  • I have been using the Iron-Neck Pro for around two months.
    I used the device about twice per week to incorporate specific neck strengthening using the Iron Neck Pro.
    Giving myself some time to really put the piece of equipment to use gave me a solid perspective on the ins and outs and whether it was something I thought was beneficial for me and whether it can be useful for others.

      I can’t provide specific medical advice as I don’t know your exact medical history, but I do feel that the Iron Neck can be beneficial for those who deal with herniated discs. The Iron Neck is nice in the way it works and it does not compress the neck when used.
      I would advise you to chat with your doctor of physical therapist who has a better knowledge of your specific neck issues to see if they agree and recommend it.

      Yes and also do wim hoff breathing before each set so your body is saturated with oxygen before each set, will keep your BP down and will give your more strength, also put ice packs on your wrists inbetween sets for more energy and strength before each set, alternate the ice packs on your wrist every 90 seconds

    Best neck exercises for someone who hurt their neck getting triangled over a year ago? I fixed it once a month ago just stretching, it popped and felt like something moved into place and off the nerve and felt at least 90% better, but then I hurt it again just making my bed a week ago. It is kind of depressing.

    • @norfolknwhey4787
      @norfolknwhey4787 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be as simple as strengthening the supporting muscles along your cervical spine. Easing your way into neck strength training, combined with a good chiro, and massage therapy could have you on your way to a solution.
      I hurt my neck in a BJJ tourney years ago, and after tons of Ortho visits and worthless “treatment” methods, it turned out to be a combination of a poorly fitted pillow and weak supporting muscles. It took 6mo of consistent chiro, strength, and rigorous sports massage therapy, and I haven’t had an issue (fingers crossed) for quite a while.

    • @josephbenuzzi159
      @josephbenuzzi159 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How important is the resistance for building strength and not merely rehabbing? Just moving your head under consistent tension SEEMS like it would be pretty effective without the resistance, no? If you have to choose varsity or pro for your personal use which way would you go?

    • @TheJiuJitsuTherapist
      @TheJiuJitsuTherapist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think one of the best aspects of the Iron Neck and what helps with its effectiveness and safety is the ability to perform the rotational resistance component.
      I think that would be the reason to get the Iron Neck Pro. Otherwise a cheaper neck harness would suffice.

      Let me share my experience with you. I broke my C5-C7 and had a fuse last summer. Always was in the gym but this injury really made me focus on neck strength and rehabbing. I started just the typical hanging off a bed and doing neck lifts facing every single direction. Usually 3 sets each direction for sets of 40-50. Uusally 3-5 seconds slowly lowering my head and back up over 2-3 seconds. What I learned is the neck was really sensitive to hypertrophy and took almost no loading to get a stimulus. Of course, after a few weeks of the muscles adapting to the load, I slowly added weight (5lb plate/10lb plate holding on my head). Progressive overload, slowly and safely. Neck has never felt better. I have just placed an order on this device and am ecstatic for the rotational resistance.

      I’m not a dr not do I have any certifications. I do and practice a lot of my research. It seems to work. General rule I follow is heavy resistance training is good for the body when done properly. When we break things down, they regenerate stronger. Seems to apply pretty much to everything. Not heart tissue. That doesn’t regenerate.

    • @TheJiuJitsuTherapist
      @TheJiuJitsuTherapist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question...and the answer is that it really depends. The unique thing about the Iron Neck is the rotational resistance that you can get which I think is unique and important. Some of the other movements can be replicated with a neck harness, however it depends on your knowledge of neck strengthening and also ease of use. I think the Iron Neck is fairly easy to use, however if you have a solid knowledge of using a neck harness, you could do ok. I have had clients try it out in my clinic and the significant majority of the time end up purchasing a unit because they really liked it.
