Some people I know have no interest in anything the government does and are quite defensive of those in charge of it. They say they do not wish to get agitated about things over which they have no control. One is elderly and wants a peaceful existence. I wonder if this is a reflection of the views of most citizens and hence why politicians feel relaxed about any of their decisions or their popularity?

As a tax payer, I would far rather pay for the parties financing through a set limited taxation, than have a group of MPs for sale to the highest bidder, taking donations from big business, knowing that cash comes with requirements for “favours” down the line.
