The silliest thing is the absolute lack of detective work and the surprise at failure to nail anything down remotely close to solving the case. Baseless accusations supported by imaginary evidence in attempts to fool the AI. Makes it so funny. This is great content. Thank you Charlie.
I love these, please finish this game. It's all so funny but let's not forget how insanely wild this application of A.I. is, some of these responses are so unique yet perfectly address what Charlie said.
This actually isn’t a terrible AI game, it actually works, this can be the first of something very popular, like if the Quarry was AI, but like really good AI. And Charlie trying to manipulate the AI and fail also proves the AI is pretty smart
honestly the idea of like, making the game seem more alive by allowing NPCs to integrate AI in their responses to uniquely respond to situations based off previous encounters with the player would be so cool. like of course important dialogue and the character itself would be normally written then fed to the AI so it has reference for these unique lines
This game is honestly amazing. If something like this is released with more polish in the future, I think that’ll be a great step forwards in what AI can do for gaming.
Being able to communicate with near-real dialogue instead of the cookie-cutter dialogue trees would be next level. Elder Scrolls 6 with this being an option, having multiple branching paths you can take, hell even letting you just randomly roleplay with non-quest NPC's would be goated. Having the option to recruit nearly any NPC as a companion with the right charisma checks but your own "charisma" could be another layer.
Charlie managing to inject a MANTICORE into the situation, and the rumor successfully STICKING, is the most hilariously perfect outcome I could have ever dreamed of from a Let's Play.
"Or in this case the murderer." "I t-" "But I'm not sure if I'm the right bird for the job." "I thi-" "I mean, I'm just a small fish in a big pond." "Wi-" "Maybe we should call in the big guns and let them handle it." "Bru-" "What do you thiink" "I-... Jones you're fired"
Seeing the word detection fail so many times while Charlie was trying to say Monsieur Saxabar only for him to go full french and the word detection to detect "Mansour sucks Omar" got my throat hurting from laughter
50:27 I'm convinced that if Charlie just asked for the whole story instead of just continuing with the gaslighting he would've actually got a real lead.
This is legit making me want to make a really basic game with proximity voip, and a bunch of GPT style AI NPCs walking around doing whatever they want / talking to eachother / you / whatever.
@RedsBigRig ai isnt really smarter than us, because it doesnt really have lateral thinking. It can try and mimic lateral thinking or emotions but it has such a weak grasp of the concepts that it doesnt really make sense. That may be why ai can lie to us successfully, because even the truth is presented in such an uncanny way that you may as well read a one sentence text message for context or emotion
I mean, you don't have to really know someone for them to be considered a close friend. Though uh, if someone has thoughts like that, I would suggest better friends lol
It really is a neat concept; but without facial expressions, more emotionally dynamic tones of voice, a solid timeline to follow and physical evidence to collect: it's basically "We have LA Noire at home".
Yk all the videos he posts are recorded prior on his streams, there are multiple channels that post these videos before he does... I searched on yt and found this game play prior to him posting it today, just so you know! I found out recently aswell when looking up his only up videos
34:14 The AI is indeed glitching and giving Charlie the answer: Count Gravesen feels happy upon hearing about the death of Andrea and is supposed to say something that expresses that happiness; but the AI generates replies with certain "personality traits" that must've been "programmed" into the AI in order to give them, well, personalities. And as these two things clash, the AI writes out why it cannot generate the response it should. So Count Gravesen either killed Andrea and feels happy about it, or knows who did it and feels happy about it.
I almost keeled off my chair laughing and wheezing at Charlie trying to ask Marina about Saxabar, and God damn it I'll do it again later. Also I think this is the most emotion I think I've ever seen from Charlie. Frustration, laughing, depression, all here.
In most detective games, when Charlie says "They're good." he's usually joking. But in this case, Saxabar actually fully understood his rights, and wasn't giving in to any of Charlie's usual tactics even a little bit.
I wonder how this ai would react to actual interrogation techniques Like what if you made them establish a timeline? Would the ai even be Abe to remember the timeline they gave?
Yeah, I was wondering that as well, just ask more and more report building questions and then try and trap them into saying something indirectly that you could then use to catch in a lie.
@bean8990 I see this hinted at in the gameplay here. While rejecting made-up evidence, an alibi is given which heavily contradicts the known timeline. Possible spoilers: Charlie's being told Ingrid was busy at the time of Hailey's murder, practicing for an audition to fill the absence resulting from Hailey's murder. I've not played this but the scene I'm referring to? Ingrid's explanation for why she could not have been present at the crime scene. 38:07 - 39:33 She was busy practicing for an audition. Charlie pushes back by saying the theatre director could not* verify this. Ingrid pushes back with... the show was announced more than a month ago, speaking as though her alibi switched from "independent practice for an audition" to a standard rehearsal for something she's already part of. I get the impression it's true the show was already scheduled & that rehearsals were taking place that night. The audition phase would be over.
Lmao I love watching Charlie play this game. Charlie: Pascal, you and Nikola were competing businessmen. Pascal: Yes, I we both had grocery shops. Charlie: Oh it was actually Pascal! No interviewing to get a timeline and corroborate witness statements, just instant accusations lmao

these characters LOVE their idioms, huh. that’s how the cookie crumbles, don’t count your chickens before they hatch, the proof is in the pudding, etc etc. like, was this game’s language training based entirely around nice friendly grandmas?
Apparently the murderer was Graveson. Something about Mrs Potter and him having an affair, making her kill her husband, mr potter. Graveson killed the three to protect Miss Potter because they were liabilities as they had gone to India with The potters and Graveson. The manticore belonged to Graveson, and was being trained by Saxabar for him. That’s the solution, though how you were supposed to figure this out is.. unknown. I believe you were supposed to find small pieces of info from each other though the ai probably went rogue or you didn’t ask the right questions.
I mean, he clearly didn't ask the right questions even considering the rogue AI LOL. He just kept saying "I saw you do it" to everyone about the exact same killing and expected them to say "gee, you're right, detective"
Hearing the guy be like "Detective Martini, this is complete nonsense" is so hilarious lmao This game seems so good and hopefully opens more interesting things in the space.
and the game will get even better: there is no prescriptedkiller, so every time you start a game, it generates a new story based on the first questions you ask: it generates a motive, a killer, alibis etc.. so that every time you play it's different.
I know it will take at least 1-2 years for major dev to use adaptive AI for their NPC in their game but I can't wait to see more mod and indie game with AI so that Charlie could play it cuz it is hella entertaining Can't wait in 5 years where this kind of thing will be mainstream

The silliest thing is the absolute lack of detective work and the surprise at failure to nail anything down remotely close to solving the case. Baseless accusations supported by imaginary evidence in attempts to fool the AI. Makes it so funny. This is great content. Thank you Charlie.

honestly the idea of like, making the game seem more alive by allowing NPCs to integrate AI in their responses to uniquely respond to situations based off previous encounters with the player would be so cool. like of course important dialogue and the character itself would be normally written then fed to the AI so it has reference for these unique lines
This AI is not that good to praise it. Getting softlocked in a game with A.I, I imagine, must be a common thing.
This game is honestly amazing. If something like this is released with more polish in the future, I think that’ll be a great step forwards in what AI can do for gaming.

I can already see the wild shit players gonna say 😂
Being able to communicate with near-real dialogue instead of the cookie-cutter dialogue trees would be next level. Elder Scrolls 6 with this being an option, having multiple branching paths you can take, hell even letting you just randomly roleplay with non-quest NPC's would be goated. Having the option to recruit nearly any NPC as a companion with the right charisma checks but your own "charisma" could be another layer.

@@RedsBigRig I was honestly surprised Charlie didn't call her out on that 😂
@RedsBigRig ai isnt really smarter than us, because it doesnt really have lateral thinking.

Would NOT feel happy*
I like how all of the AI characters are also detectives.

In most detective games, when Charlie says "They're good." he's usually joking. But in this case, Saxabar actually fully understood his rights, and wasn't giving in to any of Charlie's usual tactics even a little bit.
I wonder how this ai would react to actual interrogation techniques
Like what if you made them establish a timeline? Would the ai even be Abe to remember the timeline they gave?
Yeah, I was wondering that as well, just ask more and more report building questions and then try and trap them into saying something indirectly that you could then use to catch in a lie.
They forget the whole conversation once you leave apparently
I bet you that they will say "That's impossible... anyways what brought you to become a detective?"
@bean8990 I see this hinted at in the gameplay here. While rejecting made-up evidence, an alibi is given which heavily contradicts the known timeline. Possible spoilers:
Charlie's being told Ingrid was busy at the time of Hailey's murder, practicing for an audition to fill the absence resulting from Hailey's murder.
I've not played this but the scene I'm referring to? Ingrid's explanation for why she could not have been present at the crime scene. 38:07 - 39:33
She was busy practicing for an audition.
Just imagine a LA Noire type game with AI NPCs like this. Would be incredible

To be fair it's only Biagio being an annoying pretentious asshole that says allat. And I think all this is supposed to be set around the 50's or so
Apparently the murderer was Graveson.
