I picked up the clear vinyl aswell
Bought this today! Wow very impressed with this album. It is very heavy for Fleetwood Mac. Maybe all there shows are like this. This live album is definitely one you should purchase!!!!!
I had no clue that this came out either. I just listened to it on TH-cam. All I can say is "WOW"!
hooray for archival live album releases! I will be giving this a listen later today.
I've been wondering about this. Thanks for the review. Wish it was on a DVD.
I can't wait to check this out. I didn't know that it was being released.
Thank you for talking about this, sounds really great; just ordered it.
Bought it on vinyl and am really enjoying it. Nice capture of a time and a place.
That was my first concert in SanDiego. Tickets were 12 bucks
something never to forget
I hadn't heard about this either. Just ordered a copy on vinyl.
The dance will always be my favorite Fleetwood Mac Live album. Lindsey Buckingham‘s version of big love is worth the price of the CD alone.
There's been circulating for years the boot from the show from '77 in Nashville. It's pretty epic.
Heard the rumours live today great music
This has to be about as great a set as this version of the band ever played. Far better to my ears than the official live album from 1980
Hey Pete! Waited for the reviews to come out before i ordered this one. Wanted to make sure the production and sound were good. It's excellent! Great show, wish i was there!🔈🔉🔊😎
As much as I try to listen to new bands and new music. This is my favorite album to come out this year.
Love these reviews dude 👍 I'll check it out .
didn't know it - love the album - have the vinyl will check it out. I love all the different FM "bands" or "eras" - great to investigate if anyone out there hasn't. Wolf is the expert! See his comment below.
Thx don't know about "expert" but I do like FM (all periods) a lot. About 40% of my FM collection is from the Green era (the Boston Tea Party live sets are a must - Joe Walsh even guests on one track, talk about two guitar legends letting loose). And 20% from the Bob Welch era. The rest is 1975 & later. Even though I have the least material from the Welch lineup that's my fave configuration, with Mystery To Me my fave overall album. I think their most underrated is Kiln House (with Spencer & Kirwan) containing three of their best-ever tracks: "Jewel Eyed Judy", "Station Man" & "Tell Me All the Things You Do"
I'll half to checkthis out pete. Just a side note I'm the one who sent you those charlie cds. They opened up for Fleetwood mac across Europe on the rumors tour. Read their bio in their anthology cd or one of the two newer cds also has a bio.
Cool! Only wish there was a film to go with it!
I just picked this up. Maybe it's just me, but I hear a 2nd guitar in the mix on at least a few of the tracks. Anyone know if they used second player off stage? Also, my only complaint is that John McVie could have been a bit higher in the mix. Christine is the real star here. Her songs aren't as strong in some cases, but her performance is so smooth.
That Songbird quote seems like a tribute to Christine.
Yep, Christie and stevie are definitely in there PEAKS 😀
looking forward to this but I wondered it's nice to see it's two CDs.
Because back about 2013 or so they released a rumors remastered and deluxe edition and the CD one I got has three. it's got the actual album it's got an amazing set of behind the scenes outtakes but it also has a live concert CD also so I was interested to see what this is going to be.
Fleetwood Mac "Songbird" great ballad NOT the Barbra Streisand 1978 song "Songbird"!!!
Not my fave FM album or lineup/period (for me it's Mystery To Me), but this is pretty good. Recorded in '77, same year as the studio album (about 6 months after Rumours was released), on their tour for that record. All tracks are from this version of the band & the 1975/77 albums except for "Oh Well". Rhino always does a good job so the sound quality is fine. I already owned a good amount of live FM but still found 7 tracks from this set to download - nice! Missing from the Rumours studio album are "I Don't Want to Know" & "Don't Stop", and from the s/t ('white album') it's "Warm Ways", "Crystal", "Sugar Daddy" & "World Turning"
World Turning is on this set.
@@seaoftranquilityprogI love world turning because people are surprised to see the high voice is Lindsay and the low voice is Christine.
@@seaoftranquilityprog Oops you're right, overlooked it...I download my music (mp3's) & already had another live version of that track from Transmission Impossible (1990) that's 22 minutes long (with some CRAZY slide work) so I skipped this one...
😄👍
Hey Pete did you hear about Christine's family/estate selling off her music catalog? It makes me wonder why? Although I have an idea...
Because they can make a ton of money from it? Why else?
@@peterberg8417 ~ Well I know that. I was thinking they must be really DESPERATE for money to sell her whole catalog off...
@@Deborahtunes Bruce Springsteen, Justin Bieber, Whitney Houston, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bowie, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Imagine Dragons, ZZ Top, Phil Collins/Genesis, Sting, Jason Aldean, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mötley Crüe, Brad Paisley. Yes even Stevie Nicks (in 2020)...The list is long
@@wolf1977 ~ So even though he's still alive, Bruce Springsteen's "family" sold his catalog?
@@Deborahtunes He sold it - that's the point. Whether the estate, the family or the artist sells it the motivation behind the sale can be the same. They could all be "desperate for money" as you put it
"Don't Stop" is missing, anyway it's one of my least favorites.
