When he said I'll pick them off 1 by 1 and save you for last.... Hypothetically of course for management messing up hours... My blue collar heart felt that
They messed up my payroll one time and kept saying they'd fix it, then the next day they would say sorry it didn't get fixed we'll do it tomorrow. Then payroll stopped answering my calls. My phone got cut off because the final day they said it would be on my account it wasn't and I completely flipped my sh*t until the manager gave me my money in cash from the safe lol. Payroll wouldn't answer the phone and they didn't want to lose me. Not my most graceful moment but a guy's gotta pay bills and eat. My rule is I don't work for free ever.
Not only do you gotta pay bills and eat. That work was owed payment as compensation, the most basic part of agreeing to work somewhere. Wage theft is a real issue and costs working folks across the country billions per year when totalled up. Just so some guys can be self important tools and do shit like play rocket ship.
A relative of mine never made a scene, but her lawyer got her the payment that she should have been given. I don't even know if it was worth the lawyer fees, but some companies are willing to do it because they have staff lawyers.
We have a beautiful little thing in my state where if you are really passed, you can go make a wage claim, which in this state triggers a attorney General complaint to the company after they talk to you and investigate. Had to do that once and was actually surprised that was the once sliver of government that still functioned.
I can tell you don’t like causing trouble by being apologetic over something you have full right to. Grace isn’t a job requirement, is it? Well, paying your employees is a requirement.
One time working construction, the owner got a brand new dodge 3500. All the bells and whiatles. It was beautiful. Anyway, payroll didnt come through, so we stole his truck and threatened to part it out if he didn't pay everyone immediately. Wouldnt you know it, money showed up and payroll was never missed again.
Many years ago in a failing private ambulance service. Nobody got paid because “there was no money left in the payroll account at the bank”…we all marched up to the boss’s office a threatened to throw him out the 2nd story window. He cut us all personal checks immediately…2 weeks or so later, the company changed hands and was under a new name and management entirely.
For what this was, it was totally awesome. If this small speech does not end up in some kind of movie I'll be disappointed. Very well performed, and written.
I had a job pull this they didnt pay me for the previous pay period. I went in the following week clocked and just sat at my desk watching youtube on my phone. When asked what i thought i was doing i explained it was simple. Untill my pay was in my account i would come in clock in and sit at my desk doing nothing. When they tried to fire me i just held up my phone with my lawyer on the line stating thank you for making my cass so easy. In court they tried to argue that i was fired for cause despite the recoding my lawyer had. Best part i got a "vacation" of 6 months and had another job within the first week of the case.
you know. you can try and sound scary with the thinks you'll do, but nothing is more terrifying than the things we do to ourselves. all you need to do, is leave him alone.
Hell yeah i accept cash brother. Gotta keep them straight. You would make a good narrator reading horror stories bud. I'd listen to you tell stories about what ever. You have a way to keep us following along with the story all the way through. Great job
I'm not positive but I have a hunch this is not the first time there's been a discrepency on his hours or his check. He's been pondering an answer to that hypothetical for awhile.
There are other places than Florida? Shit I just spawned here and assumed Fallout was based on real life Need more gators though the death claws don't do em justice
I'm rubbing my hands together like birdman fantasizing about this. I'm sorry but you got me goin' I must say sir your writing is impeccable for this hypothetical situation.
Had a friend that didn’t get paid for 5 weeks... he was about to stop going to work, but then the big boss went to correct it himself and everything has been fine since then... I think
“This evil world never made a fighter outa you” I really like that one 👌🏻 might have to steal that shit. I’ll never quote you specifically sadly but I’ll think about you as I say it at least
When an employer shorted my check one time and I went to him about it he said they could not add it to that week's check but would add it to the next weeks as the OT is was and if I needed to cash now he would front me the amount from his wallet. All good. Mistakes happen and its fine as long as its taken care of properly.
i was about to say that's one of the few things work forces haven't done to me, but then i think back to suppressed memories. it wasn't hours per say, just the bonuses that were meant to make up for the low wages. got nullified left and right. that was years ago, but i must be honest. i'm still pissed off about it.
Hey bro. Been binge watching your videos since i discovered them a few days ago...hilarious. Thee Joker: "My father was a drinker and a fiend." LOL. But...I think the skits work better with "Steve" unseen and off camera. Like you're forcing the audience to use their imagination, plus focusing on your facial expressions and reaction to Steve talking. Thx.
Had a manager fail to give me the right schedule then demand I accept punishment. I told her no cause she gave me the wrong schedule so I am not the one at fault.
9 times out of 10 this is HR mistake but manager gets all the backlash. I remember hiring employees but HR wouldn’t put them in the system. They we’re working for 3 weeks before their 1st paycheck as it was and hr wouldn’t have them in the system. Poor guys and poor managers. Hr didn’t care. Just my 2 cents. I have been on both sides it always sucks
Tried and true technique, walk off, and relax. When they realize they can't get coverage for those hours, and how much money their mistake costs, they'll fix it. Then they'll try to talk you into coming back. However the manufacturing industry, they have policy around those time cards, it kinda fucks themselves over and you. I actually hate that method of time keeping. Team time or Kronos timestamp work better.
When he said I'll pick them off 1 by 1 and save you for last....

I never got my holiday pay from 4th of July. So now if my bank is closed I'll be taking the day off.

Hey! That happened to us, too!
That's clever, because a fall from that height probably wouldn't kill him, but it would break him. He would need your ambulance, lol!

Hey, managers! Some of us are disturbingly close to this very type of retribution!

lmao loved this skit
Getting paid for 40 when you worked 90 is getting paid barely more than a third of what you should get from overtime

I got caught sleeping with an employee once and I'm self-employed
Happened once, payroll agreed to fix it the following week, I didn't leave till I got a check cut right then and there.
