Daria van den Bercken heeft een missie; ze wil iedereen de schoonheid van Händels suites voor klavier laten horen. En in bredere zin wil ze eigenlijk iedereen zonder vooroordeel naar muziek laten luisteren.
De pianiste betoogt dat kleine kinderen vaak heel onbevangen luisteren naar muziek en nog makkelijk in een staat van verwondering zijn te brengen. Dit wordt steeds lastiger naarmate mensen ouder worden. Toch raakte zij in dezelfde staat toen zij een jaar of drie terug voor het eerst de klaviersuites van Händel hoorde.
De werken zijn relatief onbekend. Op 13 juni 2013 liet ze in de Graanbeurszaal in de Beurs van Berlage horen dat dat geheel onterecht is en vertelde ze over haar bijzondere missie.
This Suite is masterful, one of the highest in baroque music. Handel's keyboard music is unknown, but it is extremely virtuous and diverse..suites, arias, variations, toccatas, fugues, preludes
Händel's keyboard music is only "unknown" to people who don't know much about baroque music. The Suites have been recorded by a large number of top-rate keyboardists, whether on harpsichord or piano.

Unfortunately he seems to be overshadowed by Bach. Bach certainly deserves his time in the spotlight, but Handel deserves some time as well.

Beethoven considered Haendel as the greatest composer. I can understand why! I consider Beethoven as the greatest composer. But this is beautiful music by an excelent performer!

I so like that she uses rubato and dynamic variation in answering phrases, and so shows her appreciation and feeling for what Handel (I suppose) felt when he composed the music. Unlike Glen Gould's machine-like delivery of Bach (am I wrong here? That's how I remember his playing).
I agree. Her playing allows me to appreciate baroque music
Gould often took faster paces (than was accepted at the time), but I wouldn’t say his game was mechanized at all! I listened and listened a lot. There is a lot of emotion in that.

Das Prelude ist sehr willkürlich und individuell, fast romantisch gestaltet. Die übrigen Sätze im staccato und piano. Ein himmelweiter Unterschied zu Richter. Fast ein wenig zu zart.
