  • Well-known comedian, Chonda Pierce shares transparently from her life, raising her children with her husband, David as the stay-at-home parent, while she traveled a great deal, making people laugh all across the country. When the kids graduated and left for college, her husband, David found himself alone at home and started drinking and then couldn't stop.
    Chonda also shares tragedies from her past--the death of two sisters and childhood abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, who was also a minister, but mentally unstable. Listeners are encouraged to call our counselors for prayer, wisdom and advice during times of depression and loss and when dealing with alcohol addiction.

    I found her on Huckabee. Im in love with this woman, figuratively. Not bad looking though. She just has me in tears from her time in church (it reminds me of mines) to everything shes going through but staying strong. Im a black man who is conservative and love every minute of her words. Im different, im a straight black man, married for 26 years, two kids by the same girl, and I believe in my faith.

    I love Chonda Pierce. I was so surprised to learn of her heartaches. Even more mysterious is how she can be so funny! I came to Christ because a neighbor named Mrs. Lamb invited me to go to church with her at age of eleven. I've always said a Lamb took me to The Lamb. Then the whole family became worshipers. But we weren't funny! I tend to be a little envious of that.

    The Bible is not a fairy tale, but a book of the stories of real people with real problems, the only Perfect one in all the Bible is Jesus! ~~~ Can I quote Chonda on that? What a mature and spiritually rich faith you share! Thank you.

      Thank you for sharing so openly, Starr. We're very sorry to hear about the pain you're experiencing because of childhood trauma. As part of our ministry here at Focus on the Family, we have a staff of pastoral counselors available to offer reassurance, answer questions, and pray with you. We’d like to invite you to call one of them at your convenience. Just call 800-232-6459 between 6:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. (MT), Mon - Fri. The Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone will arrange for a pastoral counselor to call you back. There’s no cost for this -- we just want to come alongside you in any way we can. In the meantime, please know you're in our prayers. Specifically, we'll be asking the Lord to bring healing and peace. May His blessings attend you in all your ways, and may you know what it is to live under the shadow of His wing.

    At the end, she says they shared family information with the kids... This is important. Kids without goals and responsibilities will miss the deep family roots and life skills needed for life. We think kids are kids until 26 now! The pony express was using 12 year olds to ride through hostile territory!
    We need to teach them how to find the ‘Why’ to their questions.

    God bless Chonda Pierce. She is quite funny. I think even we as Christians get things mixed up. Even though Chonda was given the gift of humour, her family wasn't working according to God's will. Her husband should have been providing for the family and she be staying at home looking after the kids even though she did have a gift of humour and probably was making more money. Maybe her husband felt inadequate after the kids grew up. Men are meant to provide, protect and lead the family. The wives are to take care of the family and home. This is why her daughter doesn't want anything to do with her because she wasn't there for the children growing up and her daughter is probably angry at her. Don't mean to criticize, we all are sinful but this is God's way. I don't care how much money a woman makes, her husband is to provide, protect and lead and the wive is to be the nurturer of the family and home. That is God's way in how he made male and female and that is what works best for families and society as a whole.

    • @rebornsnuzzles2573
      @rebornsnuzzles2573 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don't read the Bible much, I guess? Or you don't pay attention? "Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.” Judges 4.
      She's just one of many.

    • @gloriasihlis7679

      @@rebornsnuzzles2573 I believe in Biblical Womanhood. Men are to be the leaders, providers and protectors of the home as what the Bible says and women are to look after their husbands, children and homes. Titus 2:3-5. Women were created for man not man for woman. Women are to be helpmeets to their husbands. In God's Holy Word it also mentions women can't be Pastors even though feminism has creeped up into some churches and allows this. An overseer is the husband of one wife. As Jesus is to submit to God and the church is to submit to Christ Women are to submit to their husbands. Sorry, life works best according to God's Word and that's men to be providers, protectors and leaders of the home and the women nujrturers of the family and home. Men were wired to work and provide for their families. If this is taken away from them, they feel they have no purpose and that's what's happening in our society. Feminism has destroyed a lot of men, a lot of marriages and a lot of families. If we go back to what God's Word says for how husbands/wives should run their lives our world would be a much better place.

    • @rebornsnuzzles2573
      @rebornsnuzzles2573 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gloriasihlis7679 That's not Biblical at all. That's CULTURAL. The Bible again and again gives examples of women who serve in a variety of capacities and roles, women who are praised and highlighted and elevated for resistance and resilience. Esther, a Queen. Phoebe, a deacon. Thecla, who refused to be married and instead became an apostle. Unfortunately a lot of people confuse what the Bible says with what the church teaches. I hold a Master of Divinity and am a Minister in the Presbyterian Church.

    • @rebornsnuzzles2573
      @rebornsnuzzles2573 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gloriasihlis7679 And the Epistles say that men are to give themselves to their wives in the same way that women are to give themselves to their husbands. The Epistles also say that there is neither male nor female; slave or free because all are ONE (equal) in Christ. God didn't intend for any of us to live in bondage. If you've decided for yourself that you want to live in bondage anyway, that's up to you. What you do NOT get to do is judge other people by your misguided beliefs. The Bible talks plenty about that too.

      While her husband did provide since he was a high school teacher (literature if I remember correctly), it's just that she provided more.
      But, like she said at the end of the clip (not her words but the bottom line of what she said), family and children come first. She hopes that other women learn from her mistake and while she could have been on the road, she should have been on the road less than she was. A limited number of days in a month or limited months in a year.
      I have also seen (on TH-cam) Christian fathers who are performers limit the time they are on the road so they can be with their family and help their wives.
      After having seen other clips of Chonda from TH-cam, the drinking problem began about the same time as their daughter was estranged. Here I hear something else, so I can only suppose that the both of them happened about the same time.
      And yes, the husband should be the provider and the wife the helpmate.

    Wait...did she say her father was a preacher and manic depressive?? or did I hear that wrong? Yes ppl had problems throughout the Bible...but then the Resurrection changed everything!! So why do many ppl ignore that glorious part?? I'm just wondering why some never learn the truth. And the Healings and even raising the dead! I think maybe ppl read their Bible and get parts and stop...never getting the full message...seems they put worldly things before God. And we have Free will but everybody wants to blame God.

      Manic depression is a diagnosed medical/mental disorder that requires serious treatment for those who need help. Anyone can struggle with it, even Pastor’s and religious leaders.
