I actually found and bought an Manual 1992 SC300 for 6k in Floria couple months back. they're great cars but for people that are thinking of buying one, listen: Yes, it is a 2JZ, Yes its cool as shit and the stock exhaust even sounds good; But if your thinking of buying one make sure to meticulously check it before buying one. They have a lot of problems being that old... Some things to watch out for: - Door hinges (the Sc has large ass doors and the hinges can start to sag. they cost a lot to replace.) - Valve cover gasket (For some reason they are infamous for leaky gaskets. i should know.) - Electrical... (So many little things i have to split it up...) - Fuel pump ECU goes bad - ECU capacitors blow - Electrical harness damage (if the car's suspension has been modified) - ECU-IG capacitor blows - Dash (motor in tach/speedo and also the needles go bad) - Power steering pump leaking on alternator (will kill the alternator) - Front suspension bushings - Timing belt And so other old car stuff... But if you can find one in good condition or have the time, money, and experience to fix one up, they are so fun. Alot of drift potential as well (just not stock lol)
He mad to talk about sc300 and is300 being under 5k. You only going to enjoy the car if you build up to it potential. You need at least 8k or more to pick up a clean one

I absolutely love my aw11. Doesn’t run atm and has so many issues, and on a wild goose chase to find an igniter, but definitely a great car. I’ve driven it over 200 miles with a vaccuum leak and it drove perfectly fine. Best $5k (more now fixing it) I’ve ever spent tbh
At this point I'm just sticking to domestic vehicles to drift and build up Get a truck or Camaro, mustang etc and just send it don't gotta worry about beating up a upcoming classic JDM car...
best bet for the fc is to just rebuild the motor once you get it probably. If you're planning to turbo it, it's easier to just to buy a factory turbo one rather than turboing the na 6 port
might as-well buy a 14k FC atp, new shortblocks from mazda (if you can even snag them before the shops do) is about 9k+. individual irons, rotors, or housings go for about 1.2k each on avg.
I hate to be that guy but the Lexus LS400 are not sport cars, SC300 is debatable. With that said another alternative in terms old luxury cars is the Infiniti Q45(all 3 generations can be found under 5k in great condition). Also as a z31 owner the engine bay is not bad at all, you can do a lot of the maintenance without removing the motor from the bay, people mix them up for z32 engine bay. Only bad thing imo are the wires on the plenum, which can easily be deleted and the oil filter location which was a common bad habit of Nissan with their older cars, its located above the starter if you want to remove from the bottom during oil change. Miata NB's or Miata's in general are so overly saturated currently. They CANNOT be found nowhere near around 5k without at least one or two of: rust, high mileage, mechanically unsound, rebuilt title, in an accident or terrible paint. They're not worth the asking price anymore.
Let's go ahead and guess because there is probably only five JDM Cars that are rear wheel drive of course it's going to be a Miata on the list then the RX7 or RX8 the MR2 he'll probably pick a Lexus sedan and a Toyota sedan

I’d choose the IS300 10x over, it’s smaller, sportier, lighter, has a manual, and the 2jz is easier and cheaper to build than a 1uz
