  • This program, hosted by news bureau manager Bobbi de Cordova Hanks, was a monthly feature produced by the College’s Downtown Campus Production team and aired on Cable Channel 35 in Jacksonville.
This episode from April 1989 opens with a chat with Board Chairman Alton Yates and admissions officer Susan Chappell about Community College Week. Yates starts by describing the mission and value of the College in the community before Chappell expounds on the events planned for the week. The second segment features Sharon Cooper, assistant dean of Consumer and Human Services, and a discussion of the new facilities being created for the Institute of the South, the College’s culinary and hospitality center. In the third segment, city councilman Matt Carlucci describes the upcoming Jacksonville commission on family and marriage, which will examine how city services support the family unit and issue a yearly report card on the state of families locally. Next, the show cuts to the President’s Corner, which gives President Charles Spence and opportunity to address enrollment, cuts to the state budget, the successes of the women’s basketball team, and controversy over the student newspaper. The final segment is an on-location spot on the Kiwanis Regional Science and Engineering Fair at South Campus featuring Karen Sanchez, who discusses what students learn from the fair.
The episode recording includes commercials that presumably ran during the original airing, including ones at 10:37 and 21:37 for the College.
