    I've had the huge desk top cctv for about 20 years nearly because I simply can't afford to shell out thousands for the smaller options. I'm actually going to go buy this now and hope the price in the UK is similar.
    Thanks Sam, this has put a huge smile on my face.

    Really just goes to show how overpriced assistive technology is. eSight glasses retail for $10,000 but they don't have more than $4,000 worth of hardware and that's being generous.
    Thanks for the good videos man love what u do

      I know! While that stuff is great, I wonder who do they think are going to be able to afford that stuff outside a government/social services agency?

      I agree with you completely. And I think there is far less money in making that device than $4,000. I tried the Eastside glasses the newest edition and they are a great concept however did not work for me. But did I think they were worth 10 grand no way no how.
      It's nice to know that they're going down on their price a little bit. LOL
      Think of it this way they have a gaming device called the Oculus quest which cost only $400 and can do far superior things than the Eastside glasses. All it would take is one programmer to make a software for that particular device as it is an Android based portable gaming console. It has a battery life of almost 5 hours. Eastside can't come close to that.

    Just bought it! Go Sam, go!! I have hated that “assistive technology” is so expensive!! I have a cctv that is at least 20 years old. It reciently stopped working.i spent several months struggling to get it fixed and could not find a local repair shop. I didn’t want to have to shell outmore money for shipping.... luckily my friend had a friend who was able to fix it. I paid about 1/2 the original cost of it when i bought it 2nd hand- i wasn’t looking forward to replacing it with something new. Mow, ooooo,baby,looking forward to this!! Thanks Sam!!!😎👍🏽😺😂. Oooo, it just hit me, early birthday present to my self!🎂

    Thanks, Sam. This product looks great. I went to Amazon to order and read the reviews. First, the Amazon price is way higher than the price on the company website, so don't buy it on amazon. Second, the wireless connection is through the devices own wifi network, meaning that you can be on the internet wile using the camera wirelessly (though you with it wired to your computer). That limits the usefulness of the wireless conneciton option, so I might go with the less expensive green version that connects either with HDMI or USB. I reached to IPEVO to ask if they are planning to come out with a different wireless connection option, but no answer yet.

    Thank you Sam. I had bought a simpler IPEVO device a couple of years ago, but this one looks like it would be much more functional for low vision use. The one I have does a high quality scan, but you have to use your computer to change colors or increase the size.

    Great review, Sam. I use the earlier generation of this from IPEVO and it has worked very well for me. We bought several of them at my school for document cameras. This model is far more versatile with better resolution, and I could use it in my teaching. It's going on my wish list. Oh, yea, please review the OCR for the IPEVO.

    Great minds think alike - I got one of these delivered here on Friday. I think it's cool, especially for the price, there's some quite bad image ghosting though at higher magnification. Definitely not the best, but considering the price it's pretty damn good

    Do you know of a product that has a distance camera that will connect wirelessly to help students see the board? It needs to be able to zoom from 15-20 feet away and connect to a chromebook or windows computer. I've been looking for years for a small portable camera, because so many of my students want discrete and would rather no see the board than to have a large piece of equipment. Does IPEVO VZ-X view the info on a whiteboard from 15 feet away?

    Hey Sam awesome video man! This just may be exactly what I'm looking for! Yes please make a video on the software. I would also love to see how well it magnifies a book and how comfortable it would be to write on a piece of paper. I also read all the details on their site, it doesn't say anything about the magnification power or warranty.

    Can I use this device to scan my book collection? I looked at CZUR and other similar book scanners but there is something about the ipevo scanner that I find appealing. One other thing is that it supports Linux which I use all the time.

    G'day! Thanks for this helpful review. Question: My intent is to use it mainly for taking photos of 12"x12" photo scrapbook pages. Would you estimate I could get the image to fit this 12"x12" dimension and the resolution of the camera going to be decent enough for viewing (and maybe printing) some photos digitized from it? Any idea on what dpi I'd have on a photo of a 12"x12" photo page?

    Is it any good for distance? Say for a classroom setting? if so this is a God send

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can see things very well across the room in my house so I would say yes. However, a classroom is much larger and I haven’t tested it in those types of situations. You may be able to do some research and find other videos for the same product which show it in those types of situations.

    Hey Sam, I am a person suffering from low vision. I'm 20 and i wish to be a stock market trader. So, could you suggest me some options for a comfortable experience ? I'm new to this kind of assistive tech. Thanks

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a lot that goes into that. It greatly depends on your goals and what you want to accomplish. It’s something you’ll have to discuss with a low vision specialist. It will take time to figure out a plan and recommend products. I would recommend going to a low vision center in your area if possible. Or perhaps attending a conference or convention.
