the Fostoria American pattern was reproduced by Lancaster Colony in 1983 (who bought Fostoria and all their molds) and called the pattern American Whitehall. The way to tell the difference, when you look at the cubes of Fostoria American, they will be flawless, when looking at the American Whitehall, each cube will have like ripples in the glass.

  • @beverlyking7646

Check your seams on the Fostoria American. Fostoria has three seams on most pieces. The others, like Whitehall, only have two seams.

You would be so shocked at how bad our nearest GW is, but one day my husband and I were at the store before Christmas and I said I need nice wrapping paper and tissue paper and they had the best Target wrapping paper..heavy, lined to cut, gold trees on it, and beautiful tissue paper so I don't dismiss them completely. It saved me a trip, as the GW is in the same plaza . I loved that pottery. I hope you get $$$ for it. Thanks Jocylyn...you are a busy girl and you don't complain!

    • @lilfirebrandk

The prices have gone up because Goodwill is a greedy, for profit corporation. They are not a charity organization.

You are so right. But the problem is sometimes they look at listed price instead of sold price. The other problem is that eBay has 87 million users. GW and other thrift stores do not have 87 million people walking through their doors every day. Google Lens is the best and the worst thing that has happened to thrift shopping.

Yes! GW stores are fundraisers for their mission. They should be getting all they can for their goods just like any other enterprise. Their mission has nothing to do with providing clothing/hard goods to those of lesser means or providing inventory for resellers. Cracks me up when something is overpriced at GW because you can't get at least a 200% return on your investment!!!!

Definitely hard to decipher the Fostoria pattern. And people often call it cubist. But that's not cubist at all. Jeanette glass made the same pattern called Cube or cubist. Then there is Fostorias Americana and Indiana Glass Whitehalls. Cube or cubist came in only 2 colors (pink and depression green) and had very limited pieces. You can find the Jeanette sugar and creamer in milk glass but they were made by another company that I believe got Jeanettes mold. Aside from seams you can tell by the glass. Fostoria fire polishes their pieces so they are always smooth and sleek. Indiana glass pieces have a texture you can see on the glass from the lack of the fire polishing. This is, in my opinion, the best sign if you are unable to read seams or test for a glow as Fostoria has manganese that will glow pale yellow under a black light. Hope this tips help in the future!❤❤ I just did a whole study on this for my instagram page where I have all this posted if anyone wants fancy slides with photos to reference later!! Let me know!!😊😊❤❤

"pottery is where it's at" I love the pottery pieces, they should do well. I like that you move ahead and trust your own feeling on something. Joselyn's intuition!

You can soak the glass plates in vinegar to get them looking better.

Love the vases! I would be the one to pay up and keep them. I have two small ones but not sure the value or maker. Just love them

Use a hair dryer to soften the glue on the stickers so they will come off cleanly

The sugar and creamer with the roses is “Rooster and Roses” pattern was very popular in the Midwest some pieces in good condition can be a good price. If you go back and they are still there, I would buy them from you

I collect the brown with green drip stoneware. The bean pot is worth quite a bit of money.

The cobalt blue lidded container looks like it is a tobacco humidor. The 3 notches on the top are for a metal piece to fit in and when twisted it securely holds the lid to the base.
