When Martin gets a cryptic invitation to join “The Bones,” Torrington’s most elite secret society (a society that he never believed actually existed until now), he’s very surprised. Martin, normally not a “joiner,” finds himself seduced by the allure of the clandestine group, as well as the perks that their membership offers: free food in the cafeteria, his own private tutor, a generous weekly allowance, and a brand new sports car! The covert initiation process soon gets underway (in an underground chamber), and Martin meets his fellow inductees as well as “The Bones’” clandestine, hooded members. Martin is shocked and awed when it’s revealed that that the members all possess amazing supernatural powers (once can disappear and reappear; one can move things with his mind; etc.)! And, when he realizes that similar powers would be bestowed upon him if he passes the initiation, he is even more impressed. Martin tries to keep his secret from Diana, but when she notices a sudden change in his behavior (he’s acting like an elite jerk and hanging out with the school’s biggest snobs) she begins to grow suspicious. Can Diana figure out what’s going on before Martin (and the other clueless inductees) face their final initiation - a ritual where they must face an ancient monster (a big scary skeleton creature) and possibly be eaten by it!?! In a b-story, Jenni starts dating Martin because of his newfound social status. The result is a rift between her and Diana.
🇺🇸 16 year-old Martin Mystery loves slime and has a wild passion for all things paranormal. Luckily, when he is not at school, he works undercover as an investigator for a secret bureau specialising in mysterious phenomena!
