Some tough conditions with the heat and bugs!! Bring on wind to keep the bugs down. You two are so awesome!! Adapting to the conditions you are met with! Your crushing it and I love following y'all!

You two rock! Just for giggles my wife and I rewatched the first half dozen episodes from your AT series. Watching you now just cruise down the trail and say things like "we've done 15 and it's ONLY six more to McDonald's is so cool. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

lol. We rewatched our first video the other day and had to laugh at how slow we walked. We’ve definitely gained confidence and fitness over the last 7 years. Thanks for watching.

There are 35 types of Yuccas in the deserts of the south west. They do leave some toxins in a puncture wound (though they can cut like a knife too). It’s likely to be a pain for a few days. Be sure to treat the puncture spot with an antibiotic to prevent an infection. Advil or Tylenol will reduce inflammation and pain. Stay cool 😎 too you two.

Excellent executive decision! You might consider getting the bug head nets. They will help you stay sane! Happy trails from San Diego ❤

We have head nets, but they are a bit stuffy. It’s always a crapshoot which is worse, the bugs or the net.

I hate those flies. Ran into them big time north of Richardson Lake on the TRT, and in Montana in the Bob Marshall. I'll take mosquitoes any time over horse or deer flies! Re the heat - can you soak your shirts in streams or lakes? I guess they are few and far between anyway. But I love that - a nice cold shirt to put back on!

Great idea and we’ve done that as well as soaking our buffs. It helps for sure!!

That might have been a Flextail pump? I have 2 versions of it. A fat and a thin version. I do like the thin version but I wouldn't take either on a LD hike. I'd use my Pump Sack and that works well to inflate the sleep pad. Hmmm, letting go of the stove would be tough for me but maybe on a LD hike, I might consider it. Cold soaking doesn't appeal to me at all. Don't you have the bug nets to put over your head? I know those flies bite right through clothing so they are miserable. I think they are after the salt but you can't stop that from coming out all over your body. Oh man, nothing like McDonalds to get out of the desert. Ouch on the ankle. Neosporin and Benadryl. Keep the faith and keep on truckin'. John from MI

Yes, it was the FlexTail. Wasn’t impressed the thing with bug nets is they are stifling and sometimes it’s difficult to determine which is worse the bugs or the net :)

You might want to send your cook kit forward to Kennedy Meadows, It might be nice to have in the sierras.
