I immediately thought your blouse was stunning and when you said it is the Marnie I did a double take. I've seen lovely versions but never any that made me think it would be something I might like for myself. The fabric, color, and doing just the pintucks really highlights them. Also, a great reminder that using the finished garment measurements to help choose how you want the garment to fit is a fantastic idea.
Thank you so much I'm pleased you like it. It's amazing how different patterns can look made from different fabrics isn't it. I almost look to the finished garment measurements more than the body measurements these days as I think it often serves me better :) Thank you for watching xx
Your Marnie is hands down the most beautiful version I've seen! 😍 I used to absolutely hate having to put in invisible zippers also until I watched Sew Essential's tutorial. Now they're super easy!
Your Marnie blouse is absolutely gorgeous! Those pintucks make all the difference, as well as your perfect choice of fabric. Congratulations on such a beautiful make ❤
Friday Pattern Company does have a tutorial on how to line the Ilford. I made the longer version last year in a corduroy fabric and lined it. It's one of my favorite things I've made.
I think you definitely saved the best for last! That blouse you're wearing is absolutely gorgeous. The color paired with that silhouette is fantastic and I think that sizing down was definitely a smart move. Fantastic work!!
I keep saying it Sally...classy makes again. Everything is so beautiful. Your Marnie is stunning and im so glad you did a plain version as it really emphasises those tucks.... very inspiring. 😊
All of your makes are lovely as always, but that Marnie Blouse! My goodness! It's stunning. You've made it so elegant and understated in a way that just doesn't come across from the line drawings. I think you might have changed a lot of minds with this video!💙
Sally I was going to comment on your Marnie blouse but I’d just be repeating what has been written. It is stunning 😍 A dress version in that fabric would be perfect for a wedding ❤
Oh you make such lovely things and I’m so inspired to bust my sewing machine out and make something cute that is well planned out. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. It’s fun to watch you!
Hi Sally, lovely to see all your beautiful makes. I just love the Marnie Blouse on you the colour really suits you, the fabric choice really shows off the beautiful pin tucks, just a lovely make! x
Hi Sally, I just wanted to say how much I love that Marnie blouse. I think going for a solid colour is a really good idea as it shows off the lovely pleats. I just wanted to mention the size of the zip in the Pippa dress. I actually went for a shorter zip (18”) even though I made the long dress. My daughter is 5ft2” and the shorter zip works better. 😊
I love these makes, particularly the jacket. It would definitely be a make that I would wear a lot. You’re very brave making a dress with a side zip of you don’t like zips in general, I always find them harder!
Thank you, I'm glad you like the jacket I hope it will be a good autumn piece. I know, I felt it was time I got over myself haha they are tricky aren't they x
Fantastic video as always. I got back into garment sewing about 2 years ago after years of quilting. Made many items because I saw them on other people only to find that I don’t wear them because they don’t fit my lifestyle. I’m now trying to be more aware when choosing patterns. I’ve recently made a Southbank dress and yesterday I made the version 2 in a teddy bear fleece. Love that pattern! Keep your videos coming
I'm really glad I've watched this. I've had the Ilford pattern for at least 18 months and have been intimidated by it. I was going to pass it on but this has made me think again 👍🏻
Noooo don’t be intimidated! Definitely give it a go it’s a great pattern to try if you’re feeling nervous go for the simple version I made. I’d love to know how you get on xx
Lovely makes ❤ I think your Marnie blouse is gorgeous. I wouldn’t have picked the pattern from the pictures on the front of the packet but your version has sold it too me. Off to make a purchase 😊
I absolutely LOVE your Marnie blouse. That's exactly how I would make one, as well, with pin tucks, solid floaty fabric, and no ruffle. I'm planning on making a blouse first, and then if I like it, I want go ahead and make one into a dress with an elasticized waist.
There have been quite a few patterns that initially I would never have even considered, but once I see the versions that you have made I love them. That blouse is gorgeous! Looking at the pattern I still can't believe it's the same one, because I honestly didn't care for it when I first saw it. I also love that green coat, I am a huge fan of outwear and coats are my weakness haha. Again it's a pattern I wouldn't have been drawn too initially but I loved how you styled it with your sweater and rain boots. So cute. I am currently waiting for fabric to come in the mail so I can make my own version of a black quilted riding jacket to wear with my riding boots I got for Christmas. I am so excited about it!
Your version of the Marnie made me want the pattern! Beautiful! I have made the Ilford three times now, and I’m going to make a hip length one in a shirting for a nice top.
Some really lovely patterns and garments there. I’ve made the Ilford twice in both lengths. Your dress is delightful and the fabric is great, I don’t think I would have picked it from the website but it’s really lovely. A successful make. ❤❤❤ I love your Marnie , it’s beautiful. it’s really beautiful in the solid fabric. I think the blouse better for me than the dress.
Thank you so much I find it so interesting how different a fabric or pattern can look depending on fabric choice 😊 I’m glad you like the Marnie I’m thrilled with how it turned out xx
As others have said, I didn’t like the Marnie blouse as I thought it was too frilly and fussy for me, but seeing yours has made me think twice about it - the fabric definitely makes it! Well done.
Beautiful Marnie, I have one of those cut out too. I just need to squeeze in some more sewing time, somehow! Lovely summer makes, looking forward to seeing your autumn plans 😊
The blouse is gorgeous! Great result! Want one like yours. I got the pattern...haven't got around to making it yet. Thank you, will definitely go for a viscose!
Thank you for sharing all your fabulous makes. I particularly like your jacket and Marnie blouse I was not sure about the Marnie even though I have seen a lot of wonderful versions, but I think you have convinced me to try it as those pin tucks are just amazing. I definitely think I would make the most simple style too.
I bought the Pippa dress pattern too and still not got round to it. Your dress is beautiful as is the blouse. The style of the shorts is very similar to the Barry woven pants by Style Arc. Same waist band and slanting pockets.
To line trace the front pattern piece on tissue. Put the facing piece on that then cut off that traced facing. Then add a seam allowance to it. Use the other pattern pieces but make the hem a little smaller
Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned so much from you. I sewed quite a lot as a young woman of the late 60's & 70's. Now in my 70's I am enjoying making my own again. I love all the Indie patters with success & a failure or two. That is why I appreciate your commentary on what you have sewn and how the sizing is on each. I am flying over on 10/2 to spend a few weeks with my daughter and family and spending a few days in London just for me. A friend told me about Gold Hawk Road and that I just had to visit. What do think is it worth it? Again thank you and take care ❤
Ah thank you for watching and I'm so pleased to hear you're finding the videos helpful. I have actually never been to Gold Hawk Road sadly so I can't help you there. However, I've heard it's definitely worth a browse so I'd say go for it. Have an amazing trip xx
Hi! Lovely makes. I want to make the Ilford Jacket as well, using the Violet Variated Fur Backed Corduroy Fabric from Guthrie and Ghani. The fabric is available elsewhere, but G&G has the best price per meter that I could find. This was you don't have to line it separately and it provides warmth. For the Pippa dress, could you actually add a working buttonhole or two, at the top and omit the side zip? Thank you!
Ah that sounds super cosy I’ll have to look that fabric up. Yes I think you probably could add actual button holes if you preferred but you’d have to be careful they didn’t gape at all since the dress is quite fitted x
Haha oh I know what you mean! I can’t have anything funnel sleeved, because this one is elasticated you can actually pull them up if you leave the elastic loose enough x
That Marnie blouse though! I can't get over how beautiful it is! The details are so gorgeous! You chose the perfect fabric to show the details off! X
Aw thank you! I’m sooo thrilled with it actually and so pleased to have finally given it a go 😊 x
I’ve seen a lot of Marnies. This is by far the most beautiful. You can really see the detail in the fabric you’ve chosen.
Aw thank you so much xx
Wasn't a fan of the Marnie, until I saw this. Made to perfection and that colour is spot on for you!
Thank you so much - so kind 😊 x
I immediately thought your blouse was stunning and when you said it is the Marnie I did a double take. I agree, just stunning ❤
Friday Pattern Company does have a tutorial on how to line the Ilford. I made the longer version last year in a corduroy fabric and lined it. It's one of my favorite things I've made.
Fab I’ll have a look at that then I hadn’t looked into it very well so that’s good to know. Yours sounds lovely 😊 xx
The green jacket and your blouse look great together!
Thank you love the colours together 😊 xx
What a beautiful Marnie. It suits you perfectly. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much I’m glad you like it 😊 x
I thought I hated the Marnie pattern - but yours is GORGEOUS! Makes me want to reconsider Tilly’s patterns. Thank you for sharing ❤
Aw thank you so much I’m so pleased you like it xx
Hi Sally, your makes are just so beautiful. So inspiring. The Marnie blouse has to be my favourite. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much I'm glad you like them xx
I think you definitely saved the best for last! That blouse you're wearing is absolutely gorgeous. The color paired with that silhouette is fantastic and I think that sizing down was definitely a smart move. Fantastic work!!
Thank you! Yes, definitely pleased to have sized down xx

I have an invisible zip to install & it has totally stopped me from sewing for a few weeks now! Definitely my nemesis too!! 😂
Haha well I’m glad it’s not just me xx
The jacket is fabulous! I love the Pippa dress too!
Thank you! Pleased to have both patterns in my collection now :) x
Sally I was going to comment on your Marnie blouse but I’d just be repeating what has been written. It is stunning 😍
A dress version in that fabric would be perfect for a wedding ❤
Aw thank you! Yes it would be wouldn’t it xx

Your Marnie is gorgeous in that fabric. The Ilford is so versatile. Ive made 2 so far! Cant wait to see how you get on lining your next one.
Thank you! The Ilford is so popular isn’t it x

Your version of the Marnie made me want the pattern! Beautiful!
I have made the Ilford three times now, and I’m going to make a hip length one in a shirting for a nice top.
Aw thank you! Yes I think that would work well wouldn't it. I wonder if I could become as obsessed with it as the Logan haha x

Beautiful Marnie, I have one of those cut out too. I just need to squeeze in some more sewing time, somehow! Lovely summer makes, looking forward to seeing your autumn plans 😊
It’s hard to fit it all in isn’t it. Thank you, I’m excited for autumn planning 😊 xx
The blouse is gorgeous! Great result! Want one like yours. I got the pattern...haven't got around to making it yet. Thank you, will definitely go for a viscose!
Thank you! I think viscose works really well xx

Thank you! I hope you enjoy making the Pippa some day. I’d like to make the Bob pants by SA next summer I think xx
To line trace the front pattern piece on tissue. Put the facing piece on that then cut off that traced facing. Then add a seam allowance to it. Use the other pattern pieces but make the hem a little smaller
Thank you for that it’s very helpful to know x
Sew pretty so mindful does a lined ilford jacket x
Thank you for that x
All you have to do is wear the jacket over a fleece hoody if you need warm. That way it could be written more often. It even a poufy vest.
Yes that’s very true thank you x

Haha oh I know what you mean! I can’t have anything funnel sleeved, because this one is elasticated you can actually pull them up if you leave the elastic loose enough x
The Ilford was released in 2019 so some time ago
Thank you yes I thought it was an older one 😊 x
xXXX👍👍👍
💕💕
Your blouse looks soooooo complicated 😮
It’s really not as complicated as it looks 😊 x
Your Marnie could even convince me to make one. I didn't like it untill now.
Aw thank you I hope you enjoy it if you make it 😊 x
