If you convince someone that their existence is meaningless, you can cause them to have a crisis. Telling someone you hate them only works if they care about you. This is on another level. I love it so much because of that. It's the perfect insult.

I've came back to this song yesterday, which marks the 18th birthday of a toxic friend I ceased contact with.
For years I was in a group that would hurt me both mentally and physically, but that I still hung out with and considered friends. The only moments I tried to break contact, I was feeling way too guilty. So I never did.

Well, it still works. If someone considers your life irrelevant, then there's no point in them trying to find something that implies you might want them back, or, in other words, no point looking for significance.
The singer, being the one suggesting it, should be the one to tell off the other person though, so it would make more sense to be "To you, my life should be irrevelant" but that, of course, would be crazily off tune and mess with the context of the song, as the singer is mainly talking about how much they no longer care for the other person. If the other person were to stop caring for the singer, then the roles would be switched, and the song would have no perpose. The singer's goal in talking smack to the other would have already been achieved.

I get the weirdest sense of nostalgia from your music. Like these are songs that in an earlier stage of life would've resonated with me so deeply, but now they just serve to remind me of past trauma and yet? It doesn't seem to hurt. Almost like hearing a song about trauma I've already overcome is somehow darkly therapeutic.
This song in particular reminds me of someone who jerked me around emotionally then dropped off the face of the earth for a few years. I'd never willing go back to that, but this song makes me feel ok with that experience.
