Dieses Lied müsste an jeder Strassenecke gespielt und gesungen werden und besonders vor dem Kanzleramt und vor der Parteizentrale der Grünen. Das heute nur noch Kriegsrethorik zu hören ist und gar nicht an Diplomtie gedacht wird, finde ich einfach nur erschreckend.
I like how, for all its optimism, the original is both a bit more darker ("I sing my song out of fear of darkness") and more self-conscious, that is, less naive ("I know my songs won't change much, I'm only a girl who sings how she feels") - that does for a more deep and poignant song: it's not about "just be hopeful, it will work" kind of empty optimism, but about finding inner resilience in the face of all the incoming storms of life. I do miss the beautiful "we are feathers on the breeze" line of the English version though.
