- We are back with another Rise of Flight video this time we join up with the British pilots flying across the channel to attack shipping to block the harbour mouth. For this mission we have the wonderful Felixstowe F2.a Flight boat and bomber.

Love missions like this. The more obscure the aircraft, the better. Any chance of seeing Italian single seat flying boat fighters like the Macchi M.5 vs. Austrian floatplane fighters?
Sadly Rise of Flight doesn't have any italian planes to my knowledge. But I hope that Flying Circus (the IL-2 Great Battles engine version of this game) will include an even wider variety of planes.
@@5peciesunkn0wn Unlikely. IL-2 v3 (Great Battles) has been focussing on a few flyable planes, though pretty representative in width.
IL-2 v1 (combined into IL-2 1946) had a wide variety of planes, including a number of “speculative” ones … like Heinkel’s circular wing VTOLs and their guided AA missiles.
@@advorak8529 Flying Circus is it's own thing. It just uses the same physics engine and servers as IL-2 GB. So yes, you can dogfight an Me262 in a Sopwith Camel.

a) I know
b) if it is its own thing, that dogfight is not possible. FC only adds a few planes and maps.
c) none of that negates the claim that IL-2 v3 is few planes (or tanks, for that matter) that are well modelled, rather than many planes that are rougher around the edges. I do not see them changing that model any time soon as it has served them well.

Never knew this beauty was playable, and few others are saying the exact same thing. This is a real good looking aircraft so I can see why your show casing it. The empennage on the Felixstowe is ridiculous. You might as well not have a dorsal gunner with that much obstruction.
Love the big planes, the bombers, and the airships (which were of course no longer viable against fighters with incendiary ammunition, but still good for North Sea patrols and scouting …)
If there is a simulation where you can command an airship, with all the lift and weight balancing properly modelled, I would like to know …

Just bought this with modifications which the dlc has not obviously with the channel map also the red barron plane with modifications £5 lot cheaper then steam dlc £20.
Does anyone know if this aircraft’s fuselage was modelled on French battleship design, or was it the other way around?😉
If you get Flying circus 1,2 & 3; is there a point to then getting Rise of Flight too or are all the same aircraft etc available in the FC series?

ACK ACK was WW2 ....Archie was WW1
Ack is for A in the phonetic alpabet used by the RFC/RAF in WWI, so Ack Ack for anti-aircraft fire is correct. Archie was more of a slang term used by aircrew.
Really good taff I enjoy the fighter careers but this is a really welcome change of pace. Just the most pathetically pedantic point ever. It's the RAF not RFC in those 🐫 by sept 18

This is another First World War air sea battle simulation.
I also haven't shown you what my idea of a tandem engine helicopter is. It's one engine up top, and the other is on the bottom. It's just like the German Nazi Dornier DO335 Arrow A. It's a strong reference to it. 🏹

If you're taking votes, then I vote for more cowbe....I mean Rise of Flight. I still feel that RoF is the definitive WWI flying sim. Just completed the collection of aircraft this past Christmas, to include this boat.
arghh why germans always miss a huge slow floating plane? In real live these bombers did not survive 2-3 fighters without friendly fighters coverage. nonsense

I lived in Felixstowe for 20 years and knew a bit of it's history, but never realised there was a plane with the same name.

Well done...certainly gave jerry a good pranging. The diff between a damaged Float plane vs. a Boat plane is the crew can fix the bullet holes on the Boat plane. That first Hun is going to sink on landing! Excellent Cin and Demo. Timely video; As the British in HOI4, I'm going to visit the Kriegsmarine September '39 with a mixed force of Wellingtons and Sunderlands, because the Square heads won't come out to play. Hope nothing goes wrong. ;-)
