I awoke dreaming of him singing this song this morning- had to hear it. I’m so grateful for YT. There will never be another Tony Bennett, one of greatest singers in the world. ♥️
Tony Bennett made this his signature song, and sad though it is, he just hits it out of the park every time he sings it. The joy in his phrasing, plus the perfection of his delivery, always brings the house down, as well it should. So great to see it done live!
Mr. Bennett! You will be remembered in perpetuity! You died of Alzheimer's at 96. Just last year! I was just 3 years old when you performed. This in 1965, which proves your memory will live on and on for generations! LOVE DAVE H.
QUE HOMBRE MAS ATRACTIVO TODA SU VIDA UNA VOZ GRAVE MARAVILLOSA CANTO HASTA SUS ULTIMOS DIAS RECORDABA SUS CANCIONES HA PESAR DE SU ENFERMEDAD EL ALZHEIMER HASTA SIEMPRE TONY NOS ENCONTRAREMOS EN ELCIELO🎹🎶🎵🎼😍😍😍😍😍😍
I remember this performance, I was very very young. My Dad was singing along on an occasional line. It was quite an impactful performance. What an individual sound and style. So authentic, touching people’s hearts, connecting.
@Bred maybe you are not aware that he went through a long period where he couldn't sell tickets.....but his true fans always supported him because they identified with him through songs like this one which helped to make him popular.. GET IT?
Tony Bennett no singer before or after can come close to singing with so much feeling and emotion telling a story like tony Bennett does he leaves Sinatra in the dust Phil caggiano
just watching Decades TV Ed Sullivan show and there was Tony with Woody Herman orchestra singing this. Thanks for the post, I had to see it again. Once just ain't enuf when it's Tony Bennett!! LOVE THIS MAN!!
Wow..just….wow. Thank you for posting thins, ESS! What a performance. And this is why I prefer live versions. Tbh, never cared too much for the studio version of this song, This just blows my mind. The little miscue at the reprise where the band comes in at the end=what a band! They were GOOD! And Mr. B went with it, used it in his delivery, you know? Such a pro. So much to learn from these clips, so much to enjoy. Keep em comin! :)
This why Tonny Bennet is still cranking it out at the age of 95. He's what you call Top Shelf... he's like a fine wine... he just gets better with age!! The Best of the Best! Thank you for sharing! 💖
Tony a better singer and performer than Frank Sinatra, in my opinion. This appearance on Ed Sullivan only reinforces that view. I love Frank, don't get me wrong, but Tony could wring so much more emotion from a song and his voice range is amazing.
I really like Tony Bennett he was on The Judy Garland show once or more times I was only 7 when it was on but I do remeber the clips from it on You Tube and Channel 24 in Milwaukee on TV had it on her show every weekend theyd show one of her shows froM her TV shows !
@2:07 What a last note!!! Cheers!
Sinatra said he was the best. He was and has left a legacy of classic songs. He wiil be forever remembered 😢😢
Sitting here with tears and my one month old baby boy-we played the greatest hits LP yesterday and he loved it.
No big band BS, just Tony and a mic.
... and some very fine piano, double bass and drums.

ONE of his signature songs. I’d say “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” is his true signature song.
Bravo! He was (and still is) a fantastic singer. RIP Mr. Bennett.
good lord...........i love Frank............but THAT was amazing. Tony is his prime........Sublime

To Tony Bennett interpreting a tune was like a conversation.
What a great and true comment.
So romantic. I love jazz in the 1950s and 60s.
R. I. P Tony you will truly be missed by me and millions of people around the world
Tony Bennett. The Best! Most beautiful human being. Great Voice. Great Artist. Great person. A loving talented man filled with love for us. Thanks

Still like Frank better though this is an exceptional performance. Frank had a much better stage presence than Tony ever did but Tony does shine here.
No he doesn’t
Tony is "The Best". The greatest human person on the planet earth with the most love on this planet. Love you..
There’s only one word I can think of after a performance like that, and it’s Amen!

12 sec note twice (back to back).
💕
Who's best, him or Frank? Or there's no point in comparing the two?
