  • Is plate fixation better than tension-band wire fixation for treatment of olecranon fractures? The investigation by Dr. Duckworth and colleagues helps us weigh the pros and cons of these surgical techniques to arrive at this decision.
Watch this audiovisual representation to know more about their findings, published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery in 2017.

I had done my left hand TBW surgery. It's been around 8monts running. Now I can do push ups and i can left 40 to 50kg. But m in still recovery conditions.. If any one watching this video before surgery don't worry it will be fine, just do some exercise after one or half month of your surgery..

I remember I had to go surgery for just a broken elbow, gave me some disgusting strawberry-flavored sleeping gas and woke up in a fluffy bed with some IV water in my vein.

Had my TBW surgery in May and couldn’t move my hand or arm after it without severe pain. Nearly 4 months later and I have around 90% motion back. Just need to be able to move my wrist a bit more and I’m done. Should be heading back to the gym in the next few months. Went a lot better than expected!

@@sumanth94 I went through 6,5 months of physical therapy 5-6 times a week and I still wasn't able to extend my arm, I was stuck at maybe 75 degrees. Flexion wasn't that bad, with time I got to a point where I could almost touch my shoulder. Then I had another surgery in October, they removed the wires and the calcification that build up in my elbow and they also released the pressure on my ulnar nerve (I had some troubles with my pinky and ring finger after the first surgery). They also straightened my arm while I was unconscious so I now got my extension back. I'm back to physical therapy, I'm missing about 5 degrees to full extension. Two months ago when I started PT my flexion was 75 degrees and now it's 115, so there's progress. However they stitched me very weirdly and now I have a weird deformation on the elbow, nothing concerning, just weird to look at. It's been a journey is all I can say. After the fracture and first surgery I spent 3 weeks in cast and my surgeon now tells me it was too long of a period for the muscles to not move so that's probably what made this all so difficult.
