My lifestyle is very different from yours, I working with a laptop most of my day, I live in a city, but I do like my wild camping and being in the forest. I have your skillet, ordered from Bushcraft Spain, and I love it. I've been watching you for years, and in this crazy world of youtube where everything changes all the time, you've been a constant to me, as someone I always come back to, because you're always pushing your own limits and you're a constant learner and innovator. You are an inspiration to me as an entrepreneur and businessman, I run my own small business too, and I appreciate your attitude, your mentality and the knowledge that you give us here. Maybe I'll attend one of your classes too one day, as silly as it sounds, if I were to visit the US, a class of yours is one of the biggest attractions in the whole country to me. Crazy, right? I'd rather come all the way other there to spend 3 days in the forest in one of your classes than go see the Empire State Building or whatever :) Anyway, I just wanted to drop these lines as a thank you

I also enjoyed this Campfire Chat, even though I don't drink Coffee! I am a tea drinker and enjoy a strong black Earl Gray tea. I also frequently make Mullein tea to keep my lungs clear! I have a small diffuser that I carry with me and ALWAYS prepared to be able to stop, make a small fire (i have a small jet boil style burner and cannister in a bag in my truck) and brew up some tea! I keep a small 'bear' of honey in my truck to sweeten my tea as well....I would enjoy a whole series of these style chats Dave! Hope you and your precious family have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a most prosperous and bountiful HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We use a French Press almost exclusively. I was famous in my Army unit for coffee, I had my backpack stove and large percolator and everyone knew I had coffee. Trade for snacks and cigarettes!

But my goal of attending these courses has been my motivation to get in shape. I have exercised 5 days a week for the past nine weeks, and I have lost 35 pounds. Even when you did make a mistake, you 💯 owned up to it. Thats a man! You have always tried to do the right thing. I'm sure you have made mistakes and learned from them. That's what makes you a great man. You were definitely a pioneer in your field as far as recent history... no offense to the "oldie but goodies" Nessmuk ..etc... you can't go wrong when you give a great service or product for a great price. Great video interesting to hear class student to instructor numbers and be able to compare that to what some others offer. Also watch a video form a former instructor who said he left the school over the money not being enough and costs of travel. I really enjoy your no bs honesty in your videos.
Great video. I always wondered how the classes worked, and it sounds like you have your she it together. I saw you had a sale on the coffee and press and was going to order it after Christmas. Have a Merry Christmas.
The best way I've found to make group coffee is to mix the grounds and water together in a large enough bush pot and bringing just to a boil(cowboy coffee style), let steep off heat for a few minutes, then pour through a reusable coffee pot filter sitting in a canning funnel. Most of the grounds will settle to the bottom naturally. It's much easier to clean and pack than a French press. Everyone wants to share the coffee, but almost no one will help with making it and/or cleaning after. Best coffee upgrade is grinding whole and brewing immediately.

I really like that your people are ham certified (AA0CB/WRXF840) GMRS is also a great option as is employing APRS units for those certified for tracking purposes. I would love to see my videos on knot tying (something I lack skills at). I love the videos and my cook set I recently purposed (GI Canteen style) I plan to buy this press set and the bottle set soon as well. You know what they say one is none two is one!
Good video as usual! I use an old Cajun method to make my coffee ... A muslin coffee sock ... No grounds at all , and a pinch of salt. Makes great coffee ☕
The instructors at the pathfinder school will make sure you training needs are met and will have their noses in the dirt with you to make sure you learn the things that are taught, I recommend these courses. Oh, crap.......a French press that you can take apart? Dude, I wish I'd watched this video two weeks ago. The deal is over. That French press is worth it just for the portability and takedown option. I had to throw one away because the screen and vented metal plate on my old one wouldn't stay in place. I respect your commitment to qualification of staff for not only instructional knowledge but the redundancies you implement to ensure participant safety and timely emergency response notification should the need arise. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Insurance costs suck but getting sued, losing your business, and getting your name drug through the legal mud sucks more. Also, a clear conscience is priceless. Keep up the good work!

I consider myself pretty good in the woods, and I am constantly impressed by the bits of information I pick up when watching your videos. I believe that you should never stop learning, and I hopefully will get there one day for some classes. Add a small amount of salt (up to a 1/8 tsp) (preferred non iodine salt) to the cup of coffee. That will smooth the bite right out.
