I still love the packaging of this album, it beats every other box set they have ever put out. My copy is up on my wall signed by Paul Stanley and Peter Criss.
Thanks for the shout out brother. Glad you are still enjoying it.

      Hey John,
Definitely a great boxset especially since I couldn’t afford to buy all 3 albums at once when I was younger and this gave me the opportunity to do just that and get even more with the goodies...a definite win win for me and I’m sure others.
Thanks again so much for this copy! A few more grails from them that I don’t have and don’t really expect to come across during record digs but you never know...my fingers are always crossed 🤞 LoL.
      Take care buddy ~ Jeff

Great episode Jeff, thank you. The Canadian release is so hard to come across (especially now that ALL the private record stores in my area are still closed or gone since COVID) and has been on my KISS radar for sometime and would be considered a Holy Grail in my collection. It was great to see it in depth and up close in such great condition. Thanks again Jeff and keep these stellar videos coming !!!

    Hey Jeff,
GREAT to see you today! Actually I saw you late last night also. :D Very cool to see your KD 65F doing the needle drop duty today. Hmm... That makes me want to look for Canadian pressings on anything I get from here on out. IMO, vinyl records should come in a best packaging possible. It seems people who buy music in viynl format are the ones who are celebrating music makers. If they release these vinyl records in the best packaging possible, they are celebrating with their faithful supporters. I am sorry you used up your sticker but what you gonna do? At that age, you use it up and enjoy. I am bit surprised that you didn't save that notebook too tho; very unlike you. Welp, you are still Kisstorian in my book. ;) Besides that was very fun Kisstory video. Be safe and take care.

      Hey NammaN,
Happy first day of summer to you my friend!
I’ve been exercising the Kenwood turntable the past couple of weeks while I give the Audio Technica a little break...and maybe me too since it’s fully automatic compared to the fully manual one or maybe I’ve just been in a lazy mood as of late. I totally agree with you, the packaging should be the best it can be from any and all pressing plants to help support and protect your investment for a lifetime of listening enjoyment ! Yes I’m a bit surprised I didn’t keep the notebook myself but being it was full of school work that I wasn’t planning on using anymore is probably the reason it has been long gone or more likely I just stared a hole right through it and it never survived at all : ) LoL
Great hearing from you buddy as always ! I appreciate the kind words and support and Hope all is well on your end!

It’s nice to have all that stuff, now. I had a buddy that had this set when we were kids. I didn’t even know you could get these albums any other way. Ha ha. Hey, Jeff! I’m doing pretty well. Hope things are good with you, too! The Japanese pressings are very similar to the US pressings. If I remember correctly, it was the Japanese label that produced the Originals first and then someone from Casablanca saw what they were doing and borrowed the idea. Japan also got a cool set called the Originals 2 that included Destroyer, RARO, and Love Gun. The first Japan set looks almost identical to the US but I suspect the board used for the jacket is sturdier like the Canadian version. It came with the same booklet in English, and also the cards and sticker. However, it also includes an additional black and white booklet with a photo or two and the lyrics for all the songs in Japanese. I’m not sure how they compare, sound-wise, but Japanese pressings tend to be very good since they used fresh, never-used vinyl. For some reason, it’s also easier to find pristine copies from Japan as many copies were taken care of very well. I LOVE the interior gatefold of the Canadian pressing. Very cool.

Both pressings have some really good points and bad points about them like that US gatefold (not good) but the picture sleeves are much cooler than the plain white ones.
Hmmm maybe I’ll just combine the two and make the perfect pressing : ) what do you think? Good luck on the minty copy hunt and thanks so much for watching!

Brilliant video. The outer packaging and inner packaging was certainly cheap on the US version. Mind you, the regular LP's were a lot thinner than the UK versions. Not just Kiss albums, but most US albums. I have a US Import of Johnny the Fox by Thin Lizzy on Mercury Records. I only bought it as it was cheaper than the UK version.

@@JefferyRusnock Hi Jeff. There was only pressings for US, Canada and Japan. I was aware of the release either late 70s or 80s and was fascinated possibly because it was not available in the UK. One strange anomaly when Mr and mate got into Kiss mid 77 was that all the albums were issued as UK released on Pye Records and featured the Casablanca labels apart from Hotter than Hell. It was available as an import from the USA. For some reason HTH did not have the licensing in the UK at that time. It was then given a UK release later in 77. The six studio albums were also released late 77 in the UK. On red vinyl too. Not sure if the two live albums were on red vinyl though. My friend did get the ref vinyl Dressed to Kill around February/March 77, but ended up selling it. Just one more think. Looking on Discogs there is a listing for a blue vinyl issue of Love Gun in the UK in 1977 maybe upon its release. I have never physically seen a copy myself. www.discogs.com/Kiss-Love-Gun/release/12673434

Hi Jeff, very cool spotlight on the Originals. Bought my original copy in 1983 (used of course) and it was my intro to Dressed and Hotter on the vinyl format. Lost that one along the way but found another one for a dollar in a discount bin around 5 years ago which was a steal of the century. I have never seen a US pressing in person, i love how the inner sleeves were the actual album covers as opposed to the plain white sleeves of the Canadian. Beautiful kenwood LT turntable at the intro....when did u find that one?? Love Linear Turntables, its all ive used for about 12 years now and i could never go back to a conventional tonearm. Just way too convenient. Cheers! my Friend

    • @JefferyRusnock

      Hey Lee,
Let me get this right, you bought a second hand copy and lost it but found another second hand copy in a dollar bin! Wow what are the chances buddy? Maybe it was the copy you lost and found it once again ...how cool would that be? I like the picture sleeves myself but love the Canadian album cover more than the US, a combination of both would have been the perfect way to go in my opinion. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my Kenwood KD- 65F...I bought the entire Kenwood rack system back in 1987 brand new in a department store that included a CD player, dull cassette tape deck, 7 band equalizer, 4 channel 300 watt amplifier, along with the beautiful Kenwood column speakers behind me in the video and yes that linear turntable was part of the system as well and it all runs with a remote control system that was included and everything still works perfectly...more or less. Thanks so much Lee for watching, always a pleasure hearing from you my friend ! Would love to see a video on your turntable sometime and hear thoughts about them if you get some time.

Check out the hair. Great to see you again Jeff. I was hoping to see another Kiss related video from you and sure enough it is here. I am wondering why the labels sometimes print more info on the Canadian pressings than they do the domestic? If I had to choose between the two I would grab the Canadian pressings every time. I have always thought that they sounded a slight bit better than the domestic. Yes you can clearly see the better gatefold layout on the import. I like the orange Dressed To Kill the best. The print is sharp. As I get older it gets harder and harder to see the track listings on the labels. The blue would be the tough one for me. But I do like the colors instead of the regular Casablanca label. So in essence there was nothing new on the Originals triple album set? It looks like it was the first three albums all in one. So was this released so that the fans could buy all three albums for a lower price? Another signature and informative Kiss related post Jeff. I always enjoy these. Any all all info on the band's releases are welcome. Way to go Jeff. I feel blessed to have two Kiss historians in the VC~

      Hey Rob,
HAIR ...WHAT HAIR? I haven’t even noticed that my hair hasn’t been cut since March, I actually have a haircut appointment on the 26th of this month and boy I can’t wait to lose ten pounds instantly...LoL I don’t have many Canadian pressings but this one surly has plenty to read about : ) but to tell you the truth I wouldn’t want too much print on that beautiful Casablanca label to take away from the fantastic artwork of that center ring. I know exactly what you mean, I do believe that the Canadian is slightly better sounding. It may just be my imagination but that’s what I thought as well listening to both side by side on the same turntable and stereo equipment. I don’t think that they actually thought the packaging through very well on the US cover nor the impact it would have several years down the road with album cover ware, oh well doesn’t really matter now.
My favorite is the yellow center label and it just make the print pop every time I look at it. No new material for this album only reissues of the original 3 albums in new packaging to help introduce the albums that were overlooked and at a better price with extras, something that KISS has tried to do from the beginning of their career as performers for the fans.
Great hearing from you my friend ! Thank you so much for your kind words as always and for setting some time aside to watch...HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER Rob!
