- The Irish Guy takes a look at every Premier League club's one player who he predicted to flop at the start of the season, including the likes of Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, Arsenal forward Kai Havertz and Newcastle star Tino Livramento.

Kai havertz proved everyone wrong including me. As an arsenal fan he has been pivotal for us , I think his best attribute is his off the ball workrate and runs into the box. The guy is genuinely class.
I always thought Havertz was much better than the Chelsea system was alllowing him to be, what with him being the only actual goal threat half the time, but even then, he's been better than I expected at Arsenal.
It's soo strange how under soo many different managers the Chelsea system seems to strangle forwards and stop them reaching potential, the Drogba curse

Nkunku was such an easy pick for Chelsea because he was injured before the season began so it would’ve been difficult for him to play regularly enough to score 10 goals
Yep Roy didn't give França a chance, he's been injured under Glasner, but he won't be going on loan to Portugal next season.
Also as a Palace fan I didn’t really have the expectation he was going to be in the squad this year anyway considering Eze, Olise, and Ayew. He’s there for when Eze and Olise get poached in a year

Flekken had a slow'ish start to be sure, but to call him a flop when the backline was rarely ever consistent (due to injuries going around) ... not as instant a safe pair of gloves as you'd might would've wanted, but given the circumstances and specially getting a better understanding of the team in the second half of the season, only slightly below average expectations, which is probably fair in a very difficult set of circumstances
Chermiti was signed quite literally to be the third choice striker. He's been playing with the youth teams and slowly getting into the squad.

The thing is it isn’t. Højlund hasn’t been a flop, as a young player at united in his first season (as a striker in this shitty united side) scoring 13+ goals this season is absolutely great. Not even close to a flop

Zaniolo had been improving all season and when he’s been needed he’s stepped up and made an impact. Calling him a flop just because he isn’t a regular starter is harsh
As a Villa fan, he is definitely a flop. Has scored two key goals neither particularly great and for some reason has been played ahead of others on multiple occasions. He has quite easily been our worst player this season
Your not fully wrong about zaniolo he’s scored some important goals but I can’t way to see him go

I can't exactly explain Zaniola. He has had his moments but hasn't been a successful signing but is on loan, and I don't think we'll sign him for next season
Flekken has been class. He had a shaky start but geniuinely has been keeping really fuckin well this season. A lot of our loses have been defensive issues rather than keeper issues

Can chime in, Franca, when he played showed his potential. But yes, he has been hurt and done for the season pretty much since Glasner has arrived.

Can hardly say that Havertz was "fantastic" when he was shite for the entire season up until February, finally starting getting goals when he was forced into CF (whilst being surrounding by some of the best players in the league), and got most of his goal contributions (12/20) against teams like Luton, Burnley, Brentford, Sheffield United, Brighton and Bournemouth. His only truly good performances were against Newcastle (with Karius in goal ffs) and Chelsea (who had 14 first team injuries at the time and was playing fucking Alfie Gilchrist at RB).
He's getting back into some good form and having a purple patch, but let's not pretend like he wasn't dogshit for 5 months and had some kind of amazing season.
Doku's assession is quite unfair. His style of play has given Man City 6 or 7 penalties, don't remember exactly how many. That's basically an extra 6 or 7 goals when you have Haaland on the team because of him.
my rule of thumb for making predictions is every player transfering out of Chelsea will be class but if they transfer in they will be flop
as a villa fan, i would say he took a while to start up and hes had some bad moments like the wall against city, to me jury's still out but i would lean to not being a flop

As an Arsenal fan, Havertz went missing in A LOT of matches for us earlier in the season, but you are correct to point out he has been brilliant lately. He needed time to settle. We still need a proper striker, but Havertz' goals have been vital. It's also vital to note the presence of Odegaard, Rice and Trossard, who have also been excellent lately, as well as the return of Partey - he is not my favourite player but he and Rice have formed a solid midfield base. Saying that, I hope Jorginho stays, since he is a different type of player and he likely helped Havertz to settle, both being ex-Chelsea.
As for Pires, he's a coach at Arsenal and was spotted many times before his retirement from playing at London Colney training with Arsenal players. He's a Club legend who has physically never let himself go.

Hojlund deserves some slack, absolutely 0 service from his wingers and when he actually gets it he scores. Has the best conversion rate in the league with the very little good chances he gets.

Very loose definition of flop. Im a Bees fan and Flekken is absolutely solid, he’s no David Raya but thats far from being a flop; if we had him in our first few years and stayed up you wouldn’t be thinking this
Endo? Diminutive? Man's 178cm and 77kg, a pretty perfect size for an agile enough and strong enough CDM. I'm so happy to be proven right about Endo, I wanted Arsenal to sign for him when he was still at Stuttgart and I'm happy to see him doing well at Liverpool.
If Hoijlund was playing for Man City with kdb behind him he would have almost as many goals as haaland does he just gets no service at United but is always in the right position but gets ignored by players like rashford antony etc who just like to cut in and shoot

Calling França a flop is unfair no crystal Palace fan thought he would be a regular in the team at best he was going to be a 4 choice winger with Eze, Olise, and Ayew ahead of him he was bought so when Olise and Eze get taken by bigger clubs we’ll have talent at the club that’s been training under them
from a villa fan zaniolo has overall been a flop. lad has zero discipline and has given the ball away very often earlier on in the season, but he has been decent in a few games past month or so. i doubt he will be signed permanently
Havertz has 1 goal and 1 assist more than jackson in 4 more games yet jackson is a flop and Havertz isnt....the way people are lowering the standards for this guy is crazy.
Havertz has played multiple positions while Jackson has mainly been a center forward

I don't think Flekken has been that much of a flop. The Netherlands still regards him as one of their best keepers.

Villa fan here. - I've maintained all the way through there is/was a talent there. It seemed as though he was struggling with life in Birmingham and wasn't really getting regular mins when he came. Having all the injuries we have had.. has allowed him more time to bed in.. but maybe too little too late? its in the last 2 or 3 games he has really shone. but is it enough? unfortunately for Zaniolo... probably not. A shame.. because he is a great talent that is starting to show.
Havertz has been no different to each of his seasons at Chelsea imo! Similar numbers as each of his Chelsea seasons and the same march purple patch he had every year at Chelsea.

Yeah I agree but i wouldnt be disappointed if we did sign him as most players can take atleast a season to settle into a new league and country, I think he'd grow into the player we would need him to be as some performances of late have shown, but I don't think we'll take the risk as there's been too many fixtures where he's just not turned up
