  • A Stolen Takeuchi TB23R is live tracked rand found on the 4th October 2017
    The Automatrics 24/7 alarm monitoring operators received a motion alert from a customer’s Takeuchi TB23R excavator at 20.30 on the Wednesday night.
    The client was contacted and confirmed that his 2.3 ton excavator had been stolen from Stratford-upon-Avon. He reported the theft to Warwickshire Police whilst we live tracked the digger theft movements in progress for two hours.
    As no accurate GPS was possible an Automatrics finder team were immediately deployed to a cell site in Dudley to track the units radio signal. The finder team arrived at 2 AM Thursday morning and the machine was located at 5 AM parked in a private yard behind a locked fence in Dudley.
    West Midlands Police were contacted to attend site to question the land owner and arrange the recovery of the undamaged digger.
    We later supplied movement reports to DC Julian Crabb at PANIU and the West Midlands Police, as it is hoped that CCTV footage can be checked to further help the police with their inquiries.

    You would have more success if you inserted the trackers extremely deep up inside a pikey! With that single tracker you could recover hundreds of different bits of kit, whenever there is any movement detected you would have detected a theft.

    The police should be looking to carry out arrests... once the tracker has located the digger, the police should set up surveillance and when someone comes back to the digger and starts it up... Boom!! I'd want an arrest and prosecution to the fullest!

      As has been stated, one the police are spotted snooping around they simply abandon the item.

    • @ohauss
      @ohauss 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because of course the company owning the digger has nothing better to do than twiddling thumbs for days on end until the police finally gives up because the perps abandoned the item?
      There's a reason there's a tracker on that thing - if it gets stolen, the owner wants it back in operation ASAP. Time is money.

      No not every day. We only need to send out radio finders on certain recoveries that require an accurate location confirmation for the police or customer. Normally when GPS is jumping about or stolen goods hidden inside buildings, shipping containers or if the bandits are using a GPS jammer

    • @alanbrown397
      @alanbrown397 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GPS jammers are a criminal matter - two years jail and unlimited fines - www.ofcom.org.uk/spectrum/interference-enforcement/spectrum-offences/jammers - you could do worse than having a chat with Ofcom about this to find out what's needed to make sure the police are more aware of the issue (and usually indicative of organised crime, so finding evidence of one really should be pushing the locals to push this to SOCA or at least turn up armed, just in case)
      Getting a jammer detector (like your existing RDF antenna but for GPS frequencies) might be a useful addition to the arsenal. Something like www.navtechgps.com/ctl3520_handheld_directional_gps_jammer_detector_and_locator/

    Gosh I like this. The only thing I don't like is not seeing these guys in old Baily. Of course one can't determine exactly who took the machine, without either seeing him, or in a place only one guy has the keys to. Of course they lock it. If they spot the tracker guy, or his antenna, they could boost the machine out the way he didn't go, so it would be off his property. It actually makes logical sense why they would lock their stuff up, they are thieves so they know how to keep stuff safe. Just because it looks like a nice place, the whole thing might be a mask.
