We just got a rescue great dane. He's 11 months, but he is constantly biting /mouthing. And he's soon big and powerful. I can't get him to stop. He's not aggressive but he doesn't know how to control his power. It is scary. I've trained therapy dogs, even a routine, but this dude is even more! He was 4 hours away from death at a kill shelter. He's sweet just a puppy and strong.

I have a 2 month old female dane. She is constantly biting my kids and me. This is my 3rd day and she drew blood this morning. I have a baby gate blocking living room/ bedroom with carpets. I go past the gate and into the other room to let her know to stop. I did this about 10 times and she started to get it. Will be a long journey ahead of us.

I just got a Great Dane puppy as an early Christmas gift. I had a Great Dane as a child and I wanted another. But I have a 14 year old son that fights me tooth and nail. I say don’t give him that food he’s a pup and the shits are nasty…” don’t play with him like that you’re making me take 2 steps forward and 9 steps back…after some treats I was up for 2 hours cleaning up shit. And when I say don’t feed him new shit cause I’m not cleaning up that shit again. I was still the problem. …please pray.

I appreciate your structured teaching style. We have a 3 mnth old Great Dane named Bo. We need to get his nipping/biting under control. This is my 1st review of the training for biting and were excited to get the training started. We are off for a long walk for starters but we will keep the group apprised of our progress with Bo.

We've had some success with our 10m old great dane not biting people, but struggling with him biting our older lab. He does it in play but still to the point of making the lab yelp. He stops when we are around but continues if we aren't

My 13 week old Great Dane puppy will just suddenly start barking & biting me not even during play, if I move away he follows me & bites me more, ignores all verbal corrections. At my wits end. He’s doing everything else brilliantly, what do I do? I’m always praising him when he’s doing the right thing but then he’ll just turn on me. Desperate for help!

Very helpful and informative- my rescued boy just needs to know what rules are as he was ignored a lot I think by previous owners. He’s getting happier every day too so I’m sure he will pick up on this guidance. Many thanks

My breeder told me to hold their snout and pin them down until they cry... but it appears it’s making her aggressive? Help!! She’s only 13 weeks and we love her! She’ll growl and snap at us now when she frustrated then we are back at square one. Holding her down and holding her mouth closed while sternly saying no. Her behavior seems to be getting worse.

So My puppy is now 7 months old. She is getting very strong. I try the correction voice correction, stopping any contact and turning around, all of those things. But the thing is, my situation doesn't happen like the explanations. For example, I had her out for a walk and we're back in the driveway coming home. All of a sudden she jumps up and tries to grab my arm. I give her a verbal correction and she responds by getting behind me and grabbing my calf so hard I can't take it and I try to walk away, but she holds on and jumps up to grab my back, then my hands when I try to push her away, even up to my face. I know she's trying to play but I have cuts and bruises everywhere. What do you do when you can't stop their biting because they're hurting you and just keep coming?? Thank you for your response.

This is EXACTLY my dog as well. She’s 6 months old. All these videos and internet forums just acting like the dog stops the second you start ignoring them but, no, she NEVER stops. We can hand her another toy/bone to bite, she ignores it and keeps biting. We can take her on 30-40 minute walks, 5 minutes after getting home she’s back up biting. And I have 4 young children she’s constantly tormenting. We’re about to have to re-home. She’s simply insane and none of these “tips” work.

New Great Dane owner. He's 18 weeks. What do you deem as biting you want to correct over playful fun biting? Or is there no distinction between? I love to play with my dogs and understand that some biting may happen. My Lab/Chow/Collie understands between me playing with her over my daughter so she plays with my daughter easier than myself.

My great dane bites as we’re running roomies out outside on a lead. She’s ruined my clothes and bit me to the point of bleeding. I’ve tried every correction and given her the right things to chew. Only 3 months.

    My better.
Half, and I just got a Great Dane with a rottweiler. She's a doll but she's already coming in to her own jeans in 1 day. Learn to bark and grow mind you. I'm not holding out against her cause. She came from a farm.Where his eggs and quiet to a city with lots of children on Halloween with which is freaking hurt.So I understand but I do not like that that she is growling in barking how do I stop her from doing this ?

I do the alpha correction as soon as he bites. Pull the lips into the teeth and do a squeeze (do NOT hurt your puppy!) with a no biting rage sound. Then I immediately give him a bite toy and say bite toy in a nice voice. And he bites his toy. He learned VERY quickly not to bite people. He now gnaws his toys only.
Our puppy has drawn blood on us and I will not tolerate that! You must be aggressive and kind to teach. You must be alpha. And decisive.
I tried the walk away approach in the beginning and it only made it worse because he is cool with being alone.
He has also come at me aggressively when trying to get him to stop biting, but I took charge and I have to say.... He has become a wonderful puppy at the young age of four months old!!! He knows NOT to test me. And in no way, shape or form have I ever hurt him. It's all in the mind.
Throw your puppy down if you know how. Not a wrestling match, but.... Safely. It's a tool to take control of his mind. By doing this, he will always believe as he gets to be too big that you have that capability. He won't know if you do or don't because you always have when he was young and you imprinted it in his mind. As he lies there, calmly pet him. Or her.
And for further correction, if you're okay with licking ( and I am)... I say give kisses. And I would give my puppy kisses. So now, when he has that excess energy and feels the need to bite, he releases that tension by giving kisses. And it's rewarding because he now has a loving family.
It's basically like being a dog teaching a dog. Don't be afraid to act like one to teach one.

have a dane puppy who's way more of a biter than my last dane puppy was, it's really diminishing now (she's 17 wks) that she's getting older. it seems like the more exercised she is though the more she bites? its really not a problem all day long, usually its late in the evening,... after 3 walks and training sessions lol. I also let her bounce around more than I should I am sure. She just gets very overstimulated still and won't pass out unless I put her into her crate. I've definitely seen improvement as our relationship has improved, and she listens to my verbal correction. she has at least developed bite inhibition so I am not overly concerned but I don't like it.
is it normal she still gets so overstimulated? im not used to having a Great Dane that doesn't poop out and pass out lol. im really hoping this is something she will grow out of but I dont know how to address it other than making her sleep in the crate. she's clearly tired bc she will pass out in 30 seconds.

This is the exact same thing that happens with my 22 week Great Dane. Everything you said is just what he does with the addition of him doing it when he’s overtired. It also seems like he goes more for my mom then anyone else. I feels like it’s never ending lol and the only way to stop it is the crate like you said

I followed this video’s techniques with my Daniff pup and it was working. This past week she started to ignore me and has shown slight aggression when I am trying to correct her. I’m persisting with the training. It usually starts when she is getting rough and biting the kids and then I intervene and she tries to nip me and refuses to sit. She drew blood yesterday and I end up having to put her in the pen to seperate her from the kids due to her not listening. This isn’t going to work as she gets bigger. I couldn’t get her into puppy school here cause they were fully booked out and the next round of classes she won’t be eligible for as she will be too old. What do you do if they persist with the biting?

I've been using this technique for the past week, on my 9wk old. He is starting to understand, but he forgets very easily. I'm sure its due to his age. I have to "tap" him on the nose, to get his attention. When I stop playing and give a stern NO, he steps back and starts barking at me. I'm sure he will be better in a couple more weeks.

I’m a train wreck. I have a 9 month old Dane. He’s 125 pounds. He thinks I’m his girlfriend. He only bites me. He possessively bites me. Not to be gross but he only does it to me. Not my son, not my fiance and not my daughter. He wraps his front paw around my leg and he tries to bite my shirt, my arm or my body and when he does it he gets a little wee wee. It’s like he’s trying to dominate me. I’ve tried everything. This behavior is fairly new. A few weeks old. I work with him everyday. I spend the most time with him. But at this point I can’t take it anymore. I adore him. But it’s starting to scare me now. I don’t show him fear. But I’m also disabled and if he knocks me over I’m afraid he will clobber me. What do I do?

My Dane x boxer 2y big boy is outside playing, I have to bring him inside but putting it off for this video so he & I might not have a repeat incident like the past few days pushing his weight around until today he got scary biting for his lead walking him towards the house & I had absolutely no authority except for my crazy lady safety protection where I start turning and speaking very very deliberately confident powerful loud pretend conversation to an imaginary person just because it appeals to his curiosity. But today he wasn't buying it, he kept launching up into the sky and barking at me, he wasn't triggered by anything I can pinpoint same routine but trying a different way can only be playing into the curiosity stickybeack who I hope will be to interested in a few changes to be the same ratbag again...

your must not have kids or any other animal. teething and exercise do not belong together. All one has to do give that dog all different types of toys sticks whatever a variety of things they are allowed to chew on. a puppy that nis teething is also growing. don’t over do it, my goodness, everything in life doesn’t have to be humanised .. even kids when they are teething, they have a fever they are grouchy and they will be bigger after that period. teething comes in phases, also with dogs
