    Perhaps they are referred to as segments because they are the smallest units of the lungs that can be removed without affecting adjacent lung. Similar to liver segments.

    Nice lung and airway tutorial video. I have pneumonia infection in my right lung and I can't get help. Walked out with a allergy nasal spray from pulmonary of all places. Basically told to leave and come back for a breathing test 4 months later as no sense of urgency is ever evident. Pain in back, located behind right lung, as well as chest pain and jaw pain. Back pain is deep. It isn't really back pain. it is lung inflammation causing swelling and pain in the region that pushes and puts pressure on my back. I use a deep massage pillow with heat and end up with bruises and burns on my back because I am trying to get relief. I hate Berkshire medical center managed by Berkshire healthcare systems. They are so neglectful and kind of hurtful...

    At 6.17 the image has an inaccuracy, there will be no further cartilage at the level of bronchioles, especially respiratory bronchioles. There will only be smooth muscle and elastic fibres holding them patent, along with the effects of surfactant.

      Hello Grace, yes you are spot on ... that is wrong in the video. I am hoping to redo and report the Respiratory videos in the next week or so.

    Don't bronchioles lack cartilage but contain elastic fibers?

    • @TheNotedAnatomist
      @TheNotedAnatomist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +TheMistercrowley Correct, bronchioles do lack cartilage but contain elastic fibers and smooth muscle.
