Semiconductor is the most important thing for us now because if China attacks Taiwan ,the semiconductor supply chain will be most affected and development will be hampered as most of technology depends on semiconductors.

The day we can make our semi conductors, engines and fuels we are the on the top of World.
The Supply Chain Ecosystem is one of the challenges that India faces.
Nothing has materialized since 2021 since the Government advertised on the incentives.
Ex: Vendanta - Foxconn Fall out. 19 billion.
The wafer fab plants setup also in India has still not materialized .
This because the Factory cost anywhere between 1 - 10 billion Dollars - again - supply chain , logistics and still the bureaucratic process is the root cause
Right now - there are only assembly plants that assembles the finished products.
If we can address these we are on track - this is going to take a decade or 2 to get there.
Everyone elinvoled knows it will take 10 odd years to build the system and 10 others to build the market. The amount money involved means someone who can afford that risk for 20odd years will have to be in play.
India is one of the leading semiconductors design Hubs around the globe and major outsourcing hub too top of that we can't able to materialize the ecosystem micron recently started training for Indian graduates and they are rolling out fabs later this year semiconductors requires lot of research and with the cost of labs we can build 50 engineering colleges but for cheaper labour the companies itself started training for semicons manufacturing and recently Foxconn announced they are setting up semiconductors fabs with partnering HCl for design and they bought 37 million stake in HCl for jv they submitted application for GOI for setting up their Osat in either Telangana or Karnataka and Tata also announced they semiconductor industry in arunachal pradesh the future is promising india can enter into global manufacturing race within 7-10 years

Rahul Gandhi ji is the greatest leader the homo-sepian civilization has ever been graced with. We need more leaders like Rahul ji. This industry should have seen patronage about 30 years ago. Better late than never.
This government's vision is clear and they're taking steps to achieve that vision. An indigenous semiconductor industry is going to be a great boon for our national security as well. We won't have to depend on external entities during times of conflict. Sanctions won't impact us. The way we were sanctioned and not allowed access to GPS during Kargil war, we should never have to face such situation with semiconductor products.
Modern electronics and appliances use hundreds of chips and this initiative is going to bring all that manufacturing to India.
Only a handful of companies have cutting edge silicon fabs (foundries) and they're all in USA, Germany, Taiwan or Korea. This is too much of dependence on just a few countries to power every modern appliance that we use.

Disclaimer: Some haters ahead in comment section!!
In states like Kerala, almost every household has fridge, tv, mixie, smart phones, washing machines, microwave oven, water heater, laptops, tabs, PCs, cars, bikes, scooters and an innumerable number of electronic items which contain chips... these items become dysfunctional after a few years of purchase because of minor reasons... the branded companies which manufacture these products will often have a lackluster attitude to repair them and instead they will push the house owner to buy their new products since these old ones have crossed their warranty period.. So the owners will ultimately give away these products to some scrape collector shops and they will take the valuable chips contained in them and I don't know for what purpose these chips are being used for.
So my humble suggestion is do not let these reusable old chips go waste... some committees like Kudumbasrees should be formed and equip technically capable people to collect the chips from the one-time used electronic products from our households and make it available for our fledgling semiconductor manufacturing industry.
Well, I personally thought that the chips should be used IN COMPUTERS, in cases where a low end computer will do.
