  • I received this watch as a Christmas gift from my mother (thanks mom) and it has been nothing short of fantastic. Today we discuss the Sangin DLC "DARK" Overlord. Enjoy.

    Hey man. I came here after seeing your SOTC on TGV's channel. Just wanted to say I'm absolutely loving the videos. Loving how genuine both what you say and the actual videos are with no over the top edits or effects. Don't mind the trolls. So brave on here but tell to them serve and will be running like p*ssies. Would love to here more about your philosophical takes on watch collecting and even a bit about how it relates to your life if you don't mind. Currently have a Navi but I'm thinking about a silver datejust, green Santos, or longines sector for the next dressy piece. All great watches so on the fence. Glad to be a small part of this pal.

      Thank you so much for your support of my channel and its content. Comments like these are what motivate me to keep pushing forward in this game. I do what I can to put forth substantive content while still putting the responsibilities of serving on active duty first.
      I”ve always envisioned making a more philosophical video like the one you described, but until recently I haven’t thought of a good way to execute on that idea. Right now, It’s a work in progress.
      Not that my opinion matters, but if I were you, I’d get either that datejust or the Santos. Two classics, both of which you’d pay a lot for, but get a lot of satisfaction from if you wear them.

      @@WornDownCrown I think just be yourself and say what you feel like saying, man. That's what makes you unique imo. In the end of the day, these mechanical watches are living with and through us. If we die and there's no one to pass onto, they stop and die too. Our life and energy powers them. No other object does that. It's a human's mark on the thing that keep us here and ends us all, time.
      I think you can read my mind. The silver datejust is something special. I feel like the Santos, and Cartier in general, have such great ergonomics and design like no other brand, at least for my tiny wrist. That square shape, who else executes it so perfectly? Yet, the finishing is on the lower side for the price. Cartier get away with a lot for their brand name. Grand Seiko, on the other hand, great finishing but rubbish bracelets and none of their cases really suit my wrist. DJ I think is best midway between both extremes. Sector is sexy too tho. If only I was a millionaire. Rose gold rootber is the grail over here too. Anyway, looking forward to what you put out pal.

    Nice watch! I came to your channel from your collection video on TGV. As a Marine veteran I am impressed at the collection you have amassed! I look forward to more of your videos. Keep up the good work.

    Nice to see someone who genuinely knows how to field test the watch in different environments and the give a review

      Thanks 🤙 If you haven’t yet, go watch my Artem straps reviews. I put the loop-less straps through hell and back.
      I don’t do reviews straight out of the box on this channel. That’s not a true product review and it’s just bad form for a content creator.

    Solar watches don’t work well under a uniform sleeve, or if you frequently run night ops.

    • @WornDownCrown
      @WornDownCrown  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a good consideration, I hadn’t thought of that tbh. I spend most of my time wearing my sleeves up, and when I am sleeves down, I usually have them cuffed slightly so that my watch is exposed. But I can see how that might be an issue

    How do the Sangin pieces compare to Elliot Brown?

    Marathon watches are very popular here in Canada. How does the Sangin compare?

    • @WornDownCrown

      I couldn't tell you because I don't own any marathons. but I've heard nothing but good things about marathon. I will say, Sangin Automatics are cheaper than some Marathons.

      @@GabrielDernst Tudor Pelagos FXD in black. Tudor Pelagos 39. Glycine Combat Sub. Omega Seamaster Professional 300m, and the Rolex submariner if you’ve got the money for it. All tool watches, all used by soldiers at one point or another, all pretty tough.

      @@WornDownCrown my bad, I meant watches that aren't main stream. I used to wear Glycine when I was on active duty in the Marine Corps. Thanks anyway.

      @@GabrielDernst independents and microbrands are harder to recommend since a) there’s a ton of them out there and I don’t have experience with or access to all of them, and b) their track record for reliability is unproven. It would be like recommending a startup optics maker over the Trijicon ACOG.
      What I can say about Sangin though is that they’ve really been pushing the limits of their R&D department lately. Their latest Neptune release had a regulated SW300 movement, 300m water resistance, and ceramic ball bearings on the milled clasp. The overlord is currently in stock, and they’ll be doing a drop of their Merlin line soon, which is more diver-styled.

    If someone is checking out watches to see if the ‘grey man’ is a plain clothes operator, then they’re definitely going to ping the guy wearing a sangin watch as well as a gshock.

    • @WornDownCrown
      @WornDownCrown  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sangin right now is a IYKYK type piece, so it’s going to be harder to spot than a g shock, but I think as the brand becomes more mainstream it will become a dead-giveaway.
      Totally agree with you on the G-shocks, btw, there’s no hiding what you do when you wear one of those
