- Cowboy Movie: Rage at Dawn - A special agent from Chicago is sent out west to bring in the notorious Reno brothers.
Rage at Dawn (1955)
Director: Tim Whelan
Writers: Horace McCoy (screenplay), Frank Gruber (story)
Stars: Randolph Scott, Forrest Tucker, Mala Powers
Genre: Western, Adventure, Crime, Drama, Action
Country: USA
Language: English
Release Date: 5 February 1952 (USA)
Also Known As: Seven Bad Men
Filming Locations: Honey Run Covered Bridge, Chico, California, USA
Storyline:
Terrorizing 1866 Indiana, the Reno brothers gang uses the town of Seymour as a safe haven, paying off three crooked town officials. Sent in to clean up the gang is Peterson Detective Agency operative James Barlow, who poses as an outlaw to gain the confidence of the officials and the thick-headed brothers. Complicating matters are Barlow's feelings for the Reno sister, Laura, who reluctantly keeps house for the boys out of family loyalty. Events heat up and rage surfaces as Barlow sets up the gang in a dawn train robbery.
Reviews:
"After burning an undercover agent alive, outlaw brothers Forrest Tucker, J. Carroll Naish, and Myron Healey are infiltrated again, this time by former Confederate super-spy Randolph Scott, sent by the Peterson (Pinkerton?) Detective Agency. He ends up falling in love with the brother's pretty, law-abiding sister.
A slight cut above some of Scott's usual 1950's B-westerns (the ones not directed by Budd Boetticher), this has really good production values, entertaining heavies, as well as a script with some great hard-boiled moments and bits of nasty (for the 50's) violence. Also, you can't go wrong with Edger Buchanan as a crooked judge!
Scott gives one of his typically tough, yet upright performances, while Tucker and Naish work well together and almost steal the show as the meanest of the Reno brothers." Written by FightingWesterner on IMDb.com
"This is a well-cast, well-directed, tightly-scripted film (only 87 minutes). The cast is amazing for what had to be a fairly low budget RKO picture from the mid-1950's; Randolph Scott was an established star while Forrest Tucker, J. Carrol Naish, and Denver Pyle were all established, talented Western performers and Edgar Buchanan was one of the best Western character actors of all time. What hurts the movie severely and is its major flaw is the setting. Nothing about one single shot of the film looks anything like Southern Indiana or anywhere else in the Midwest, and exactly like California, where it was actually shot. This lack of authenticity is distracting, in some scenes more than others, but never completely destroys the fine performances. Like some of the others, I would like to know more about the historical Reno Brothers and how closely this film represents their true story; I'm sure that it's somewhat closer than Elvis' ''Love Me Tender'', which is about the same topic and came out the next year." Peaky blinders
Rightly Said.
You could never go wrong with Randolph Scott always fabulous westerns

😅 26:05 😅
I love anything Mr. Scott is in .
Already at the beginniing, all the men were PERFECTLY shaved-not ONE hair on theit faces, pretty normal of the times eh?. At heir cabin the table setting looks pretty fancy and with European style dishes and silverware. One thing I've noticed in Randolph's western roles-he almost ALWAYS wears brand new, tailored clothes especially shirts-no wear or tear, dirt, smudges and brand n ew hats. Other than those things quite authentic-:)
Randolph Scott , a childhood hero of mine.
a time when we had heros and idols. I always ask people who their hero or idol is and they just look back with a blank face. 🙂I couldn't imagine life without them.
Me too, he retired early in his 60's and led a full life.
50 year's ago world was More beautiful then today .
No polution no dert.
My world has always been beautiful, because I have so much to be thankful for. I came of age in the 60s, lost my best friend in Vietnam, yet I am at peace today.
There is less pollution today than 50 years ago. You could see and smell the air then. Pollution from cars, factories etc is much less now. Landscaping is much cleaner now too. Much better.
@@Donizen1 in the USA for sure.
Thank you so much for this brilliant movie. With Randolph Scott in it, it just had to be a true classic western. This is much appreciated.

Don't forget Forest Tucker.
@@thewoodwardreport3632 Sorry, I realise he was in westerns. It is many of these people that were not the main names that were the backbone of westerns.
I always liked Scott movies. I have this and many others.
Great western. Much better than Lonesome Rider. This one actually had some depth and some acting.
this is a golden western treasure one of the greatest ones i ever seen so happy to see it again on here thank you for posting this awesome and great western Randolph Scott is a great actor.
Randolph Scott a under rated Western star 🍺🍻✌️
No, it's just that R.S. comes from a different era of westerns.
Randolph Scott was never underrated
@@texasproud3332 yes. It was a LOL comment. Guy must have only heard of John Wayne.
The best Western actor ever! Rugged with that kind southern drawl..Randy was the man!
@@thewoodwardreport3632 He did but I get Harrison Ford energy from him.
Love this fantastic score by Paul Sawtell, (Polish/American) Composer, whose talent help factor more than 100 musical scores.

The best part of this movie is the first half.
Oh, there’s one of my favorite actors, Denver Pyle. He acts in so many western movies. I loved him when he played in the Andy Griffin show.
And Sgt O' Rourke from F Troop.

As a kid I can remember this movie which I watched at a small town in a small theater. Entry for the matinee was about 35 cents, popcorn 15 cents and a real Coca Cola 20 cents for the jumbo size. Ahhh those were the days. My biggest threat was Friday morning spelling test in the third grade. As kids we rode our bicycles all over and to the movies. Had to be home by dark, or no dinner. Where in hell did this country go wrong? Can Brandon give me that information? I doubt it. He led a very sheltered life. Sorta a mommas boy back then. Afraid of his own shadow I hear.
Scott never made a bad movie.
Classic, for sure.
Que Maravilha!!! Excelente vídeo
WOW !! !!!!
Surely maybe old western Movies may be Great.
Nice Movie ❤❤❤
Fantastic movie.

"Let's go some place where they don't know anything about the Reno brothers".

Didn't expect to see a Western that takes place in southeastern Indiana. Didn't expect to see the California state flag flying there, either.
I didn't see that but I will look for it next time I watch it. I'm a classic movie critic.
Great movie.
@@thewoodwardreport3632 I hadn't noticed it either until I read about it in Wikipedia. It shows up pretty early in the movie and briefly as well.
Right , I was trying to figure out just where it was filmed , and I guess it was up in the Sierra foothills . They have an old rail line there in Jamestown with the old time steam engines . Maybe
near Columbia , a preserved western town . I have never been to southern Indiana , but for some reason I don't think it was filmed there .
Great actor Ran scott🎥🎥🎥🎥💎💎💎❤️📽
Very nice movie
Many disputes in the Old West were settled with the clearing of leather, and the drop of a hammer with 40 grains of black powder. 😒 Human nature hasn't changed in the last 160+ years other than the firearm of choice. 😢
Here in 1866, we have Winchester 92's and Colt single action revolvers Model 1873's . All of the holsters use buscaderos, first made in the 1890's plus Stetson hats from the late 1870's.
Did you notice the state flag of California in the opening scene? How about the power lines in the same scene? Later when they crossed the river into an adjoining state they were in Missouri, which is on the other side of Illinois from Indiana. Or maybe the butte in the background (there are none like that in Indiana). That area of Indiana is flat lands.
I always love a happy ending...
Amazing!

A good one !
"I'm pinned down behind this dead tree. I think I'll stand up and run towards the guys that are shooting at me."
BANG!
"Bad idea."
How strange. This all happened within just a very few short miles from where I was born and raised and I never heard anything about it.
Like the movie.1866 might of had telegraph wire but not wires like the ones you see when they road in to town. Not from lndiana but that does not look like Indiana to me
I ve been to lndiana
That ain t it

Uhh... okay
This was shot in the Calf. Historical town of Columbia, a gold mining town that was kept as original , basically, still there as was. North of Lake Tahoe.
I only knew Forrest Tucker from the TV show F-Troop. I never new he had a major career as a western movie star team with Randolph Scott.
10/10
Buenos días porque youtube esta subiendo las películas en ingles y yo las e.visto en español latino desde cali Colombia gracias por su atención bendiciones ❤
The hero rides off into the sunrise with the woman who just tried to kill him.
Great movie. Only thing is they do not know how to take cover and they got shot and dead...I think when you take cover during those years you are a coward.
It is a movie.
What ever happened to RANDOLPH SCOTT riding the trails alone? What ever happened to RANDOLPH SCOTT has happened to the industry!
Im from Seymour, and that is definitely not Seymour LOL.... This isn't a Western, it's a "Midwestern"
Wouldn’t you say that it is probably Hollywood ?
Common law is without fear
I was named after him. Randolph
Is your middle name Scott?
Sim plays the role of Chief Sitting Bull 👍
RANdolf scOTT!
Denver Pyle in a very short clip (at 11:30) that is on my top five list of performances by a supporting actor.
And also I like a descriptions of a Place. Given a sub Title of a Name.
EDGAR BUCHANAN, DENVER PYLE AND RAY TEAL. THREE GOOD CHARACTER ACTORS. REMEMBER RAY TEAL FROM THE BONANZA SERIES.
For one to rise another must fall
Uncle Jesse once a crook 😮😂en Bonanza’s Sheriff also present here
I can't see or hear Randolph Scotts name without thinking of "Blazing saddles"
Make sense to hold your tongue you can't have them all
Western
Southern Indiana isnt a mountain region 😂
I can remember my Grandfather “ saucer and blowing “ it when I was a child . But, I have NEVER seen anyone stab a piece of food to put into his mouth. Uncouth.

You have not yet met me Luci, haha. 😉
I don't have a problem
does anyone else here talking in the sound track for the train at 1:06:30 mark
Entertainment 😂
Nice California flag on the flag pole as they rode into that Indiana town😂
I see electric overhead cables and phones lines in the beginning in town. Esh these are modern cowboys
Also concrete stairs and other concrete buildings. Typical old west I guess.
I see the blooper where they have the American flag and California flag flying above house. The film must have been filmed in Santa Barbara maybe.
I'm just curious, is THE PRICE OF DEATH next on your english upload schedule? It recently appeared on the Italian channel, that's why I'm asking. Just curious, is all.
Explain the curiosities if you asked it
"It's 11 o'clock now. We'll be there by 3,while it's still dark."
Ummm, why is the sun shining?
They were late!
There is a minor problem at the 5 minute mark. There are all these electrical wires on poles. Oops!
The wires are there for the plot. Latter the bad guys talk about that they cannot out run the Telegraph system.
Porque não dublado em português para os brasileiros???
I think at some point I change my statuses
Hear is that
👍👍👍
Fifty minutes in, I deside I dont like the way Scott is being pushed around. Scott is holdiing the superior hand with the train robberies so he is the one that should be giving the orders. You Think ? OK, after watching tell the end, I too liked this movie, a bunch.
LOL. You act like this is real life. 😵💫
