@@slawcc Yes! Steeper average gradient, higher altitude (less oxygen, so lower power/speeds). Alpe d'Huez is also a tough climb though! I expect Vinegaard to drop Pogi tomorrow.
@@georgec2894 i hope he will not drop him but you must understend me I'm from Slovenia so i cheer for Pogacar and Roglic 😀 , its gonna be a good battle 💪
The glory days when no-one had a clue where anyone else was. Phil: ‘news coming through Millar is ahead of the Lemond Zimmerman group!’ TV: Millar is behind Lemond Zimmerman group.
The caption saying Millar is behind was added by me to avoid confusion for anyone watching on here. Liggett didn't have a clue, but funny how the Spanish and French commentators didn't have the same problem.
I just supported my 50 something pals over the Col de vars, Izoard etc as part of their Raid Alps. Took in CdI'seran, cime de Bonnet(highest paved public access road in Europe), Madelaine, Sestriere, Finestre, Roseland, Cenis and a fair few others.
30 Second's in Non -Aero brake levers , toe clips & straps,. I guess I should subscribe just for that footage & the nostalgia!🚴🏜️
This is an epic climb, changes so much the GC times
Possibly the hardest climb on the 2022 route, so studying up!
Hardest then alpe d huez?

@@slawcc I'm a fan of the Slovenians too, so let the best man win. I still see two Slovenians in the top 3 at the end of the race!
When you go up other cyclists will encourage you. Some kind of a graduation event.
The crowd have paid "up to £2 each". There's dedication!
I think it's probably Phil Liggett talking BS. Spectators used to be charged at the Puy de Dome but I doubt they were charged here.
Bring back the Combine Jersey...
El buen espectaculo en montaña lo daban los españoles¡¡¡¡perico, etxabe, lejarreta, chozas, belda, arroyo
A monster of a climb...
Expecting fireworks today. This is a brutal climb and will be harder than the Alpe tomorrow.
BTW - I love that caption at 3:46 lol. "Earth to Phil....wake up".
Fascinating how Sherwen's accent changed over the years.

He had Millar on the brain.

and today we do it again
'Millar will be the highest placed Englishman'... except he's Scottish... or British... def not English...
slow climbing = no epo at this time
LoL
Pogacar faced same fate as Hinault; lost the jersey for good
