Vacant Land Stewardship

Vacant lots make up the majority of vacant property inventories across the country and hold immense potential to become community assets. But residents interested in revitalizing vacant land are often burdened by a lack of access, permission, and resources to put ideas into action. Understanding and addressing vacant land as a system can maximize the potential of these often-forgotten spaces. Stewarding vacant lots and transforming them into new, productive uses can improve the social, economic, environmental, and public health of neighborhoods.
This session will cover how city leadership and community organizations can encourage and enable an intentional and comprehensive approach to their vacant lot portfolio.
