    More recommendations:
Don't carry the knife around your neck unless you use something with buttons to stick it between them. If you fall, it could end up in a position that could embed itself in your body.
Use an extra belt to carry the most useful things: Knife, Axe, First Aid Kit, Gloves, Bag to grab something and store it...
With a wide cloth, create protection to wear over the tops of your boots and pants lower part. It can be attached with some velcro. This way, there is no risk of any bugs or sticks getting inside the boots.

It’s nice to be able to get denatured alcohol in gallons-hope the remodelers don’t switch to electric wallpaper strippers for a few more years . Great scenery in Vermont too. Thanks for the video.

I have that exact same stove. I only bought it for the pot stand, I already had a Trangia burner and it came with a Trangia clone which I keep as a backup. It is the best pot stand and fits perfectly my Bulin 1.5 L pot w/ heat exchanger bottom making it the most efficient alcohol stove I have seen. I can boil a full liter of water on 1 oz. of fuel.
I think you're right about the 'carnivore' thing. It might be a primordial feeling when you're in wilderness next to a fire.

  • @michaelhernandez410
    @michaelhernandez410 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

I always use a folding windscreen when using an alcohol stove. During even mild breezes- it reduces the boiling time considerably. This will have the benefit of reducing the amount of fuel that's consumed, which reduces the weight of fuel you will need to carry in your pack.

Truth. An Alcohol Stove and even the slightest air movement do not make good bedfellows.
Homemade or folding windscreens don't cost much and take up minimal space.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful fall views of the mountain side. The simplicity and quietness of an alcohol stove is what makes it one of my favorites for sure. The Latvian MRE was interesting to see. I also seen that the wooden spoon, paper with the list of contents and the disinfectant gel with ethanol, would also be a great aid as kindling and a fire accelerant in making a fire if need be. Pretty cool to see that. Keep up the great work your doing and never stop exploring!

@@ExplorewithmeMarloC You’re very welcome. When I fill a pack for being outdoors for extended periods of time. I try to pack gear or supplies that can be used for multiple purposes. With that mindset you have more yet carry less. It’s a simple minimalist mindset that may be worth considering depending on the amount of time in hiking and camping one may be doing.

Ohhh, my favorite Marlo, I missed you SO MUCH!! Been a crazy few weeks, and last week I was in Missouri for a wedding and some awesome urbex!
Happy Sunday, I hope you've been doing well (been slacking on videos, but I still stop by to like community posts).
This was another epic video; I can tell that fall weather is doing just fine for you. Beautiful site, loved the new equipment, and dinner looked great...chili con carne; that's Spanish for chili with...Carne! 😉
Yeah, we all have those "off" days; not necessarily good or bad, just kinda disconnected...love the word discombobulated, did you know it's actual definition is "to be ripped apart at the joints"?
A coworker of mine calls those days (or the mind frame) a "blue funk". I'm glad you can still make do and have a good time...honestly, you should carry a mirror with you (to signal aircraft if you're lost), but so you can see your smile in those blue funks...I know seeing your smile always makes me feel better. 😊
Anyway, thank you for sharing, and for all you do to let us experience the awesomeness that is you! Hope you have a gorgeous week, and I look forward to your next adventure, stay safe and take care!! 👍😁❤️💪🍃🫵

Yup, alcohol stoves are not quick but hey, if you had a couple eggs with you, into the kettle, by the time it boils for the coffee, you have hard boiled eggs to enjoy as well :) And yea, "diet" ideals swing with the regularity of a pendulum. They have for as long as people have been writing cook books. Like De Observatione Ciborum (its an interesting book, got mine from Amazon), it isn't a 'cook book' as we think of them today but a way to cook for health written in the 6th Century CE. In time a new idea will take hold and everyone will be eating oh I don't know, seaweed and ice cream and proving mental vigor by sleeping standing on one leg maybe who knows LMAO for now everyone is eating meat at a time meat is at an absolute historical high in prices and historical low for quality :)

The most I will carry is a DJI mini 2 drone. I use multiple apps for editing. I prefer simplicity. Film for your self and don’t try to please the masses, you’ll end up losing yourself to chase content instead of being in the moment. Hope that helps and thank you for checking this out.

They look about as big as Carpenter ants but have a white stripe somewhere on their abdomens & they mean business!
Me & my now ex GF if a bunch if years ran into the ines in Lake Tulley after deciding to explore the top most portion of that usland I spoke if & it didnt take long for those things to come out & convince us to take the Hell off from there!
She lost a oair if 200.09$ Ray Bans up there & our still going joke even though we're not dating is how those ants used the glasses gor some kind of solar tech!
The other, I firget ehat I was doing but probably cleaning up the woods while I was still involved with RPMfest & I was by this tree that I decided to rest kind if on.
Well, it didn't take long for those same kind of ants to send me packing away from that tree!
I'm glad you didn't break an ankle from the gopher or whatever they were holes you stumbled across!!
I know if it'd been me, that more than likely would've been the case!
