Glad to find your channel. My first two years of coming back to comics, I spent about $2K but this year 2024 I went digital and I save the money for some keys I like to collect.
My experience with digital comics is mixed. The subscription services, at least a few years ago, when I had subscriptions to Marvel and DC, didn't allow access to new comics when they were released. You were always 3 to 6 months behind. Page layout, panel shape and size convey contextual information about story pacing that, I think gets lost in panel by panel reading, or conversion to webtoon format. Original digital material that is designed with bpb or scrolling is fine, but converting traditional comics to those formats loses something in translation. Tech wise, I never found a device that I was completely comfortable with. Phones and tablets, at least the ones I owned, were Never big enough to comfortably read a page. I'm hoping the digital game evolves to something I can work with, but for now, for me, physical media is where it's at.
IMO, everything shouldn’t be on the phone. We need a gadget that exclusively stores our comics, which delivers a comic experience that the legacy cannot provide. We need voice actor technology, animation, customization, the ability to store our comics in large volumes for a grab and go, brand interoperability w/ all brands DC, Marvel, Darkhorse, offline abilities and most of all autograph technology for our fav artist
I think making them best viewed on tablets is a good compromise here. Made to scroll but has parallax images. Characters should literally pop off the screen.
Underrated video man this was exactly what I was looking for and I think you’re only creator that nailed it in under 5 mins too! I mainly read manga on my phone but saw Deadpool and want to get into his stuff so I’ll probably try marvel unlimited then. Would I just search like “Deadpool” and all his stuff would come up?

I like to use my ipad to read. I use Marvel Unlimited and for TMNT I use Kobo Books. But of course still collect the trades and variants.
