I thought it was a masterful documentary, so well done. For it to be narrated in his own voice, brilliant choice. The visuals were also amazing, there was something strangely haunting but beautiful about the video. I had seen Brando on the Dick Cavett show, I was in the audience. He seemed so shy and he had a slight lisp which I never noticed in his movies. When I went to the show he was the surprise guest, the audience didn’t know who was coming on. I had just started to appreciate his work before that so I was thrilled beyond belief to be there. This is one of my favorite documentaries.

I am the hypnotherapist who taught Marlon how to design and make self hypnosis tapes. I had no further contact with him after that one long afternoon at his house. It's gratifying to know he ran with it. He was curious about many things. Of course I respected his privacy, but since he is gone, I'm no longer practicing, and this fellow is publishing Marlons tapes, I can come out of the closet!

Hang in there Mr Riley.Maybe you'll grab that artistic torch. You know Mr Marlon Brando left that material for a reason.Keep fighting those myths. They were smart to chose you for this project.Cool that Scorsese and Tarantino both thought of One Eye Jacks as their favorite western.Respect.

Alec got it backwards. They would be asking Brando “what are you wearing?”

Forgive me, but this guy gives a false impression of how Brando thought. He didn't care a bit about his legacy, or the artistic merit of his films. He would rather talk about ANYTHING else. I don't even think he thought of himself as an actor. He used his fame and power to get close to the source of whatever he was interested in at the moment. If he read a book he liked, he called the author. When he got into playing bongo drums, he had Jack Costanza give him private lessons. He knew whoever he called would answer and he enjoyed doing that. He spent hour on the phone, but rarely talk movies or acting, even with actors. He would call Ed Begly jr. ("Bagel") to talk green lifestyle, carbon footprints, etc. His work was pretty far down the list. The causes he supported were a way to make up for the easy money of acting, and he wanted to do something of lasting value. I believe he died feeling like he failed as a father and a human. Hard to imagine Brando feeling insecure or inferior . He did feel that way . Plus he was shy. A lot of his behavior was an effort to keep people away. That vulnerability is a major part of his greatness. He was very emotional, effusive in love, a doting grandpa, but quick to anger . His personal life brought him pain and frustration. He loved chatting with ordinary people who didn't treat him like a celebrity. The fact he changed film acting forever didn't provide him any satisfaction. But he changed a great deal the last decade of his life. He mellowed , and seemed to be really enjoying life. He longer gave a shit. Balwin spiel at the end about his wanting Hollywood to love him again is just BS. Renewable energy sources , his dog's, his grandkids, his housekeeper and a few friends were the focus of his life. His greatest desire , I think, was to be a regular guy. Just one of the boys . Buy he was an aristocrat and therefore basically alone and lonely despite the world clamoring for a piece of him.

I’ve recently have watched some of Marlon Brando’s work and interviews on you tube . I found him to be a very interesting and complex man . I would have loved to have met him .

@@kristasmith6423 there is a 2 hour interview with Brando and Studs Terkel. Studs starts by asking the usual acting questions, but quickly gives up and they have a conversation about a broad range of subjects. Fascinating and really gives a sense of the man. It was taped during Brando's most cynical, depressive period however. Pretty serious
