- The tragedy that befell Pan Am Flight 103 in December 1988 has gone down as one of the worst terrorist attacks in history. Reggae legends Sly Robbie, Maxi Priest, Dean Fraser and a host of musicians were booked on that ill-fated flight but a strange last minute decision by Freddie McGregor saved their lives.

What a lucky escape. God was watching over them. Very sad for those people who lost their lives in the plane crash.
Unreal story. Thank You.We could have lost Sly & Robbie...!!!!! Yow. We've lost enough Reggae Icons.
Wow, I had never heard this story. There was one Caribbean musician who sadly perished on that flight, the Vincentian calypsonian, Walter Porter. One day when I have time, I'd like to start doing some videos like these for calypso and soca music history, there are a lot of interesting stories there that need to be told as well.
Would love to hear them as I'm from the caribbean I love calypso an soca
Start now bruh....Time flies...😎
I definitely heard about Sly and Robbie missing the flight back then but not the complete story
A woman from Somerleyton rd Brixton was also on the plane can't remember her name
Yes you should.
RAS dropping 💎 as usual. This one is really interesting. I feel that Freddie had a preminition mercifully so. Blessed love to Freddie I beg he is a lot better. ❤️ 💛💚🖤
Thanks for sharing yet again another profound story! ❤ Freddie inspiration, saved their lives

,....( Wink )..
That was a close shave for them artists. I've never heard this before . At the time I was more into my pop music but maxi priest add a view records in charts in 1988 I was a bit of a maxi priest fan because he was born in the same hospital as me Lewisham.. who knows maybe Freddie McGregor add that silent voice from the gut not the brain that's the one what you have to listen to.. and I'm glad that all of the singers was ok but my heart goes out to the people who lost their lives in the plane crash . Evil evil terrorists and it's still going on to this day ..💯🇬🇧👍
CIA planted it.
Condolences to all the bereaved. Peaceful rest to those whose lives were cut short. Give thanks for intuition & heeding that inner voice even when we can't "justify" it. May it always protect. 🖤💛💚❤

Wow😮!!! Man, give thanks Freddie for that moment of divine inspiration🙏🏿...
Freddie is a true man of God … deeply and spiritually rooted 🙏
I met Freddie M back in the 90s. If I can say one thing about him. He is very humble.
He Seems L8ke It!❤👍
Jah protect Freddie McGregor. 👏👏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
This is very sad story, I did hear about it but I did not know it like your video. I lived in Trinidad as a child and came to England in 1988 to live. I remember hearing the story about the flight many times, it was an awful tragedy. RIP all the innocent people who lost their lives.
Freddie McGregor is one of my favourite Reggae artists, he has the most spectacular voice, definitely one of the greatest Roots artists ever. I'm so glad he made that choice to change everybody's flight.
Thankyou for this video
Reggae forever ❤💛💚
And glad the others agreed

Thanks to the Most-High, they lived to pump out a catalogue high intensity and sophisticated reggae sounds. Jah Bless!🙏🏾🤲🏾📿
My sister and I were flying Lufthansa from Nairobi to Frankfurt on that day felt really weird when dad picked us up too much tension in the air only learnt about the accident when we got home and spoke to mom who kept asking if we are ok like 1000 times, may the passengers of PAN AM continue to rest in peace.
Incredible story...First time hearing about this....Thank God for them..
Freddie McGregor is AMAZING! ❤
Awesome video...... thanks very much....... a lot of reggae fans probably didn't know that

Divine timing. Thank God their flight was changed 🙏🏽
Woe, I had no idea. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Huge fan of Freddie.
I went to Suthermere Prep back in the day. Freddie brought his daughter to and from school every day. I used to watch them, and think, what a good father.
They were truly blessed avoiding that tragic disaster, god is great 🙏🏽
Great and interesting info RAS, thank you for the share - We remember those who perished and the families they left behind 🙏
Man I Love Reggae as much as I Love Aviation. I knew of other air tragedies that took Musicians lives, but never knew of this one. Big Kudos I Dread!

So sad for those that didn't make it ❤❤
Thank you for sharing this video and story with us, brotha.
Wow, this is some news.
I'm glad that TMH used Freddie McGregor to 'save' these young men from boarding that flight!
That was indeed a sad thing that happened to all those innocent people. However, it was a blessing for all those musicians that they missed that flight. God is good!!🙏🏾🖤💯
I have had the privilege of meeting one reggae artists and seen two of them live in concert. I met in person rupee Edwards and in concert I see John Holt with Freddie McGregor brilliant brilliant. Get well soon sir.💯🇬🇧👍
Brilliant story teller

Shocking! Thank you for sharing.
Thamk you for sharing this.
JAH guidance!
Thanks for sharing this story. I have never heard this before. I was good friends with Maxi Priest’s cousin who is from St. Bess. Sometimes following our intuition is the way to go. Sadly, sometimes that feeling is overridden by other people’s influences. Guess the same can be said conversely. It’s call life. Bless up
I knew about Max not going on the flight but I didn't know about the rest. Thanks for the knowledge
Freddie must have had a dream about the plane going down or something similar. Thank God Sly, Robbie and Maxi decided not to take the same flight after all. RIP to all those who perished and thank you for telling this story. It's my first time hearing it.
or it was a coincidence.
@@marfaxa I don't believe so.
Freddie had a dream to go shopping for family in a warm place… 😊
No dream...Just a decision similar to ones we make everyday, change of plans...It just happened they avoided that tragedy...The ones who perished(RIP) would have loved to have miss that flight too and lived longer...Robbie has now passed...Long life to the rest...That's life as we know it.....#Peace#Love..
@@markanthony1523 As a dreamer I know that some things come as visions before they happen. I'm not discounting the fact that it could be a total coincidence, but I honestly feel like God warned him in one way or the other before the trip.
Shout Out To Freddie McGregor..❤🙏💥

Somewhere a little daughter, son, wife, girlfriend, unknown persons or a member of the group was praying for the group. I hope they all give thanks to God Almighty and have a prayer session.
I heard that Sly and Robbie missed the flight but it seems that was just part of the story, thanks for the additional information.

HEARD SO MANY STORIES ABOUT THE LOCKERBIE BOMBING....FIRST TIME HEARING ABOUT FREDDIE MUST HAVE USE HIS SIX SENSE FOR HIM & HIS CREW NOT BOARDING THE FLIGHT. CONDOLENCES TO ALL THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES.
In 2024 you can really see how the high standard and performance of Jamaican artists in music ,has really declined and fallen , when compared to these greats who set the standards very high worldwide, bringing spiritual joy , and real luv to their people.
High standards? The music is the same, singing about sex, slackness, guns, drugs, murder, money worship... nothing has changed but the times.
@@No_Frills_Carnivore Then you have not been listening to the right music.
@@Alyisha6 I've been listening to reggae and roots reggae all my life. Both of my parents are Jamaican. Maybe it's you who isn't listening to the lyrics. Maybe you don't understand them..? I can name many reggae songs from way before I was born that are full of sex, drugs and murder. I was born in 79. There are plenty. The music/lyrics haven't changed. Only time has.
Many Jamaicans are still doing excellent music.
Very true
We loved some Maxi Priest in our house. when I was a young girl
🙏🏽🔥🔥🔥✝️ Hallelujah glory Amen, divine intervention .
I remember hearing about this at the time.
No one does but delay death so keep breathing my people 🙏🏽
Yes Freddie is a lot better he is on tour of Africa where he stood up. God bless him with long life ❤️❤️❤️
Can you pls help me with the title of the soundtrack playing in the background? Thank you
Yes Freddie, Jah Jah.
""INTUITION"" is usually an alert or guidance from the HOLY SPIRIT. ANGELS were keeping charge over them.
Crazy thing is I never heard of Maxi Priest until ‘90.
JAH RASTA FARI LIVE. BIG UP FREDDIE
Well done King !! Royal
What ment for evil the Father turn in to good, the days when you could trust friends 😊😊❤

HalleluYah, ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST-HIGH YAHUAH for working through Freddie to save our talented artists going for a Miami shopping spree instead. Sad the fan travel agent died and all those people.

I went to that 1988 show!
Remind me of Richie labamba
Give the message Freddie, because I'm not ready to receive those souls ,their work isn't completed
I dreamt about this happening and was woken up and told the news. This was 21st Dec, my birthday. Terrible and evil.
Freddy McGregor must have been inspired by ALUAH... that's why HE is merciful to him... recover soon Freddy we love you 😘💕

Sometimes we have to listen to another person’s thoughts and prophetic words…even our own self talks to self and guides us on the right path…In everything give thanks…🙌🏽♥️😇☮️🗝🌿💯😊
FREDDY is also one
Chartered flights can be an option 👀
I did not know this
💯💯💯💯💯
Didnt the 'Taxi team' also played the Town & Country club in London on that tour ?
A problem with 'I just missed death flight' stories being the PAN-Am had taken off in Germany ( to fly to London)... English singer John Lydon of Public Image Ltd stated he ( & his wife Nora) missed this flight as Nora wasn't 'ready in time ' ...
Wow!!!
WOW!
Strange how they fly north west to get to New York from London😊..
Jah Bless
❤️🍀❤️
saved judy mowatt too ,remember black woman album
Background sound was disturbing to LISTEN to your reporting..
Why y'all worrying about them being on the flight? Too much greatness on that plane for it to go down like that. God wouldn't have made it crash after he blessed us with everyone of these icons therefore, they all wouldn't have been gone in one hit like that, people relax.
You are joking. Planes have gone down carrying greater people. People who have made more impact on the world.
WOW! Freddie was/is one of my favorite artists. However in 1989/90..I worked at an airline in Montego Bay Jamaica.Freddie was on an overbooked flight that was delayed.I had to rebook him to Miami I think.I got him upgraded to 1st Class on a flight. When I told him ,he didn't act like he cared. He wanted another flight on another Airline.I made it happen. For years I was turned off.I kinda understand why he was like that.Makes sense. At the time I was crushed .Ah..well .
NICE TO SEE A WEE VID ON ANYTHING TO DO WITH MISTY IN ROOTS.
The Lord saved the RIGHTEOUS! And took the rest to his breast.
I thought you get off one plane then straight onto another at a plane stop and not have enough time to venture into town or city when a plane has a stop off point. Perhaps they could all find and afford there sleeping a accommodation etcetra and the plane stop wasn't immediate then. Different times and runnings then.
I heard about this from a cousin of Maxi priest that he just tore the ticket up but now I know
Freddie my Bredda. Alwys Hail him Up n a Miami. Smetng I did w My Mthr. Bcz of a Big Fuss, she Miss her Flight. Which Crashd n d Everglades. I Think Sprint Airlines.
