I dont buy it. In the literal lore of the show Hell has been defenceless until recent. An uprising was being threatened but Hell had no weapons to actually threaten heaven or its people. Angels are immune to everything save their own angelic armaments. She didnt order defense, she condoned and promoted butchery. She believes she is right and apathetic, or worse melicious, towards anyone not in her tribe
You can tell she cares, she's not evil. She calls Adam out on his fucked up manipulation and she worries for Emilys safety. She's not a villain, she's an enabler, overlooking great wrongs for a "greater good"
From what i gathered, adam was the one who suggested the yearly extermination and she said it was to stop the uprising. I believe she was worried about heaven and the other beings under her care and took the extermination because she didn't know any better. I have this weird theory that Sera never went down to hell just know something was a miss and sent adam to investigate. Seeing hell becoming better adam felt angry and suggested the extermination as revenge against his former wife

To be fair, Sera sounds like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. When something as big as hell is uprising, there really is no other choice. She probably thought nobody in hell would be interested in or if it was even possible for redemption. She really didn't have much of a choice.
I think the original reason was because each eye could see different things and across different points in Time, knowing a lot about what is happening and what will happen is also considered terrifying as it means you can't hide yourself or your intentions.
I feel like sera is not intentionally evil. Sure she is letting the exterminations happen. But unlike Adam, sera is allowing it out of protection for the souls in heaven
Considering Roo (Root of Evil) is possibly the reason why evil existed in the first place, I think the exterminations were done to prevent Roo from gaining a large enough army to overthrow Heaven if she returns.

Yknow I thought from the trailer it was like she was secretly sadistic archangel, but in context of the show it feels more like she means well but is in denial that there's blood on her hands for allowing it and hiding the extermination from heaven.
I wholeheartedly believe she's a kind and loving being, but she's horribly afraid of change because she fears it will send everything she has built crumbling down. Sera has the potential to be a great character with depth, im really hoping they dont waste that potential

Sera should be ASHAMED of herself. Heaven should NOT be feared, yes they were afraid of hell, but they also came what hell is afraid of, it's ok to be scared but it's NOT ok to be what someone else is scared of. Hell has souls to protect as well.

I just realized an idea for a dark and gritty fanfic that I won't write involving a human soul who's a devoted christian, whom upon seeing this heaven (its messed up standards, Adam being a douche despite him being an angel, etc), felt betrayed by God, essentially going through something akin to grief and in a fit of rage and insanity goes on a killing spree to destroy Heaven (think of it as like Postal 1/Redux with a bit of Undertale Genocide and the second half of Spec Ops: The Line). The story could be narrated like the "war journals" from Postal 1/Redux where he believes he's doing something good, with his insanity only becoming more prevalent in his narration as the story goes on (to the point of even enjoying the carnage while still calling it "justice" and overall being more brutal). By the end, he would go to the last place in Heaven where God is hiding and he expects some huge confrontation with him but instead of meeting him directly he's put through a series of nightmarish visions of all the horrible things he's done which causes him to break down, heavily implying to be from God himself (kind of inspired by the ending of Postal Redux and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come from A Christmas Carol but leaning more heavily on the horror side).
Sera's problem is somewhere along the way she strayed from the path of Righteousness and has become SELF-righteous without even knowing. Now so caught up in her own self righteousness and being called on it, she's blinded herself. She is set in HER beliefs and her convictions
I really hope they don’t make her into a villain. I don’t like the fact that she said yes to the exterminations, but look at her face when Emily is defying heaven. That’s not a look of anger or disgust it’s one of concern and worry she doesn’t want anything bad to be fall her. I hope by seeing Pentious in heaven she changes her mind on a lot of her view points.

I even gave them the backstory of the conflict and a few other thoughts about the series. Her full name is Seraphiel(Sera for short) and she is Lucifer's sister and FIRST wife. And he is Like Zeus, he aspired to another, specifically to Lilith, or his thirst for power and superiority, plans to take their Father place, and the rebellion he organized and the Fall of the first Men affected their future common destinies. He became known as Devil and (alongside Satan) founder and (with all his others Fallen comrades) ruler of the Hell, whereas Sera took his place as the mightiest Seraphim in Heaven, and had a daughter, Emily, Charlie's half-sister, and now she fears that she will become just like her father. In general, the plot here is like about a mother who raised her daughter alone, while her husband left her. And then Lucifer and others revealed that she has a daughter with him. And in general, yes, the image of Lucifer is made too positive, I would like him to really be like Zeus or Sun Wukong. That is, he seems to have done a lot of terrible and negative things, well, it's really better if Viv showed him as an already fallen Proud Angel, disappointed in everything, disappointed in life, in demons, in angels, in humans, but who at the same time tries to save face in front of his restless daughter and domineering newfound wife, while having not the best relationship with them, because of all his pride, he is not particularly eager to do anything and do business, but now Lilith may have power that she didn't have when she was with Adam, but she still doesn't like Luci's attitude towards her. He prefers to spend time in fun, feasting and spending time communicating with his daughter, whom he seems to love, but when he finds out about her idea, he tries to zealously dissuade her and even cruelly interfere with her, like Triton from The Little Mermaid, and even the scene of rage would be similar, but at the same time he has redemptive qualities that make him a hero, and rescuing Emily, his second daughter, from some threat or disaster, and mending relationships with Sera, Charlie, Lilith and God, and to put an end to the strife between Hell and Heaven altogether by making peace for the better, is one of those.
Technically they wouldnt do this if they also have an angel army waiting for Lucifer uprising considering Micheal is the leader and the one would kill Lucifer. Unless this show doesnt introduce Micheal. But it would be cool to see a battle of Micheal and Lucifer

I don't think she even knows just how BRUTAL the Extermination gets. If she had Camila's damage report from the "Scrambled Eggs" episode, she'd do a double take before telling Adam to tone down on the violence and to resume the usual yearly visits rather than proceed to the shorter timestamp of the six-month mark.

I’m not sure but I get the feeling that there is more going on that we the audience are not being told. I feel as as though Sera wanted to explain more but didn’t have the chance. Either that or there is an unknown plot device that is forcing Sera to be quiet. The writing for the show has been brilliant and I highly doubt the writers just “accidentally” forgot to answer such a major plot hole.
She said there was no proof and she waited who knows how many centuries for that to happen... Ser Pentious was the first one and that doesn't means Sera was wrong.
If Adam was the first soul in heaven then what happened to Abel? You know, his son who died at young age from the hands of his brother Cain? He was the first man to die. Was he evil and send to hell? Or did heaven and hell not exist by that time yet and were simply the results of Cain's action?

I don’t know if I’m crazy for thinking this, but it’s interesting that not even the angels knows how a soul can reach heaven. It gives the idea that only God itself knows how his creation (reality) works, while everyone else try to understand it.
I know right?, that decision is one that people hate, but people hate Vivziepop and they are going to hate her no matter what she does. I love this detail considering that we have no way of knowing how a soul gets to heaven.
Sera is in the right here, and I will ALWAYS stand by this. No one in hell is a good person: Angel was mob boss, Alastor was a serial killer, Valentino was a rapist, Rosie was a cannibal, and the list goes on. Given the chance, if Hell grew too strong then they would GLADLY storm down Heaven's gates and gleefully massacre everyone inside. What was Sera supposed to do? Go down there and try to "politely" talk the sinners out of violence? Lucifer did nothing because he knew everyone down in Hell deserved to be exterminated for all the horrible things they did while they were alive. "Charlie! Our people are AWFUL!" - Lucifer.
Charlies point is SOME may have made mistakes but some do deserve second chances. Alastor for example 100% belongs down there. Now sir pentious didn't and that's why he is where he is now

And it's when he made the ultimate sacrifice that he proofed he was worthy and redemption

I can’t tell you how relieved I was that Viv didn’t go with “all angels are evil” route. Just like in Hell, there are those that are despicable (Adam), those who are pure good (Emily), and those in a gray area (Sera). It makes the plot and characters much more complex, and prevents the series from looking like just an edgy middle finger to religious people.
I am FASCINATED by Sera's character. Always love me a good morally gray character. REALLY wanna see more of her, and find out what her deal is in Season 2. She's undeniably a massive coward, but I do wonder just how much legitimacy there is to her fears of Hell's uprising, if there really is an argument to exterminations being necessary (Though I kinda suspect Adam has his own agenda on suggesting them anyway, given how selfish he is. And I suspect there was manipulation on his part involved to get Sera to agree with them.) I kinda hope this doesn't lead to her being villainized, though. We have enough villainous characters in Hazbin already, it's nice to have someone who's neither fully good nor fully bad.
I dont think you will get to Heaven easily in Hazbin Hotel,because first only the Angels like Sera or The Exorcists can make Portals leading to Heaven,Second theres a Golden Gate that can only be opened if you passed the Divine Judgment before getting to Heaven

Which I'm assuming is a reference to the Elders of heaven, which I'm guessing is just another name for the Archangels of Heaven as they are known to be the most powerful of The angels, above even a head seraphim such as Sera. And it seems to me that "heavens rules" are actually THEIR rules, and sera is only following their orders. And if lower ranking angels such as herself or emily begin to question said rules, the archangels/elders of heaven will see that as a sign of rebelling, just as Lucifer did in biblical lore. So my theory is that Lower ranking angles such as the seraphim are pawns doing the archangels bidding of exterminating demons and blocking sinners redeemed souls from entering heaven as they will not accept or allow a hell originated soul into, as they may view it as befouling the holy grounds of heaving to allow a soul from hell to enter heaven, and while Pentious has been redeemed, I suspect it has not caught the attention of the elders just yet. And that the elders/archangels of heaven will be less than pleased to learn about it. And if God is to make an appearance in Hazbin Hotel in the Final season, my theory is that during all this, he is watching from an upper sanctum of heaven that no angel can reach, not as a villain, but as a Dissapointed and broken father who sees no point in intervening in the pointless and endless conflicts his children start with demons and his fallen human children.

She is for all intents and purposes the prime minister or queen of heaven in Hazbin, the Elders rank below her, not above. *And it seems to me that "heavens rules" are actually THEIR rules, and sera is only following their orders. And if lower ranking angels such as herself or emily begin to question said rules, the archangels/elders of heaven will see that as a sign of rebelling* The more likely thing is that the Elders are just old and respected angels like Sera herself that she can't just bowl over despite her high rank. They would be like the parliament or council to Sera's royal position. The more likely scenario is that there's more going on with Lilith and the Evil that managed to enter the World that we don't know yet. Maybe even a redeemed demon is a foothold for the Evil to get into heaven and cause mayhem.

Sera is likely based on Seraphiel(means God's Seraph) from the book of Enoch, the Prince of all Seraphim who teaches them all to sing and protects Metatron(God's Scribe). Would also explain her being so tall and her bird features, Seraphiel is described to have the body and wings of an eagle but the face of an angel, and to be seven heavens tall.
In my opinion: Sera is not evil. Sera is an Angel following her inherent biblical programming. As the Head Seraph her job is to Protect heaven and Earth and so if that means to Execute Demons in fear of being attacked by evil she will do what has to be done. She doesn’t question herself or her programming in fear of Falling like Lucifer or being severely punished because she’s been indoctrinated by fear. And so she clouds her subjects and the other Seraphim including her sister from this so they don’t question anything get heaven in an uproar. And it’s Emily’s Programming as a Seraph to keep heaven in Jubilation and Happiness and Peace. With the Exorcists Girls their inherent programming is like the warrior Angels which is to Kill the Demons and Evil, they were programmed to hate evil by any means that even means changed Evil

Well, (if I recall correctly) in the Bible because of the first sin (Adam and Eve eating from forbidden fruit) the Heaven's gate was closed for every soul until Jesus Christ died, he then went to Hell to get all the souls (or all the souls that deserve it I don't remember) to Heaven. So probably because Adam was first man he became first soul
Well, Vivize is going loosely off the Jewish Bible, but most of what is in this show is what Vivize believes about heaven and hell and whoever she thinks ended up where. Also, who's Abel?? It’s just that everything is deliberately presented in such a way as to make the inhabitants of hell appear to be victims, while they themselves are to blame. No one even thought that the child from hell that Vaggie took pity on might actually be a maniac strangling other children with nylon tights. You have to pay for everything, that's the point. You can’t get away with what you’ve done simply by apologizing, etc. You cannot run away from the past, it remains a stigma forever. To be fair, Sera sounds like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. When something as big as hell is uprising, there really is no other choice. She probably thought nobody in hell would be interested in or if it was even possible for redemption. She really didn't have much of a choice.

I just realized an idea for a dark and gritty fanfic that I won't write involving a human soul who's a devoted christian, whom upon seeing this heaven (its messed up standards, Adam being a douche despite him being an angel, etc), felt betrayed by God, essentially going through something akin to grief and in a fit of rage and insanity goes on a killing spree to destroy Heaven (think of it as like Postal 1/Redux with a bit of Undertale Genocide and the second half of Spec Ops: The Line). The story could be narrated like the "war journals" from Postal 1/Redux where he believes he's doing something good, with his insanity only becoming more prevalent in his narration as the story goes on (to the point of even enjoying the carnage while still calling it "justice" and overall being more brutal). By the end, he would go to the last place in Heaven where God is hiding and he expects some huge confrontation with him but instead of meeting him directly he's put through a series of nightmarish visions of all the horrible things he's done which causes him to break down, heavily implying to be from God himself (kind of inspired by the ending of Postal Redux and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come from A Christmas Carol but leaning more heavily on the horror side).

I’m not sure but I get the feeling that there is more going on that we the audience are not being told. I feel as as though Sera wanted to explain more but didn’t have the chance. Either that or there is an unknown plot device that is forcing Sera to be quiet. The writing for the show has been brilliant and I highly doubt the writers just “accidentally” forgot to answer such a major plot hole.

I don’t know if I’m crazy for thinking this, but it’s interesting that not even the angels knows how a soul can reach heaven.
It gives the idea that only God itself knows how his creation (reality) works, while everyone else try to understand it.

I can’t tell you how relieved I was that Viv didn’t go with “all angels are evil” route. Just like in Hell, there are those that are despicable (Adam), those who are pure good (Emily), and those in a gray area (Sera). It makes the plot and characters much more complex, and prevents the series from looking like just an edgy middle finger to religious people.
I am FASCINATED by Sera's character. Always love me a good morally gray character. REALLY wanna see more of her, and find out what her deal is in Season 2. She's undeniably a massive coward, but I do wonder just how much legitimacy there is to her fears of Hell's uprising, if there really is an argument to exterminations being necessary (Though I kinda suspect Adam has his own agenda on suggesting them anyway, given how selfish he is. And I suspect there was manipulation on his part involved to get Sera to agree with them.) I kinda hope this doesn't lead to her being villainized, though. We have enough villainous characters in Hazbin already, it's nice to have someone who's neither fully good nor fully bad.

Which I'm assuming is a reference to the Elders of heaven, which I'm guessing is just another name for the Archangels of Heaven as they are known to be the most powerful of The angels, above even a head seraphim such as Sera. And it seems to me that "heavens rules" are actually THEIR rules, and sera is only following their orders. And if lower ranking angels such as herself or emily begin to question said rules, the archangels/elders of heaven will see that as a sign of rebelling, just as Lucifer did in biblical lore. So my theory is that Lower ranking angles such as the seraphim are pawns doing the archangels bidding of exterminating demons and blocking sinners redeemed souls from entering heaven as they will not accept or allow a hell originated soul into, as they may view it as befouling the holy grounds of heaving to allow a soul from hell to enter heaven, and while Pentious has been redeemed, I suspect it has not caught the attention of the elders just yet. And that the elders/archangels of heaven will be less than pleased to learn about it.
And if God is to make an appearance in Hazbin Hotel in the Final season, my theory is that during all this, he is watching from an upper sanctum of heaven that no angel can reach, not as a villain, but as a Dissapointed and broken father who sees no point in intervening in the pointless and endless conflicts his children start with demons and his fallen human children.

The Archangels in Christianity are the second lowest rank, nowhere near the top(though in judaism and islam, the Archangels rank highest). Adam is an Archangel in the show and he ranks far below the Seraphim in rank or power.
Also, the elders in the show(assuming they are an actual group, and not just a visual storytelling thing representing all the old angels) are Seraphim in the shots we see them. Sera is quite likely one of them and their leader(As she's been around since the very beginning AND created humanity on God's behalf in this show- you can see *her* hand making Adam).

The more likely thing is that the Elders are just old and respected angels like Sera herself that she can't just bowl over despite her high rank. They would be like the parliament or council to Sera's royal position.
The more likely scenario is that there's more going on with Lilith and the Evil that managed to enter the World that we don't know yet. Maybe even a redeemed demon is a foothold for the Evil to get into heaven and cause mayhem.

In my opinion: Sera is not evil. Sera is an Angel following her inherent biblical programming. As the Head Seraph her job is to Protect heaven and Earth and so if that means to Execute Demons in fear of being attacked by evil she will do what has to be done. She doesn’t question herself or her programming in fear of Falling like Lucifer or being severely punished because she’s been indoctrinated by fear. And so she clouds her subjects and the other Seraphim including her sister from this so they don’t question anything get heaven in an uproar. And it’s Emily’s Programming as a Seraph to keep heaven in Jubilation and Happiness and Peace. With the Exorcists Girls their inherent programming is like the warrior Angels which is to Kill the Demons and Evil, they were programmed to hate evil by any means that even means changed Evil
