I did high school in the 70s and the only real difference from the 80s is when I went we could go outside and smoke between classes or at lunch and 12th grade I only had to go half a day in the morning and often to the bar for lunch and a drink or two or three.
In 1981 in HS Physics our teacher pulled out a 5 foot x 3.5 foot bed of actual nails. I was born in 76. So I was in Elementary school in the 80’s. Jr High and High School in the early 90’s. Graduated in 95. I loved my jelly shoes. Mom hated them because they brought tiny rocks in the house. Good luck guys!
Good luck, as a kid of the 70s & 80s teen, Good luck with your finals, most importantly, living in the moment & embracing your friends and fun times, is very necessary!❤💙
As an American, I use Fahrenheit every day. Because I had a scientific education, I understand metric units as a second language. I automatically convert Celsius whenever I encounter it. Five Celsius degrees are equivalent to nine Fahrenheit. Start at zero C and go up or down: -40 C = -40 F -35 C = -31 F -30 C = -22 F -25 C = -13 F -20 C = -4 F -15 C = 5 F -10 C = 14 F -5 C = 23 F 0 C = 32 F 5 C = 41 F 10 C = 50 F 15 C = 59 F 20 C = 68 F 25 C = 77 F 30 C = 86 F 35 C = 95 F 40 C = 104 F 45 C = 113 F 50 C = 122 F
I like to think C is good for science but F is good for humans. 0C = water freezes 100C = boiling point 0F = too cold to venture outside 100F = too hot to go outside
(C x 9/5) + 32 = F or (F - 32) x 5/9 = C. We had to learn these formulas in school and I still use them today as well as knowing that 0 C = 32 F (freezing) and 100 C = 212 F (boiling). American students should still be taught this if they aren’t.
I was born in the mid 70s, so I was in Kindergarten - 8th grade during the 80s. I want to hop into a time machine, go back to the 80s, and stay there forever. We had far less technology but had way more fun.
Good luck on your end of year test Lea and Garin, I'm sure you both will do well. I graduated in 1975 and it's crazy how much changed from the 70's to the 80's when it comes to popular trends in fashion, music, and pop culture. Take care, have a blessed day. 🙌✌️😎
Well, I'm old enough to remember that before there were school supply boxes with charcters on them, we went to the local pharmacy and got an empty cigar box. They worked great and nobody seemed concerned that we had a box with us all day that basically advertised cigar smoking. I was in grammar school in the 60's, so it was really a different time. Girls had to wear dresses, except on Go Western day. Then we all dressed in our most "cowboy" clothing. Texas 😁
Before the video even starts, let me just confirm that the being a teenager in the 80's was thee absolute best!!! Big hair and big hair bands were awesome!!
Good luck kids! I'm an American and a Texan that lives in Tucson, Arizona... it's VERY hot here but I love Arizona. Just started watching y'all's channel and I love it. Keep up the great content and I'll keep watching.👀🌵🌴🌄🕊️🍀🦉❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I remember school from the early 1970s. Best of luck on your tests Lea and Garin. I am very concern for Garin. If his teacher has it out for him, the teacher might not be fair with the grading. Great video. The 1970s had some of those 1980s things but was different also.
Class of '83 here. We didn't think lawn jarts was dangerous. We didn't think lawn jarts while blindfolded and spun around 3x first was dangerous either. It was....exhilarating
Hope you did great on your tests!! I was a high school student in the early 1970s. Fun times. Fridays in the fall was Football...(American). I was on the soccer team, so I wasn't popular like the Football team members. 🤓
The good ol days when after school we stayed outside until dinner and then back outside until about 9pm. Then play some Atari/ColecoVision and watch some MTV & Fraggle Rock on HBO.
I was going to high school in the ghettos of Detroit. We had photo and weapons check to get into the school. 1976-1980. College 1980-1984. No I don’t miss school. Good luck on your final exams
The Breakfast Club is for sure ok for kids, if not than we had some questionable teachers since they would play that movie during lunch/recess in elementary school. Along with The Goonies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kindergarten Cop, and my favorite Jurassic Park. Thats all that I can remember. Oh damm, I just had a memory pop into my head of when I fell in love with Claire Danes when our Lit teacher played the 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and the hottie Claire Danes.
Love the Rancho Cucamonga shirt and Lea's Riverside (The Inland Empire) shirt. I used to live in the Inland Empire and have to commute to San Diego every day. Hope the final exams went okay!
32° is freezing in Fahrenheit. If it was in the 40s in Fahrenheit inside we'd have people in danger of dying from cold. 40° Celsius translates to 104° in Fahrenheit and it's getting there in the US too. Our temps here in the middle of the country are the same as yours right now. I graduated high school in 1983. Just watch "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" which came out right before my senior year, and "Valley Girl" which came out right after and you'll see what high school was like then.
I was a teacher AND a School Bus Driver. I used to reward good behavior more-so then punish bad behavior (every once in a while, a note would have to go home to be signed letting Mom and Dad know Jr was being a distraction. I worked in an area where I would buy a lot of things the toy stores had on clearance and give them away to whom-ever I didn't have to "talk to", then when I moved to an expensive district, I would give out, let's say a match box car (for a boy)_ and before they would love it, in the expensive district the kids were not thrilled, but then I gave stickers on their name tags and each quarter, whomever had the most stickers got a pizza party (or whatever was okay with the parents). So, in the less well-off area, a $3 toy was something. In the high-end areas, a $3 toy was garbage, but a .0001 cent sticker was the *&^(* (go figure). Anyway, I grew up in the70's finished HS in the 80's. Some of those things came along later (after my time). I had a teacher that would rub chalk on the eraser and get it all caked with white powder and then if someone was daydreaming, not paying attention or fell asleep, they would toss it (gently) at them causing a big white cloud of dust. The student would be embarrassed for a moment and class would continue. Today you probably get fired for that. Well, today we have whiteboards. I used to like splitting the class into groups of 2 to 4 and have contests on the subject, like a gameshow. Maybe (For example) You would have boys vs girls in a spelling bee (back when there were only 2 genders of course *sheesh*). I found that I could lecture and assign reading and no one would retain much, but if I could make a game out of it, especially a competition, then suddenly even the slackers would be ready come test day.
I think that as an adult you know how hard life can be. As a child, you don't usually. One thing that children don't understand is that the bad things in school you'll never have to face again once you are on your own. You can avoid people, move away, etc. It may not happen immediately, but you have control to change your own life. However, conversely, the fun memories you had as a child can never be had again. The best you can do is discuss it or, now, watch videos that remind you of things you enjoyed from the past. Kat - my niece loved her "Jellies" (today, you can get a 3D printer to make them!). While hubby may think they look stupid, they look better than Crocs. It's odd that the video didn't mention covering textbooks with brown paper grocery bags (or xmas wrapping paper). The brown paper bags could take stickers all over them and other decoration, just don't write on it with a ball point pen (it put dents in the cover) and don't use ink that might soak through while it was on the book. Don't know if you know the story about Oregon Trail (computer game). It was one of the first "edutainment" games designed by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC) which designed games that were educational. Oregon Trail teaches about the crossing of people heading to Oregon to land granted to them by the government. It was not easy, and many people died along the way (many of dysentery). Anyway, each game taught the students how to plan, how to engage in focus and how to handle situations. Another popular game was Lemonade stand, where a student would "buy" sugar, lemons, cups and set a price. If they set a good price, glasses of lemonade would sell and generate profit. Too low and there might not be profit. Too high and there might not be sales. There were other factors like weather, running out of supplies and so on. MECC would be bought out and a lot of corporate crap ensued. HOWEVER, Oregon Trail and some form of Lemonade Stand are available today (probably even on your phone's app store). Great games. My mother used to like Lemonade Stand a lot to decompress. We all need "stupid games" that we can play without having to use our brain much.
In my grade school (primary) it seemed like only the girls in class managed to stay organized after the first week. With their pencil cases, notebooks, folders, bookmarks, etc. The boys were borrowing supplies on a regular basis after about a month. The girls all seemed to have perfect handwriting and penmanship as well. 🤔Must be genetic😂
I always thought that banging erasers thing was something they only did in movies for the longest time. We never did that. It was always the Teacher or the teacher's aid's job. I thought it was magic when I was younger because we would come back to school the next morning with a perfectly clean chalkboard. I also had Jellie shoes. Mine were sandals that were pink with silver glitter. They were my favorite shoes ever. I was also the kid with all the Lisa Frank stuff. My Aunt actually worked for Lisa Frank and she would mail me boxes of stuff all the time. I had every sticker and pencil, I still have my Ballerina Bunny wristwatch still in its case and Ballerina Bunny beach towel. It makes me so happy to see Lisa Frank coming back.
My elite experience was... I tried out for flag bearers in elementary school. It was a competition, had to know how to do it, we were given test. Two of us made it. I had to fly the half staff for John Wayne got excused to do it. I wasn't going back and told him to just go home. He was actually a cool nerd from Nebraska. His brother was the quarterback of the high school football team and he was a dick to my brother. I have played backyard football with him. Regardless I went home and never heard of skipping.
15:30 The Oregon Trail is an old DOS game which can still be fun to play. There are several modern versions of the game out today. In real life, it was a 2000 mile journey from the midwest to the Pacific Ocean.
I was born in 80 and was pretty lucky with my Highschool having some cool classes. By the time we were seniors and had enough credits to graduate they had extra fun classes for us. 1 class we went bowling and fishing and golfing. Another class we had was Movie class, we watched a new popular movie everyday. (most people just slept). And the coolest class we had was Radio. My school had it's own radio station and during class we used to learn how to Dj and after school we got to host the radio station. Good times!
Breakfast club is rated R I’m afraid. But it’s in the same category as fast times at Ridgemount high. Breakfast club was rated due to language. Ridgemount high was literally sex scenes and nudity. Pretty in pink and sixteen candles are good but I’m not sure on rating.
Well wishes for your exams Lea and Garin Lea I also have a callus on my finger from writing all the time back in the day still have it 😊 Garin I also had a French teacher who didn't like me either and it doesn't feel good I understand I will remember you in my prayers study hard and do your best no matter what and everthing will work out for good had so much fun watching you enjoy watching mom and dad reliving their childhood sweet happy family ❤from Florida 📚🙏💗
Dad was so excited during this video the good ole days! They left all the hair styles and the 80's the hair bands the music is still popular to this day! Dad play them some 80's music from America! You should look up and do a reaction to the best 80's gadgets!
8:21 all my erasers was covered in little grey holes because I would push my freshly sharpened pencil into it. I couldn't stop doing it, it was soo satisfying.

I graduated in 1980. I had a science teacher that was absolutely loony toon. She would get so upset if she caught you chewing gum that she would start crying. She was probably in her 50's when she decided to get her drivers license. When she went to take her driving test she crashed the car with the State Trooper inside. Put both of them in the hospital. Oh the good old days.
It has been several years now, but I went back to school shopping with my granddaughter, and she would not get any brightly colored tops because it was too 80s.
This is me from Pennsylvania with wishes for both of the kids to do well on their tests.I love watching your videos.
They didn't mention what a big part of those days in the 80's was going home after school and watching MTV.
I concur, when Mtv actually played music videos. Those were the days.
Beavis and Butthead 😂
Laffin
Power Rangers and Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny toons.
The Mtv I remember played music videos all day and all night long no cartoons or drama show, but headbangers ball came on late Saturday night.

From the graduating class of 1982, good luck on your finals. I sure miss those days...
Best of luck kids. I graduated class of 1988
GOOD LUCK with your finals, Graham kids!!! :D :)
32 degrees in Slovakia is pretty warm. It is 35 C here in Fort Worth Texas today.
The young lady must be very smart, most kids in the USA don't take physics until college. Good luck on all your tests.😅😅😅
Class of '86'! My kids definitely know 80's music.
Good luck on your tests.
You need to put a correct spelling of the childrens first name. I have seen people spelling them many different ways. Thank you.😮😮😮
My elite experience was...
Born 1970 and went to catholic school. Altar boy 6 grade i would guzzle the wine.
15:30 The Oregon Trail is an old DOS game which can still be fun to play. There are several modern versions of the game out today. In real life, it was a 2000 mile journey from the midwest to the Pacific Ocean.
You don’t need good luck for your tests you’re gonna ace them good luck anyhow have a great week guys
Good times!
My Slovake mother has to have everything perfect ...
Good luck kiddos
Breakfast club is rated R I’m afraid. But it’s in the same category as fast times at Ridgemount high. Breakfast club was rated due to language. Ridgemount high was literally sex scenes and nudity. Pretty in pink and sixteen candles are good but I’m not sure on rating.
Good luck to you guys on your final tests. Stay calm and take care. Love your channel and your personalities. Great family
Good luck on final exam...My teacher didn't like me either!
Good Luck on Your testing. Love Seeing all of You together. God be with you all.
8:21 all my erasers was covered in little grey holes because I would push my freshly sharpened pencil into it. I couldn't stop doing it, it was soo satisfying.
The 80's was great. Now wealth, power and greed is destroying America. Have a great day
I hope you're trying to be ironic. Wealth, power, and greed have always been celebrated, but especially in the '80s.
@@JPMadden I am actually Native Cherokee. I was just being nice. This country always had a problem, wealth, power and greed. And through out history have killed so many innocent people. And took there land. Like my ancestors
@@jbcamm876 I agree with your second comment, which contradicts your first. I have learned, by watching it happen to friends and relatives, that being convinced that America has declined in your lifetime is the first step on a path which often leads to people becoming consumed by the voices of hate, division, and ignorance in this country. I hope this does not happen to you.
@@JPMaddenactually America is worse now than ever before.young people are lost, not raised with discipline, rules and direction. They were just left to do what ever they want. They have not respect and treat people bad. The government does not care about it's own people. America is collapsing and fall shall be great. I love this land not America. We were here first. And my people treated this land better. It was the British that bring sickness and disease here my people never saw before.
Good luck guys
I remember the 80' was busses with kids now grand kids 😅
You are right. Every girl HAD to have jelly shoes back then!
We would smoke in shop class, and there was a smoking room for 12th graders. Or just go outside and smoke. Dont smoke kids.
The blooper just indicated families are all the same no matter where you live! Hilarious!
