👍🤩Terrific review. Very helpful. Thank you. 💝
❓What is the folding lock and unlock for? The item located near the top of where the gimble twists & turns (item # 07 in the user manual). It doesn’t seem to “lock or unlock” anything.
❓How long does it take to fully charge the battery from empty to full?

      Good questions, thanks for these!
The folding lock option is used for safer transportation.

Hey there from Airdrie Canada! Great review as always, couple questions for you! Is the tracking feature ONLY face tracking or will it track your body as well if you turn sideways or back to the camera? What's the range it can still follow you at? For using with Osmo Action, do you need a camera plate, as you show yours just being stuck in it as is! How does the AI react with an action camera mounted, it seemed yours wasn't as quick to see your gestures when the action camera was on there. Thanks if you can answer those! I've been looking for a tracking solution with the Osmo Action

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It detects the face, therefore if it loses the face, it will likely interrupt the tracking.
In my case - it was up to 2 meters. And important not to have a too "busy" background.
I'd go with a plate, since the attaching method I used is rather unreliable.
Overall - I haven't seen a really good tracking option with action camera so far and this so far is among the best solutions, although not that great.

Hiiiii, THANK YOU for the review!
I am very very interested in buying this gimbal.. the only thing I'm wondering is how you think the long-term quality is.
in your opinion, ofc when given good care (no falling etc), does it seem like a gimbal that may break or malfunction within a few months or do you think this is an item that can accompany me for years to come?
I'm reading a lot of reviews that the gimbal starts to tremble, tilt uncontrolably, and click. Did you experience the same?
I have an android phone and gopro, and I'm looking for a gimbal that's not too big, but of good quality (ie may stay with me for a few years) -- i'd love to hear your suggestions on this
    Thanks!!

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  3 ปีที่แล้ว

We'll see about performance in the long-run. Isteady X was excellent about it.
The trembling has never happened to me, but if it does - it likely is a motor tuning.
There always is the safer option to choose DJI Osmo Mobile, and get yourself a conversion plate for action cameras. Would be a great combo and I use it quite often too.

    Hello everyone!
(ORIGINAL TEXT IN PORTUGUESE BRAZIL - TRANSLATED WITH GOOGLE TRANSLATOR)
Next, always in order to add more knowledge to everyone, I share some information about the results of tests I did using iSteady V2.
From my point of view, the equipment is really very good. However, in my tests, it had some problems.
    For the tests I performed, I used two smartphones: Redmi 7 (32Gb + 32Gb SD Card - Android Version 10 QKQ1.191008.001 - Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP/LE) and Redmi Note 9 (128Gb + 128Gb SD Card - Android 11 Version RP1A 200720.011 - Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP/LE).
After performing several tests, my considerations are as follows:
1 - Using the Hohem Pro app with the hand gestures function turned on:
The "tracking" commanded by hand gestures had problems in both smartphones. After commanding the start of recording a video (fingers in V), the recording was/is stopped immediately whenever I made/made a gesture with my hands; regardless of whether it was/is the flat hand gesture to end the recording or another normal gesture such as moving your hands to make any gesture (like the ones we do when talking or explaining something to people). In my view, this flaw completely invalidates the use of the hand gesture commands function through the use of the Hohem Pro app. Too bad!
2 - Using the Hohem Pro app to do "human face tracking":
The app "loses face tracking" very easily. Also, the range (range) of the "face tracking" observation/tracking field is too short; whether the smartphone is vertically or horizontally. The function also cannot handle movements that are a little more sudden/faster than usual (such as quickening your step, running or making sudden up/down, right/left movements). A feather!
The "object tracking" function, although a little more stable, has similar problems.
3 - Using the AI (Artificial Intelligence) camera:
It works as advertised by the manufacturer, but it should be noted that the START/END recording functions/gestures and the VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL repositioning (fingers to the right or up) functions are mutually exclusive. This means that if you are recording and make a gesture of turning the smartphone (to horizontal or vertical) the "tracking" is immediately canceled. Recording continues, but there is no more "tracking" until it is commanded again (manual "O.K." symbol).
The "tracking" of the AI camera differs from the "tracking" of the Hohem Pro app in that it does not "track" the face, but rather the modification of the environment that was/was present at the time the start of recording was commanded. As normally a person commands the beginning of the recording, the "tracking" of the AI camera is done (or "appears to be") following the movement of this person, but in reality, the tracking follows the change of the components of the environment at the beginning of the recording ( after the "OK" manual command). Personally, I found this form of "tracking" very cool; for me much better than face/face tracking
It's also important to note that hand controls with the AI camera don't always respond as they should; mainly the commands that turn the cell phone to the vertical and horizontal positions. I couldn't identify the reason for this. I don't know if it's luminosity, balancing or gimbal calibration. The fact is that cell phone rotation does not always work as it should. I found other people who complained about the same thing. It is noteworthy that I did not do any tests using the ISteady V2 remote control (I didn't buy it), nor using any device that allowed me to change the environment constantly (for example, following a cat or a dog ). However, I believe that AI camera tracking will work just fine. I have achieved identical results using the AI camera without apps or with any other recording/photo apps (eg my own smartphone apps or others like Filmic Pro - or Hohem Pro itself, used only as a simple recording app).
    ENDING:
I advise anyone interested in this equipment that, BEFORE BUYING!, check the specifications and requirements of the product for its perfect use on your smartphone. In particular, check your cellphone's Bluetooth version and ABOUT THE GROSS WEIGHT OF IT! ALL GIMBALS have restrictions on these aspects that must be respected. It's good to see the specs required for iSteady V2 on the Hohein website (see the bottom of the page at the link store.hohem.com/products/isteady-v2).
3 - Usando a câmera AI (Inteligência Artificial):

In a future version hopefully they will improve the AI detection in low-light and integrate the AI camera into a smaller unit.. that top bulge looks a bit too.. hummmmm plasticky chepo retro😂 And if they made a bigger and stronger version capable of carrying smaller cameras like the Sony ZV-1, that would be insane!!! Haha, now I know I'm not the only one that finds the black version a little awkward. Since it is so similar to the X-model from last year I don't get it why Hohem decided to change the beautiful design and the smooth texture of the X. But - whatever 😂
Maybe the low light tracking may eventually get updated with IR focusing or something. I'd mostly use it in daytime - and so far it does great.
The part with ZV1 was in fact the very first thing tried there. Sadly - the ZV1 is too heavy for it.
Have you found a good and small gimbal for ZV1? Not much of luck on my end...

    • @yuidfbse

Sure! The Zhiyun Crane-M2 is perfect for the ZV-1, RX100s and Canon G1X MkIII (that I own and have used with it) and surely with other similar smaller cameras. Nothing else on the market beats it since its release till now :)

    • @yuidfbse
      @yuidfbse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

PS - Dis you actually tested the iSteady V2 with the ZV-1? Too heavy or can't get balanced? Spec-wise, the stated maximum payload of the gimbal and the weight of the ZV-1 are "technically" just about 20 grams off. I was actually hoping it would work because as I commented earlier, a gimbal with tracking paired with the ZV-1 would be an absolutely killer setup!
