Thank you Barb!. Your videos give me so much real usable information on how to do things in my kitchen. I am always grateful that you are sharing your skill and knowledge. Please also show us how you make the shelf stable Ghee. Thank you very much.
Thanks for checking in. We went on a short trip to see family, gone for 10 days. Came home to a mess! Couldn’t see my garden due to all the weeds 🤦🏽♀️. The heat is awful
oh my...memories, when I was trying to keep 4 little boys with hollow legs full...I would make yogurt probably twice a week...about 2 of those big yogurt cartons for them. I had no raw milk, so used the store milk and would sometimes put strawberry Quik in it or vannila and some sugar...Quik already had plenty of sugar, so not needed with that one...lol...ade some plain and let them pick the fruit they wanted in it with some maple syrup or honey. but never knew how to do sour cream...thank you!
@@marthasundquist5761 yes they’re doing good. Ours are in pastures, on grass for the summer. The cattle that died of heat strokes were fats, in feedlots. We had a weird weather event that over stressed them
@@theoldfarmerswife5915 whew! Somehow, the reports I read failed to include that feedlot information. I kept thinking. Cows are smart enough to huddle under a tree or stand in water to cool off, but then thought, well, the water Temps were pretty high too...kinda like bath water, maybe that was the reason. But no...your answer is the missing thing my mind was pondering.
@@marthasundquist5761 well, you know how the media & social media can be 😉. There are still people who claim otherwise. I suppose I would too, if I didn’t live out here. Besides there are over 1 million head of cattle in feedlots around here. So basically that’s like 0.1%. But stating numbers is more dramatic 😁
I've made yogurt with an instant pot before but now the instant pot I have doesn't have a yogurt setting so will definitely try this! And the sour cream! Thanks for these recipes Barb! Loving these!
Yes, you can use heavy whipping cream. Make sure you check you ingredient list, I bought heavy whipping cream once & didn’t read the ingredients. It had corn starch & powdered sugar added 😳
Wow! So easy.
Thank you 😊 for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing! Going to give this a whirl 👍🏼

Checking in on you to see if you, the old farmer and the critters are ok in this heat.

This is the recipe that I use and it makes the best sour cream. Thanks for this video reminder
wow that was easy!
Thanks so much for showing us how you make your yogurt & sour cream! God bless you & your family!
As soon as my cow has a baby, we will be trying this. So excited. I love making things at home.
I JEALOUS! When our kids were little, we considered getting a milk cow. Always regretted not doing it tho

@@theoldfarmerswife5915 I hope your cattle made it through the heat wave.

So simple but so yummy. Wish I knew where to fresh whole milk.
Unbelievable. So simple and straightforward.
Yay Barb! Thank you!
If that is a pint of milk ~ you must be a tiny woman🎑
😂. You know better than that 😂. The first jar I held up was 1/2 gallon of cream
@@theoldfarmerswife5915 🤣Just can't take a compliment😉💞
Omg u r coming on strong lady
You can strain your yogurt and it is nice and thick without adding powdered milk.
Wow that’s incredible!! I’m curious to know if this could be made using store bought milk? I’m wondering if it would work with heavy whipping cream?
I do believe it will work with both
Is it farm fresh cream or can I use heavy cream or whipping cream? Our nearest dairy is 45 minutes away.

@@theoldfarmerswife5915 Thank you. I will be sure to check ingredients.
