- Today we walk through three levels of a home studio monitoring setup, from a minimal production setup to something you might see in a full service recording studio. There is so much to cover when it comes to setting up YOUR own studio, that we couldn't possibly cover everything in one video.
If there is anything specific you'd like a video on, or any questions you have, please leave them in the comments below!

ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.
The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

Super helpful. Thank you! 🙌
Thanks for watching!
D3V are nobel prize worthy. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my family. I have no room at all. I assume i'm not the only one who has this going for them. But these monitors are a gift from Germany. For real.
@nomad1517 We're glad to hear they work well for you!
So happy that I have your set up 3 with the A8H's in my mixing room. I upgraded from my Kali IN-5's and although I loved them the Adams give me more midrange clarity, more power and paired with my Kali WS-6.2 sub and running through ARC 4 correction software the sound is clean, crisp, full and accurate. I love it! 😎
@kadiummusic Wow, sounds like an amazing setup! :)
Just finishing my T5V 7.1.4 Atmos room. so far, so good. I love that there are no detents on the volume knob. This makes tuning much more precise.
@ObservationAudio Awesome, sounds great! :)
I have tried all brands and models of speakers that should be the best the last 20 years and never been 100% satisfied. Many speakers sound great with pop music and electronic music, but when it comes to Rock & Hard Rock, these mixes tend to sound flat on speakers, but not on Adam speakers. When I tried A7X, I knew the search was over. The crispy sound from distorted guitars is always a challenge for speakers. I think a big reason that this works with adam speakers is the godlike ribbon tweeter. It also delivers the best phantom center effect I ever heard. The bass is also incredible for the speaker size, so no need for a sub
Hi @FlightdeckJohnny, so good to hear that! :) Greetings from Berlin!
Just got the D3V, very impressed!
Amazing! Thanks for choosing ADAM Audio and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions 🙌
Great video, mate!! Love my A7V and D3V setups!!
Fantastic! Thanks for watching and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions about your monitors in the future 👍

Hello! Is A7V suitable for auiophiles?
@@beslemeto I use the A7V for my PC audio system. I paired them with an SVS SB-3000 subwoofer and Geshelli JNOG3 dac. It makes a kick ass 2.1 system for music and games. The D3V are for my MacBook Air audio. I'm not a music producer or engineer. I just love listening to great music and playing great games on my computers. The A7V replaced a pair of KEF LS50 Metas and Parasound power amp. I think the A7V blow away my KEF speakers.
@@Mad.Maxx.77 That's great! Is their sound spacious and dimensional? How would you describe their sound?Sorry to disturb you,but i just want want to have an idea about their sound before i purchase them...Thanks in advance!
I have the T7V and I'm just so happy man
Hi @athankaz, So good to hear that! :)
T7V is also a great choice for a full-service studio!
@jayarecordsofficial Thanks for your trust! 🥰
I have a pair of T5V and they are just great, so I'm thinking about getting the D3V's as well for other purposes. Could you please tell me how long the intersection cable between the two D3V speakers is?
Hey Andreas, the connection cable is 2 meters 👍
Great video ❤
🙌
any ETA on when the gate issue on the D3Vs will be fixed?
We are always working on ways to improve the D3Vs and will be developing firmware updates for the near future. No definite ETA but will be sure to send out an update when it is ready.
Great video! I'm owning and looking for non featured products though, so tough luck for me haha.
I've been very happy with my T5V's so far, looking to upgrade soon to A7V's since I also use sonorworks! Relative small studio, so I'm guessing 7" woofer is already on the limit..
I'm working on post production sound and have a 5.1 surround setup (currently all T5V's with a T10S). I assume I just by-pass the internal DSP when I'll replace the main stereo pair with A7V's. Have the soundID software run like I do now, when I mix in 5.1 And use the internal DSP with sonorworks when I work in stereo.
Hi @bartgroot3672! Sounds like a great setup! If you have any further questions regarding an upgrade, feel free to reach out to us via DM or directly to our support team here:

Greetings from Berlin!
Will the D3Vs connect to my T10S woofer?
Yeah I have both
@ what kind of cables did you need to connect from the sub to the speakers then to an audio interface? The inputs on these speakers are throwing me a bit.
@@JakeNicholson-nn6vo depending on your interface. I have an apollo so it was 2 female xlr to trs 1/4 inch and 2 male xlr to trs 1/4 inch
@qz306 ok, that makes sense. I've got a Focusrite, and I'm pretty sure that would be the same setup. Thanks!
hey guys, im planning to buy the dv3s, what subwoofer do you recommend to pair em up with?
Hi @manonmars82!
Depending on your budget and needs, we would recommend using the T10s or the Sub 8 :)

I have the A8H's in my home studio and I love them, just curious, what monitor stands are you using in this video ?
These are sound anchor stands. Thanks for choosing ADAM Audio!
stupid question, is there any sonic benefit to running both the d3 & t7 in a treated bedroom studio, other than SPL? Asking for my GAS lmao
Great question. While not a necessity, many studios will have multiple sets of reference monitors in their studio, allowing them to check their mixes on a larger system with more low -end while also checking with speakers with a more limited range, making sure that the elements of the song are represented well in both. Here's a great video on some of the benefits of multiple sets of monitors in your studio: th-cam.com/video/hOQ3GhAe150/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fRU5C8JzMQBNUny4 Hope this helps 👍
Cool, tho i would need D3H lol ... Guess you cant rotate the tweeter 90° can you?
The tweeters on the D3Vs cannot be rotated, but an interesting point about a D3H. Maybe something in the future 🤔
Since my 8" M-Audio monitors broke, I am looking for a new pair. They will be connected to a Scarlett 2i2 4th gen. Would you recommend the T7V, T8V, or A7V model? I need monitors that can be used without an external subwoofer and still provide enough low-end.
Check forums, check room size, low end position , and front "a7v" or back bass port like "t7v".. or just go 8 inch. Watch out for pushing too much the low end, or max db level out of speakers.. speaker equalization. Adam has their own tips with manual. check for speakers specs, if u can, rt-20 (reverb time), phase ... my 2cents
Hi @dzejovski! The A7V reaches down to 40 Hz at -6dB. If you need more Lowend for your productions and don't want to add a subwoofer, we can recommend looking at our 8" models like the A8H or the T8V. If there is anything else we can assist you with, feel free to let us know!
I just wish the Sub7 wouldn't die just outside of warranty 😢 seems to be a common issue based on a Google search
Dude literally just happened to my Sub 8, I'm trying to access the fuse? Pleeeeeease tell me you've found some sort of solution :( there's no schematics or anything anywhere online
Check out the Kali WS-6.2, it's incredible! I have one paired with my A8H's and it's wonderful.
😎
Hi @ClarkyAv! We're really sorry to hear about that! Please reach out to our support team here, so we can find out what's the issue with your subwoofer:

Greetings from Berlin!
Yes, sadly my experience of Adam speakers is that they develop some sort of fault immediately after the warranty period expires. Then the cost of shipping them to Adam so they can then charge for repairing them is prohibitive.

what are these stands?
I think they are sound anchors adj2
@@olivermckenna9615 Correct, they are sound anchor stands 👍
As the fellow responder said, having an on/off switch on the D3v would have been another way around the auto standby mode. I have boxed up my D3Vs and went back to my iLouds. The D3V has become useless as normal speakers ony PC. I have a 9-5 job from home. They just turn off without you knowing. I missed some alerts on basic tools such as MS teams and whatsapp. Just because they were off.
This is besides the poor lack of support for the usb connection. People can say they’re happy with 16-Bit. But you bought it expecting it can be used in 24 bit.
I know nothing is perfect but the stuff that is wrong just make them fail as just “speakers”.
Just to note they do sound great with using them in “Option 2” of this video. When they don’t go on stanby and start frustrating you.
Hi @josebarron4626!
Thanks for your feedback! We're working on a improved firmware version which will include the option to turn off the standby mode completely. We hope that will make the use of the D3V more convenient.
Greetings from Berlin!
@josebarron4626 Also regarding the off-switch: the knob on the front can be pressed for 2 seconds to turn off the speakers :)
No worries. Have them safe for the moment. They sound great driven by an audio interface. I had them attached to a Massdrop Grace Dac Balanced. I thought they would not go standby on an interface. 😢
Will hope the fix comes out soon. It’s in box not doing anything.
I don’t want to be a troll but the manual stated it as standby. I had to read the manual a few times looking for the sample rate setting if it was stated anywhere.
@josebarron4626 Yes, that's correct. Even though it is stated as a standby mode in the manual, the loudspeaker is technically off. I hope this helps you out!
Why, oh why, do the D3Vs not have a bloody on/off switch!?! Having to unplug them from the mains is a giant PITA, enough that I regret having bought the bloody things. I can't imagine it would have added more to the price than the integrated stands or the backlit logo, so why isn't there a damned switch?
You can just press and hold the volume knob for 2 seconds and they'll turn off..
@@edisonpep8404 you beat me to it. Could also say “glance at the manual” but I believe it’s also printed on the back of the speaker.
