That is 100% exactly what I felt when I was raising my sparrow. I was unable to go out with my friends for almost a year becaus I was afraid that my bird would starve to death. Thank god I had my roommate that would feed it when I was working. It’s not an easy task to raise a baby bird you guys.
I have a 4 day old sparrow now and I have the same fear. I went grocery shopping while she was home and I could barely keep myself together. 😖

Soak cat food in water and give it a tiny little piece every 20-30 minutes.
Or whenever it chirps for food.
@@marsk7555 what D. Said. Feed it watered down cat food. And keep it warm. Put it on a shoe box with some paper towels. Do not use clothed towels or hand towels because the bird can get caught on the threads. Also, the bird will naturally get to the highest point of wherever nest it lays on to poop out, so put something underneath his nest to catch the poop. I put mine on a big coffe bowl, and I placed paper towels below the bowl to make it easy to clean afterwards.

Frank is an imbecile. It's literally a baby bird. The only thing he is good for is deep frying.
I saved and cared for two baby sparrows. It was one of the most demanding but rewarding undertakings I have ever experienced. The day one of them opened her eyes and looked at me for the very first time, was one of the most moving experiences of my life.We formed a special bond, and when I released them, they continued to return to me several times a day. They would wait for me to come out of the house every morning, and they said goodnight to me every night before flying off to join the flock of sparrows that lived in the giant hedge nearby. Who knows how long my paradise would have lasted if not cut short by a relentless hungry hawk and a heartless and sadistic neighbor who despised sparrows. I will never forget those beautiful little souls who left an indelible mark on my heart. I have often wanted to make a video about them, but I haven't been able to get past the pain of having them ripped from my life.
Nice job. One day, at the age of 12, I was walking on a city street and passed by a store owner opening the awning on the store front. At that moment three tiny nude sparrow babies fell onto the sidewalk. Somehow the nest maintained its' shape and protected them. I scooped up the nest and ran home. House rules made me keep them in the garage. Everyday before school I fed them worms. After school they got another round. I was amazed at how fast the little buggers developed feathers. I remember the first day I took them outside after a couple of days practicing flight in the garage. Testing their wings. The three of them suddenly took flight and were gone. Never a thanks. Not even a wave goodbye. Not a peep of thanks!

Indeed I have noticed they stay in the nest until they're fully formed & ready. Then, if I accidentally disturbed them by walking too close, they all just took off & never saw them again. This happened several times on my property, one was in my under-the railroad track tunnel, where there's a nest every year. Another nest is under the awning of my French doors by my kitchen.
How could they?Listen-The Lord saw it and your thanks are with Him when you meet! I love you for it!

I was stood outside my house and a baby bird fell off the roof and landed at my feet, I thought it was dead but picked up and cupped it my hands where it would be warm and dark. After about 15 minutes I felt something wet and warm on my hand. I opened my hands up and the bird flew off (just) leaving me with a present of bird poo. Funny way to say thanks!

I am raising a baby sparrow right now that fell out of a nest in the barn rafters. There was no place to put her safely so she came home with us. Flicker just found her wings & watching this beautiful creature develop more each day has been a blessing!
What do you feed the baby bird and how often. I found one that fell out of the nest today. Sprouted feathers, pretty lethargic. She ate a couple small pieces of soaked dry cat food...like a little bigger than a grain of sand.

@@nellllo please don't feed them cat food! Young birds need a lot of insects. Ideal would be to buy (house) crickets in the store and freeze them or already buy them frozen. Then you should feed a few of them every 30-45 minutes. You can also give them a bit of rearing food (for canaries).

Baby birds are RAVENOUS all the time! I rescued a baby Starling, and I fed him crickets from the pet store, as well as baby food and dog food. Got him to the wildlife rescue the next day. Glad we saved him.
You did the right thing by taking him to the wildlife rescue. They need a lot of care and most don’t survive, even when cared for by the “pros”.
Yes, I’ve raised so many, had some tears and loses, but I loved it. I set the alarm every two hours, took them to work with me, teacher, and taught my kids how to tell time by knowing when they needed to eat again. Yes, they helped. The three baby squirrels I did the same, taught them how to heat the formulas and test on wrists to see if too hot or cold. By the way, I taught Kindergarten. Real life application of anything is the best teacher.

In modern cladistic system of classification of animals, birds are considered part of the Dinosauria clade. Yes, they have veered off quite a bit from their land-based ancestors - but when there is no plumage on a baby bird, one could clearly see the similarity to the general dinosaur body plan. Especially when you look at the hind limbs.
Only humans with big hearts are able to do these kinds of things. Your so incredibly amazing for helping the poor birds 🐦 live. 😄

You mentioned in his learning/growing process, you will realize how close you are to the truth. I watched my free range chickens and one caught a mouse in the woodpile. After seeing this and the others each grabbing the mouse made me very glad chickens aren't 6 feet or bigger. They channeled T-Rex, and Velociraptor
I raised a baby black bird and slowly released it back into the yard. I learned a lot about birds then. They’re very smart. They have big personalities. They can tell the difference between individual people. He or she would fly down from the trees and land on mine and my dads shoulders. We were the ones that fed him. The little bird didn’t go near any other human at all. But he or she knew the two of us were safe people. Birds are amazing. Eventually linked up with the other birds and lived its life.

I raised a sparrow baby too. I planned on bringing her to the rescue center the next day but found out my city doesnt even have a rescue center for birds. So I chose to take care of her and that were the best 3 weeks of my vacation. She became so close to me it was absolutely adorable. I released her a few days ago. I hope shes doing fine, I really miss her a lot.

Nah! Dinosaurs never actually existed. It was part of the Rockefeller oil/fossil fuel lie to make us think oil is limited, and expensive. I've been a Raptor biologist and rehabilitator for several decades. Raptors are much easier to raise than the little guys. I've raised orphaned finches, jays, etc., and I say, you are one in a million (or more)! Most people don't want to take the intense time to save the little ones, but you do and it's wonderful.

This one melted my heart. I've been there. Suddenly there's this little chirpy baby and congratulations, you're now momma bird. It's so fun and rewarding to take care of baby birds. I am not a morning person at all but whenever I had a baby bird I never minded having to get up early to feed him and having my days revolve around caring for a tiny chirpy being.

Mother Nature has a way of choosing her human caregivers......looks like you passed the test. when i was a little girl, my mom was the bird lady in the neighborhood. everyone brought us the babies they found. our first one ended up staying with us for 9 years. she was an abandoned robin with broken wings. she could not fly to freedom so she became family. i still love animals more than humans. keep up the good work and thank you again for giving God a hand.

So cute. I’ve rescued and raised many sparrows and they are just a joy to take care of. And fairly easy to raise as far as birds go. If you find one, you can get “chick starter” feed from a hardware or coop store. Take that and mix it with warm water, and grind it into a very easy to swallow paste. I’ve always had success with that until they get older enough to eat seeds and insects, etc. But I still always offered that chick starter mash in their enclosure so they could eat that too. It’s only good for a short time, so don’t use it after about a half hour bc it will sour.

Most people don’t know how to feed a baby bird. My friend had got a fallen baby bird from her garden and she didn’t know what to give it, so she gave it wheat flour mixed with water. But then it died after 2 days.

We are raising Tweet, a finch, from about a week old. She flies around the house and enjoys her habitat (large finch cage). She amazes us everyday. It would be hard to let her go.

I have rescued birds too, but not wild ones. Exotic and specialist birds. No bird should ever eat bread because they cannot digest processed food like bread very well. It ends up causing sticky glue-like blockages in their intestines which could lead to bloating, painful constipation and even death. As a bird rescuer she should know this.
@@Ravenfyre_88 never heard that. I heard its basically a filler and provides (edit: little to) no nutritional value, but I have never heard it actually *harm* birds.
@@jaydeleon8094 I never heard of that either, and I couldn't really find much online in regards to this. There seems to be a lack of research on the effects of feeding birds bread. However, I did find one PhD Doctorate Thesis that cited a source I could not find, but this is what the thesis says:
"The study showed that many birds are fed inappropriate foods. Alarmingly, bread was by far the most commonly provided food for wildlife (58% of respondents). Bread has been associated with digestive and gut problems in birds. Carbohydrates are relatively scarce in carnivorous and insectivorous birds’ natural diets and the consumption of high carbohydrate foods such as bread can lead to lactic acidosis, which is the build up of acid derived from fermenting food that has built up in the animal’s gut (Kraschnefski, 1999)."
So I guess there's some potential merit to Scottster's reply.

Momma birds generally can't find their young again, when they do, they can't really bring them back to the nest..
As long as you can find the nest, and not get human scent on them, it's possible to return them..And hope momma bird continues treating them as their baby. Papa bird too.

😢 I am a 58 year old guy who has 18 parrots of various sizes and I fell in love with each and every one of them. They all have their own distinctive personalities. When I hear of a story of a person going well beyond their responsibilities to nurture a wild animal it brings tears to my eyes.
I have a big window in my kitchen that looks upon a area that I made for wild birds. Me and my Cockatoo, and Conures love to watch as these starlings, black birds, and other birds come to gather. BUT......thee sparrow is a treat to watch. They are sweet, happy go lucky,extremely peaceful birds.
I also have a pair of Carolina Wrens who have been nesting and living in my open garage for years. Taking on a baby bird is NOT a easy task. It means commitment to saving a living being even if we won't get a thank-you.
I have a mouse problem in my home.
At times a fured pinky will show out of nowhere. Some people have NO problem arbitrary exterminating a little being. I CANNOT ! I love them all.
They live with me. Parrots and Meece !
