      I remember loving your reaction - I'm musically clueless, so it was fantastic hearing so much breakdown about things I didn't know existed that were right in front of me. I just listen to music. But the topping on the cake when when you went back and reacted to your reaction. I felt bad for you because you were pretty hard on yourself. No need to be! Just be yourself - that's awesome enough. (Oh, your tie-ups w/ Julia are great, too!)

      While Chase and Elizabeth (both appearing on this video) are personal favorites, I can't pick a best reactor, but allow me to say this; a Chase Carneson and either Julia Nilon or Elizabeth Zharoff collaboration (or what the hell a threesome) wherein Chase analyzes the musicanship, arrangement, etc. and the ladies analyze Floor's vocals . That reaction may well break the internet.

  • @littleraven28

    Congrats to Chase Carneson, I agree that he gave the best reaction. He reacted to the whole band and the structure of the music, while others focused more on the singing.
    And of course a shout out to Gabriel, who took over the General's rank after the unforgettable Ann Waychoff.
    Last but definitely not least the biggest thanks to Tuomas for writing this epic piece of music and the band for performing this flawless. ❤🤘🏽

    My audiophile husband and I have been in the habit for many years of checking out expensive sound systems that we may never be able to afford. After the GLS Wacken 2013 recording became available, we made sure to bring the CD along on our test runs. The most expensive sound system we were given the privilege of enjoying for a few minutes was around $40,000. So you might say that we were live reactors to this epic song years before it became the headliner for TH-cam reactions. I wonder how many audio store techs remember that goofy couple who would come barging into their shiny showrooms to insist they hear this extraordinary music. This was before youtube reactions to GLS was a thing, so not one of them had ever heard it before. We're not at all surprised this performance became so widely popular. For all the reasons in this video, we couldn't help but share our obsession with it to anyone we could get to listen to it.

    Been a Nightwish fan for 17 years. Always had "obscure" musical tastes that a lot of people didn't "get". But I never stopped sharing their music with people. I think the reaction movement has gotten people to be more open minded to music that they would never otherwise give a chance. It makes me happy to see Nightwish appreciated on a bigger level.

      "This video makes me feel so much pride of being part of such an amazing army"
      You had me there.
      "so proud of all the success the band has reached from the moment Floor stepped in as their lead female singer"
      But you lost me there. Sorry, but that's very disrespectful to Tarja, the original vocalist who helped make Nightwish what it is and Anette, her replacement. You may not have meant disrespect, but for those of us who've been around since the beginning, it's definitely a slight as they were successful before Floor came on board.
      Please don't read that as I'm yelling. I'm not. Just trying to be instructive. We're all part of the army! 💛

    • @mykindamakeup
      @mykindamakeup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelm.1947 I disagree, I've been there from the very, very beginning and I actually agree with that quote. I don't think it means disrespect to the past. Without Tarja and Anette they couldn't be where they are today, sure, but that also includes the massive soar this song has taken since Floor so magically gave it her own spin. Nightwish is bigger than ever, WITH or maybe because of Floor.
      I don't mean to be harsh to you either of course, I'm just discussing opinions. I was just thinking that I loved GLS when it first came out but it always felt "unfinished" to me in Tarja version. In a lot of ways Floor was that perfect piece to the puzzle.

    • @Crysticia
      @Crysticia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Lisanne Interesting how everyones opinion is different. =)
      I do agree with Michael M. and less with you. But that´s totally fine. I needed a long time to find my opinion on how and who Nightwish is today and how I feel about it.
      Already as Imaginarium came out Nightwish was bigger than with Tarja before and with Floor it grows even bigger, but that was for sure just a process over time.
      Tarja was the singer(position), who made Nightwish big, famous and a well known name, it was understandable to take Anette, as a singer with a completly different style after that, cause the footsteps that the successor would step into were just too big. And cause of a pop voice appeals to a wider audience than pure opera singing Nightwish got a way bigger fanbase after that. Then Floor came. And one big difference on this Era-change was, that Floor was already known worldwide. So the grown bigger Nightwish now merged with an almost equal famous singer + she could sing the old songs in a 'more old way' again, wich let come back the one or other fan Nightwish lost while Anette's Era.
      I think if the situation with Tarja and Floor would have been the other way around, we would have the same conversations today.
      That are just my thought about the development of Nightwish. Now my opinion about the singers.
      I totally adore Nightwish with Tarja, even it was the beginning and not fully matured. For me it´s the perfect combination of music and voice, a perfect soul. As Anette came I hated her, but I was 16 and hadn´t the farsightedness why she was good for NW. As Floor came I understood it. Now there was someone, who sings opera-like again the old songs and even if Floor is a great singer, no question, I don´t like her way of singing(no matter if old or new songs). I found out for myself, that when Anette sang the old songs she made it to something so different that it was good again. And even if I really don´t like the arguments 'compare Tarja and Floor in this song x', cause always they take a version from Tarja from f.e. 2001, where she didn´t even had a completed vocal training 'against' a full grown Floor from 2015, I found out for myself that I still find the original versions the best.
      And I think if we all just love our own version and respect each others opinion, we´re such a big and great army of NW-Fans bound by the one thing we love, the music of Nightwsh.

      If anything, he is very respectful of Ann's legacy and wants to keep that legacy alive.

      It's almost as if you feel insulted on how Gabriel was given that title after he took up the mantle on honor of Ann.

    It is Floor's autograph to climax the finals of a song with full volume, mouth wide open. She already did so before Nightwish, and the ending of Ghost Love Score as it was did not suffice for her, with the instruments finishing it.. So she asked the boys to let her 'freewheel a bit' on the ending. It was only months after she joined them. "Cool," the boys said. And so it became her ending of the song, and the fans almost can not wait for that thrill. Floor is a marvellous vocalist, and many of the harmonies with Marko show her skills. check out Floor Jansen with Revamp or with Ayreon to hear what she has been doing. Ghost Love Score is a fine proof of mastery for Floor.

    Great video about this amazing song!!

  • @randalljones4370
    @randalljones4370 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Why?
    - Because the Arrangement is multi-faceted, with small, repeating elements entering, teasing, then departing only to return again.
    It becomes a familiar rhythm, lapping at the shore.
    - The Listener can hear what they wish : metal's thunder and crash, a symphony, an opera or classical fare. If it's not your cup of tea, wait a minute... its like the weather in Oregon... things will change.
    - Because it is technically, "that good". Each instrument and orchestrated grouping is performed immaculately, without rush or drag, with incredible white-space left in the spectra for vocals.... the reason they 'dominate' is because there is ample room there to fill.
    This song can be whatever the listener wants it to be.
    It is "easy to listen to", so the mind has ample cpu cycles left to spend constructing the emotional content, following the story, and body-surf the key changes and rhythmic design.
    It is a perfect example of Why we should strive to Keep good things.
    Yes, we Can have good things.

I've never seen a better breakdown about this masterpiece of knowledge that was composed by Tuomas. Some of these reactors do a phenomenal job of educating while they react, and others just watch, say "I like it" and sign off. Rewarding those who really put in the work, who add value to the time we dedicate to watching something we love so much, is only fair. Here’s my reaction story, Trigger warning for death. In 2017 my mom suddenly passed away in her sleep. My dad and I grieved together by sharing music. He and I have always had the same taste. I mean at 6 years old I went to ozzfest how cool is that? Fast forward to mid 2017, dad calls me and tells me there’s this new band he found on “the TH-cam” he said they’re called nightwish. And that’s what started it. Let’s fast forward to December, my dads mom passed away suddenly, same house as my mom. That night dad introduced me to Poet and the Pendulum. And then for the past few years every week I’d get calls about songs he’d seen in reactions that he thought I’d like, every single song by Nightwish and Sabaton! Come April 24, my dad suddenly passes. May 8th was the night we were supposed to see Nightwish together. I buried him with his ticket, he was there in spirit. I also buried him with a sketch of a tree I drew with the lyrics of “Our Decades in the Sun”. This band has helped me through my darkest times. My dad is rocking wherever his celestial life brought him. Thank you Nightwish and the Nightwish army ❤️

    For me GLS reactions phenomena is especially interesting partly because in my opinion GLS is not the easiest Nw song to enjoy and understand from the 1st listening. As it was mentioned in this video, the music is very complex. Seems like for those who have not listened to Nw (or symphonic metal in general?) before this song is also kinda... unpredictable. I remember listening to Endless Forms and Human Nature albums for the first time, and even if I'm familiar with Holopainen's music for years I never could predict where the melody will go, when it will make you stop and scream internally 😂

    Okay... Neat glimpse of "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013 reactors... Just few of them though.
    The amount of views gathered by reactors comes to this particular video from the "average" music consumers after all. Then steps in the technical break downs from different directions done by reactors which definitely helps 'ordinary' music listener to dig deeper on this version of the song --> Nightwish live performances.

    If the numbers at the beginning are true, people saw more Ghost Love Score reaction videos, than the actual song... which is kinda disturbing, or maybe it's showing that, people rather like to listen to music with someone and reaction videos give that kind of sense, that you are not listening alone, sharing the experience.

    I can't pick a best reactor, but allow me to say this; a Chase Carneson and either Julia Nilon or Elizabeth Zharoff collaboration (or what the hell a threesome) wherein Chase analyzes the musicanship, arrangement, etc. and the ladies analyze Floor's vocals may well break the internet.

    I know Nightwish since a long time ago but with Tarja never feelt that click. She's a great singer but in my opinion very "academic" so some of the emotions and dinamism in the songs get lost. When I hear that Floor join the band immediately seen this legendary concert of Wacken and it just made me lost my head. Known her since After Forever, she's all terrain! That time this song made me cry and still, goosebumps are there always.
    Epic.

    • @danilolapierre5610
      @danilolapierre5610 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here. I've known Nightwish since 2003 but they didn't immediately click with me like Within Temptation or Theatre of Tragedy. Tarja's operatic style was a big reason, and it got worse with Anette Olzon who was servicable at best even though Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are fantastically composed albums. Floor Jansen gave Nightwish a complete new vocal spectrum, coupled with her amazing stage presence. I'm hooked ever since watching Wacken 2013 for the first time. Tarja is a great singer in her own, and I can appreciate an album like Angels Fall First by now. Also, there are songs like Nemo, Ever Dream, and The Kinslayer that work better for me with Tarja. But Floor is so magnetic on stage, her precision is impressive, her range is breath-taking, and she can sing anything from operatic via folk and raw metal to heart-warming songs like How's The Heart and her cover-version of Lady Gaga's Shallow. If I have one complaint, then the lack of a Rest Calm version with Floor Jansen as female voice.

    There is a mistake in this compilation!!! During part 4 about the song complexity and compostion you took of all the reactors you could have chosen a reactor who made a HUGE mistake. He assumed mistakenly that Tuomas had composed the song all the way to end includinbg the last few notes (the Floorgasm). He talks about how brilliant composing it is to work to THAT ending. The truth could not be further away!!!!!!!! The ending last three notes were not composed by Tuomas but by Floor. It is Floor Jansen who invented and added the ending for the song while freestyling during rehearsals. Before Floor joined NW and changed this song the ending of the song was not even remotely as impressive. By the time in this song Floor is singing those legendary final notes, Tarja would have literally already left the stage as the song would have been finished already for her!!!!

    Nightwish is Tuomas and Tuomas is Nightwish. As for the rest, each lead singer has had her own strengths and weaknesses. And Marco was more important than any of them.

    Sadly you left out the original singer. The only reason Floor's version is so popular is because reactors want the subscribers and if they dare react to Tarja's version they get told it is the "wrong version". I like Floor's version but I LOVE Tarja's.

    • @jokuku3669
      @jokuku3669 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      That is not true. Ghost Love Score at Wacken is usually the introduction to Nightwish, so how would the reactors know beforehand if any people are even going to watch that video or will they gain any subscribers by reacting to this specific version of GLS? Well, why people recommend to react to Ghost Love Score at Wacken and not for example End of and Era version? Because it's simply the most epic and impressive version of that song, so isn't it understandable that people want to give as good impression of Nightwish as possible.
      You have every right to love Tarja's version, but you can't change the fact that probably most of the NW fans prefer Floor's version.

    • @bridgetmccracken1381
      @bridgetmccracken1381 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jokuku3669 you stated opinion not fact. I have seen time and time again the comment from "the army" that Tarja's version is the wrong one. I also know that "The army" flood's reactors channels with the Wacken version request. Reactors that are trying to grow their channels will do what gets them subs and as soon as "the army" see a Floor video, they sub, but as soon as the reactor gets into either Tarja or Anette, they either lose subs or get hurtful comments.
      As for your comment about "Most NW fans" preferring Floor's version, I think that is your assumption. I can only speak for myself and those that I personally know and I prefer to listen to Tarja era songs sung by Tarja.

    • @flowq3874
      @flowq3874 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel you - and I am a Floor fan. I almost freak out when some criticizes Floor's voice in any way... and when I see a new NW reaction, and someone actually reacts to a Tarja song, I feel disappoinment. To imagine that you might feel that almost every time is horrible. Plus parts of the Floor fanbase can sometimes be a little...overprotective. It is not meant to hurt Tarja fans - though it does.
      But I also think that " The only reason Floor's version is so popular is because reactors want the subscribers " is a bold statement. It is surely ONE reason, I will give you that. And I agree with the other half of your statement: " if they dare react to Tarja's version they get told it is the "wrong version ". That is true. And itmust suck big-time.
