    Ordered a new DS3 DSport Plus in Belle Ile Blue with a white roof today with the THP 155 engine. Cannot wait for delivery. Test drove the 120 DSport and was deeply impressed with the premium feel and superb ride for a sporty hatch. Quality of the interior was much better than the nasty plasticky Mini Cooper I sat in a few weeks ago at a local car supermarket. Vicki is amazing presenter and love her review of this wonderful, charismatic French hatch!

    Well I've lived with one in Oz for 12 mths now and done a couple of lengthy 800km trips, as well as using it for a town car and the odd indulgent fang along tortuous, hilly back roads that are a short drive from my home. In the wet, it's hard to imagine anything can beat it, though I'm sure many cars can. As Chris Harris said (driving the R version) "It just deals with stuff". I agree with everything she says, except I find the gearchange quite solid and precise, with a nice ker-klunk when you slide it home in any gear. I haven't driven a mini, so I can't compare, but the steering is very accurate with lots of feel, and you can get nice neutral drifts in the dry and the wet that feel completely safe and stable without the ESP spoiling the fun. It returned 7l/100k in the first 10,000k or 40 mpg, yet it will pull in top gear from 2000 revs no problem, and good acceleration in 2nd and 3rd when you want it, revving to 6000 with ease.

      Fair review from an owner,, I'm like 50/50 would like a smaller car, that looks cool, goes quick enough, and economical,, just I'm brainwashed that French cars are in reliable and my bro inlaws Peugeot doesn't really help me change that mind set, with its un-reliability.

      Mark C
      Hi Mark, I owned a 206 GTi before this car, for 14 years, doing 250,000 km. Mechanically, I had no problem with the car at all, and never did any work on the engine, but the computer gave me enormous problems that frustrated me, especially in Australia's hot weather (40C is not unusual in summer). But I bought one of the first to arrive in the country and I think that was a mistake, because it had 'teething' issues, putting it kindly, most of which were sorted under warranty. I bought the Citroen when the model was already 3 years old with a few cosmetic changes - specifically the tail lights and a larger sat-nav screen. I've just come back from a round trip of 2000km, which I do every year and the car performed brilliantly, now with 20,000km on the clock, and it returned 6.3l/100k for the duration. I've driven a DS4 SP and I didn't like it all, I have to say. It felt like a marketing exercise, whereas the DS3 SP feels like a real sports car. It recently won a motoring award in Oz for best value compact car under AU$50,000.

    Owning one for 2 years now, small quality issues as expected, buy good car in general. I heard complains about the gears being too long, but it really helps with fuel economy, and the 240Nm compensate for that as well.

    idr where i got 6.3 but i googled it and its definitely 6.6s 0-100km/h. and while this is a fairly fast time, (much faster than 7.3s) the forte of the Type R- and what the marque is best known for- is handling, not necessarily acceleration. the DS3 has neither of these. £19K for the citroen seems ridiculous compared to the £18775 for a type-R civic. the DS3 is gaudy, unsporty, expensive, and honestly, indicative of metrosexuality.

    In fact adaptive headlight system was created by Citroen but in 1967 to be more accurate. It was created for the DS "Phase 2", the one with 4 lights behind a glass (except in the US where it was forbidden, and then sold with double lights without glass). The 1955 DS with single round lights didn't have it.

    @DoctorBJ 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    im sorry but if you think the DS3 could trump the Type-R in any area of performance, you just don't know your cars. 150hp is for commuters and minicars. the tuned 200whp K20 and perfected handling of the Type-R would stomp the pathetic DS3. and if you really think any 200-250hp euro could beat a even the 260hp Pontiac Solstice GXP (faster than the boxter).... we have nothing more to discuss

  • @DoctorBJ
    @DoctorBJ 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    and keeping in mind that i am a performance-oriented consumer, 150bhp is hardly adequate for anyone looking for a decent drive. and the fact that it is "a totally unique 3-door body" (which i mention as styling additions to the C3 it is based on, not minor tweaks) does not mean it looks good. unless of course you like the 4x4 ride height, gaudy LEDs, random chrome accents, a face only a mother could love, and a half-painted B-pillar.

    well i live in the US and a mid-engine V6 seems pretty appealing to me (and i dont mind about poor practicality because i value performance over comfort).
    and if you want to get technical, im referring to BMW Motorsport GmbH, which is a legal subsidary of BMW. and there are no real sports cars sold under the M-Sport trim line, so its not something id know about.
    idk what you mean by SPORT i never said it wasnt the top model i was just referring to the car in question..

    Anyone else still hate the modern mini cooper? I wish it had just died in 2000, now it's badge is still being violated by the monstrosities it's been nailed to these last 12 years. The worst part is, it's popular, so no one cares what I think. Saddening however is that those who are genuine enthusiasts of the modern mini are a small minority of it's market, so it's design is tailored to the majority of it's customer base, people who don't even know it's German. This is sad because for those who are more forgiving of the mini's latest shenanigans and still like it, are being distanced from it by it's ever changing design as it chases the wider customer base, so it is being relentlessly furthered from its earliest ancestors. I miss the old mini.

    @Rayportugal DUDE GIVE IT A BREAK TOP GEAR IS BETTER THAN FIFTH GEAR. YES IT IS A FACT! o and good job with the insults makes u look so mature. why do u want boring descriptions of a car u probably wont ever consider 1. buying 2.driving andhardly see on the road.
    Top Gear is 1.much more entertaining. 2.tells u all the features that u NEED to kno. 3.give fair and sometimes realistic challenges/tests.
    their information on the car is as good as a catalouge and a boring car magazine.

  • @CartmanUK26
    @CartmanUK26 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DRFTmonkeh and that would make you the fool, the Clio V6 is by no means a good car, and it is a pig to live with everyday, and there is an M Sport trim level like there is an S line trim level on Audi's, styling additions only. The SPORT has no extra styling additions that aren't available on the DS3, it is just the top of the range model, everything is availavle as an option on the lower trims.
    150Bhp is perfectly adequate for a car at this level. I have seen the DS3, it is excellent.

  • @CartmanUK26
    @CartmanUK26 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Performance oriented means something very different in the US and the UK and europe as a whole, in a car this size 150bhp is more than enough! And as I said, they are not styling additions, it is for all intents and purposes a different car! It does NOT have 4x4 ride height, the LED's are classy and modern not gaudy, the chrome is both attractive and a common industry feature. The face is the freshest on the market currently and the B pillar is not half painted it ends where the paint does!

And if you are such a petrol head that you ONLY like real sports cars this review really isn't for you! And for it's market 150bhp is impressive!!

  • @GruszkuEntertainment

    @odin52 I think you can't afford it and drive a car that is oldest than your children!

  • @DoctorBJ
    @DoctorBJ 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    M Sport isnt just a trim level, its a division of BMW catering specifically to performance. the DS3 rallye would be a better car. but the DS3 "sport" they review in this video seems like a complete waste of money with its weak power, pointless styling additions that differ it from the C3, and desecration of the original car it pays homage to.
    if i had to buy a french car i'd prefer the RWD Renault Clio V6 tho which prob costs less used

    These are the main colors for cars in Europe, especially in France: silver, black, and white. It's a bit sad, but it's so.
    My actual Volvo S60 is also silver metallic, so is also my peugeot 306. My former Audi A4 was black metallic pearleffect, and I had a white Peugeot 205, a light green metallic Peugeot 205, and blue lagoon metallic Opel Corsa.

    @Rayportugal actually, I beg to differ; Top Gear is very informative WHILE being supremely entertaining. However, it takes a little of attention to extract all the useful information about cars amidst the explosions and destruction of caravans. If you want a real example, watch Top gear's review of the ford fiesta... having said that, Fifth Gear is good too, though it cannot compete with Top Gear, imho.

    @alwaysblank: driving on the highway on long trips (more realistic than driving on a test track), my 2.2L gets slightly better gas mileage than the 1.6L DS3

    again, i know very little about the clio aside from its potential performance. and the fact that im a "petrol head" doesn't change the fact that this car is overrated by anyone's reasonable standard. also.. the Ford Focus RS makes 300whp (remarkably controllable through its innovative LSD)-- more impressive, although a bit more pricey and well worth it.

    ..........Este auto tiene mucha influencia del clasico mini ingles, se nota un intento francés por hacer un diseño con lineas mas llamativas y atractivas...pero al final del día no supera la elegancia de un clásico auto ingles.....
