  • In India Maoism flourished as a struggle of marginalized groups, such as peasants and several indigenous peoples. While characterized by violent armed struggle and guerrilla warfare akin to other similar movements across the globe, Indian Maoism got its special character by taking the deep-rooted caste-division into account and marry it with the universal class-struggle. Suparna Banerjee, a sociologist based in Germany, explored the Maoist-dominated regions of rural India, documented her experience, and raised legitimate questions regarding the root of several pertinent issues in her new book titled "Maoists and Government Welfare: Excluding Legitimacy or Legitimising Exclusion?", which is an extension of her PhD thesis work done at University of Bonn. In this podcast she discusses this book, and other experiences regarding this.

Thanks for your comments. I agree. What is unique is the fluidity with which Indian ( primarily Hindu) version of the caste system can enter other religions and create this hierarchy.

Agreed. However, this is only a very superficial effort to address what is far more deep rooted and stringent. 😊

Thanks for your comments. Probably there is some miscommunication. However I will still argue that machines are replacing humans and their creativity faster than we can even begin to imagine. Take AI for example. Anyways, appreciate your time and effort to listen and write. 😊

Murder is not an Indian word. Therefore we can conclude no one was ever murdered in India before the British came.
