I'd like to know, what source made you say the maximum read length goes up to 1500bp? From what I have read, your average read is about 700bases, with a maximum of ~1000bases

it is anecdotal - we have seen a few reads with really pure samples with sequences approaching 1500 nt, but most reads are around 800-1000 nt.
