Patrick Cowley was a pioneering American musician and producer, best known for his innovative work in electronic music and his significant contributions to the disco and Hi-NRG genres. Born in Buffalo, New York, in 1950, Cowley moved to San Francisco, where he became a key figure in the city's vibrant underground scene. He collaborated extensively with disco icon Sylvester, producing some of the most iconic dance tracks of the era, including the hit "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)."
Cowley was a trailblazer in synthesizer-based music, using cutting-edge technology to create a futuristic sound that influenced not just disco but also early electronic and house music. Tragically, his life was cut short in 1982 at the age of 32 due to complications from AIDS. Despite his brief career, Cowley's work remains a cornerstone of electronic dance music, and his legacy continues to inspire artists and DJs today.
