I want to delete my socials because don’t like their role in my personal life. When I use social media, I am constantly comparing myself to other artists and the content they create, feeling worse about myself in the process. As an artist there is so much pressure to be on social media, and it’s true that you can create so much growth that way. It’s how I got to have millions of streams in the first place. It is to comfort those who I am truly meant to help, to bring them peace and self-love, and I trust that they will find my music regardless of how much I advertise it, especially since my audience is already quite large. I haven’t posted much on social media anyway in about a year, and the only reason I haven’t deleted it yet is because I haven’t seen an alternative path until now. I feel that in a way, my leaving social media as a fairly popular artist will show other people my age- Gen Z here- that it is possible (and even healthy) to live a life outside of the digital. I’m not saying it’s inherently bad to use social media; I am simply showing that the alternative is possible. Especially since I am an independent artist and I haven’t seen a popular independent artist make such a decision and still be successful. I will show other creatives that it IS possible. I’m not yet sure what I’m going to do instead. I will probably make a website or something, just so people can be updated with what new music I’m working on. But even though I don’t know where I’m going, I know where I don’t want to be. Vanessa... I would like to honor my feminine energy. But... It is hard to do it when people around me dishonor my masculine energy. I'm going on a date tomorrow and I also got another date with someone else programmed (although not completely planned out yet) for the day after.
