Floor squeaks are usually caused by nails rubbing against wood. Use a stud finder to find the joist and screw the floor down.

the green and yellow retro tile is cool in an obscene kind of way.
squeaky floor= poor man's burglar alarm?

Haha I like that “poor mans burglar alarm”!

On that second fix, run a generous bead of construction adhesive in the gap between the floor and the joist from the bottom, then add more goop to the block you are screwing in place. The installation of the block will force the adhesive into the gap so when it's dry the squeak will be gone. (it's the gap that allows movement / squeak)

My bedrooms and hallways floors are squeaky but you can not see the bottom floors as they are my kitchen and living room floors. How to fix these problems? Thanks

How do you fix a squeaky floor if you don’t have a basement and the hardwood floors is all you have? I don’t have any sub-flooring house.

This is a great question that I am hoping to tackle in another video as I have the same situation happening in another room. Stay tuned!!

@@TheFixerHomeRepair ... This Old House has an episode where they use special screws through a hardwood floor. Using a jig and these special screws, they tighten up then break off below flush. When you are done a small amount of wood filler covers the work. (hole is less than 1/8")

I remember when I was a kid my dad wanted to stop a squeaky wood floor at the bottom of the steps going to the second floor. We went into the crawl space and he put in shims(?) and it stopped the squeak. I asked him why he didn’t fix the squeak in the steps. He said it was so he could hear if my sisters and I were trying to sneak up or down the stairs at night. We just learned where there were no squeaks! 😂

The other option for fixing squeaky floors is bringing a psychic to your house and I guarantee you that the psychic will be able to predict that the floor has to be fixed or it will continue to squeak.

you forgot to GLUE the wood cleat against the floor joist before you screwed it in

Ha! Be careful. The last time you went to fix a squeaky floor you discovered major termite damage!
